In this research article, acid resistance, sulphate resistance and sorptivity of self compacted concrete (SCC) prepared from C&D waste