Numerical simulation of flow around two circular cylinders in various arrangements

  • The results of flow feature around two circular cylinders in various arrangements are carried out using two-dimensional simulation at Reynolds number of 200. In this work, time-averaged fluid force acting on the upstream and downstream cylinders were calculated for staggered angle ${\alpha}=0{\sim}90^{\circ}$ in the range of L/D = 1.1~5, where ${\alpha}$ is the angle between the free-stream flow and the line connecting the centers of the cylinders, L is centre-to-centre distance and D is cylinder diameter. The dependence of magnitudes and trends of fluid force coefficient on the spacing ratio L/D and ${\alpha}$ are discussed. In all arrangements of two cylinders, tandem arrangement (${\alpha}=0^{\circ}$) is the case produced a minimum drag coefficient for downstream cylinder. Moreover, the locations of separation and stagnation points or pressure coefficient on surface of the cylinder were examined. 딤플이 있는 판형 열교환기 관내측 열유동 최적화 (A numerical study for optimizing the thermal and flow performance in the channel of plate heat exchanger with dimples)

  • The optimum dimple shape and arrangement in the channel of a plate heat exchanger with staggered dimples are proposed in this study. Four important geometric parameters are selected as design variables, the pressure drop and heat transfer characteristics are examined in the channel of plate heat exchangers. The optimization is accomplished by minimizing the global criterion function which consists of the correlations of Nusselt number and pressure drop. The optimum geometric parameters were found at the dimensionless dimple distance (L) of 0.272, the dimensionless dimple angle ($\beta$) of 0.44, the dimensionless dimple volume (V) of 0.106 and the dimensionless dimple pitch (G) of 0.195. It is found that the heat transfer and pressure drop of the optimum model are increased by approximately 227.9% and 32.9%, respectively, compared to those of the base model.

단열-다공암반에서 유동저항 이론을 이용한 지하수 유동 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Groundwater Flow in Fractured-Porous Media by Flow Resistance Theory)

  • 본 연구에서는 유동저항이론을 기초로 하여 연속다공체, 분리단열망 및 연속다공체-분리단열망 공존암반과 같은 3가지 암반을 대상으로 암반 특성에 따른 지하수 유동저항 개념 모델링 및 관계식을 제안하였다. 정상상태조건에서 밀도변동은 고려하지 않았으며 유한 체적법을 이용하였다. 각종 물성치는 블록 중심에서 정의되고, flux는 블록면에서 정의되는 staggered 격자 체계하에서 모든 블록에 대해 Darcy 법칙이 적용되었다. 접촉면에서의 투수계수는 인접면 중심에서 정의된 물성치의 조화평균값을 사용하였다. 유동저항개념을 이용하여 인접한 블록간의 상대압력차와 flux의 관계를 표현하였다. 개개의 단열에서의 유동은 다공암반에서 이용된 방정식과 동일한 형태의 2차원 방정식으로 모사되었다. 본 논문에서 제안된 모델은 추후 다양한 암반 특성별 유동 모사 기법을 개발하는데 많은 기여를 할 것으로 기대된다.

임플란트 배열과 하중 방향이 임플란트와 치조골에 미치는 유한요소 응력분석 (Effects of implant alignment and load direction on mandibular bone and implant: finite element analysis)

  • 목적: 수복물에 교합력을 가할때 식립된 임플란트의 개수, 배열 및 위치에 따른 임플란트, 보철물 및 지지 골에 발생하는 응력의 차이를 분석하고자 한다. 연구 재료 및 방법: 하악에 임플란트가 식립되어 고정성 보철물을 지지하는 4 종류의 3D 유한요소 모형을 제작하였다. 모델 M1은 2개의 임플란트 가운데에 가공치를 배열하였고, 모델 M2는 2개의 임플란트 외측에 캔티레버 가공치를 배열하였다. 모델 M3과 M4는 3개의 임플란트를 각각 일렬로 배열되거나, 엇갈리게 배열하였다. 총 120 N 크기의 수직력과 45도 측방력을 가하였고, 유한요소 응력 분석을 시행하였다 결과: 측방력 하중에 의해 발생한 최대 응력은 수직력 하중에 의한 것 보다 임플란트 부위에서 3.4 - 5.1배 더 컸고, 지지골 내에서는 3.5 - 8.3배 더 컸다. 모델 M2 의 고정성 보철물의 캔티레버 연결부에서 가장 큰 응력이 집중되었다. 임플란트 개수가 3개인 모델들이 2개인 경우보다 더 낮은 응력이 발생하였으나 M3과 M4에서 일렬 배열과 엇갈린 배열간의 응력 발생 차이는 작았다. 결론: 임플란트 배열의 엇갈림 정도는 응력 크기에 별 차이를 발생하지 않았으나, 캔티래버의 존재나 임플란트의 개수의 차이는 큰 영향을 주었다.

언더필 공정에서 레이싱 효과와 계면 병합에 대한 가시화 (Visualization for racing effect and meniscus merging in underfill process)

  • 플립칩 패키징에서 언더필 공정은 칩과 기판 사이를 에폭시로 채워서 본딩하는 공정으로 제품의 신뢰성 향상을 위해 수행되어 진다. 이 언더필 공정은 모세관 현상에 의해서 이루어지는데 유체의 계면과 범프의 배열이 계면 운동에 미치는 영향으로 인하여 공정 중 예기치 않은 공기층을 형성하게 된다. 본 연구에서는 모세관 언더필 유동에서 나타나는 비정상 계면 유동을 가시화하여 범프 배열에 따른 레이싱 효과와 계면의 병합 현상에 대하여 고찰하였다. 그 결과, 플립칩 내부의 범프가 고밀도일수록 유체의 흐름방향과 수직방향의 유동이 더욱 활발하게 진행되어 더 많은 공기층이 형성되었으며, 엇갈린 배열일 경우 직각 배열에 비해 이러한 현상이 더 지배적으로 나타난다.

열성층유동 곡관벽에서의 과도온도분포 예측 (Prediction of Transient Temperature Distributions in the Wall of Curved Piping System Subjected to Internally Thermal Stratification Flow)

  • This paper addresses a numerical method for predicting transient temperature distributions in the wall of a curved pipe subjected to internally thermal stratification flow. A simple and convenient numerical method of treating the unsteady conjugate heat transfer in the non-orthogonal coordinate systems is presented. The proposed method is implemented in a finite volume thermal-hydraulic computer code based on a cell-centered, non-staggered grid arrangement, the SIMPLEC algorithm, a higher-order bounded convection scheme, and the modified version of momentum interpolation method. Calculations are performed for the transient evolution of thermal stratification in two curved pipes, where the one has thick wall and the other has so thin wall that its presence can be negligible in the heat transfer analysis. The predicted results show that the thermally stratified flow and transient conjugate heat transfer in a curved pipe with a finite wall thickness can be satisfactorily analyzed by the present numerical method, and that the neglect of wall thickness in the prediction of pipe wall temperature distributions can provide unacceptably distorted results.

평판 핀 튜브 열교환기의 공기측 강제대류 열전달계수에 대한 실험 및 수치계산 (Experimental Measurement and Numerical Computation on the Air-Side Forced Convective Heat Tranfer Coefficient in Plate Fin-Tube Exchangers)

  • Air-side forced convective heat transfer of a plate fin-tube heat exchanger is investigated by experimental measurement and numerical computation. The heat exchanger consists of staggered arrangement of refrigerant pipes of 10.2 m diameter and the pitch of fins is 3.5 m. In the experimental study, the forced convective heat transfer is measured at Reynolds number of 1082, 1397, 1486, 1591 and 1649 based on diameter of refrigerant piping and mean velocity. Average Nusselt number for the convective heat transfer coefficient is also computed for the same Reynolds number by commercial software of STAR-CD with standard $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulent model. It is found that the relative errors of average Nusselt numbers between experimental and numerical data are less than 6 percentage in Reynolds number of $1082{\sim}1649$. The errors between experiment and other correlations are ranged from 7% to 32.4%. But the correlation of Kim at al is closest to the experimental data within 7% of the relative error.

연소실 냉각을 위한 충돌제트/유출냉각기법에서 유출판에서의 열전달특성 (Heat Transfer Characteristics on Effusion Plate in Impingement/Effusion Cooling for Combustor)

  • The present study is conducted to investigate the local heat/mass transfer characteristics for flow through perforated plates. A naphthalene sublimation method is employed to determine the local heat/mass transfer coefficients on the effusion plate. Two parallel perforated plates are arranged for the two different ways: staggered and shifted in one direction. The experiments are conducted for hole pitch-to-diameter ratios of 6.0, for gap distance between the perforated plates of 0.33 to 10 hole diameters, and for Reynolds numbers of 5,000 to 12,000. The result shows that the high transfer region is formed at stagnation region and at the mid-line of the adjacent impinging jets due to secondary vortices and flow acceleration to the effusion hole. For flows through the perforated plates, the mass transfer rates on the surface of the effusion plate are about six to ten times higher than for effusion cooling alone (single perforated plate). More uniform and higher heat/mass transfer characteristic is obtained in overall region with small gap between two perforated plates.

유동가속부식이 잠재한 곡관내의 3차원 난류유동 해석 (Three-dimensional Turbulent Flow Analysis in Curved Piping Systems Susceptible to Flow-Accelerated Corrosion)

  • The three-dimensional turbulent flow in curved pipes susceptible to flow-accelerated corrosion has been analyzed numerically to predict the pressure and shear stress distributions on the inner surface of the pipes. The analysis employs the body-fitted non-orthogonal curvilinear coordinate system and a standard $ {\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence model with wall function method. The finite volume method is used to discretize the governing equations. The convection term is approximated by a high-resolution and bounded discretization scheme. The cell-centered, non-staggered grid arrangement is adopted and the resulting checkerboard pressure oscillation is prevented by the application of a modified version of momentum interpolation scheme. The SIMPLE algorithm is employed for the pressure and velocity coupling. The numerical calculations have been performed for two curved pipes with different bend angles and curvature radii, and discussions have been made on the distributions of the primary and secondary flow velocities, pressure and shear stress on the inner surface of the pipe to examine applicability of the present analysis method. As the result it is seen that the method is effective to predict the susceptible systems or their local areas where the fluid velocity or local turbulence is so high that the structural integrity can be threatened by wall thinning degradation due to flow-accelerated corrosion.

고체 입자가 부상된 충돌제트에서의 입자 거동에 관한 수치해석적 연구 (Numerical Study on the Particle Movement of a Particle-Laden Impinging Jet)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze numerically the movement of particles included in turbulent fluid flow characteristics of metallic surfaces. To describe fluid flew, the incompressible Navier-Stokes equation discretized by the finite volume method were solved on the non-orthogonal coordinates with non-staggered variable arrangement, and the k-$\xi$ turbulence model was adapted. After fluid flow was calculated, particle movement was predicted from the Lagrangian approaches. Non-essential complexities were avoided by assuming that the particles had spherical shapes and the Stoke's drag formula only consisted of external farces acting upon them. In order to validate the numerical calculations, the results were compared with the experimental data reported in literature and agreed well with them. The drag force coefficient equation showed better agreement with the experimental data in the prediction of particle movement than the correction factor equation. Impact velocity and impact angle increased as inlet turbulence intensity decreased, relative jet height was lower. or the Reynolds number was larger.
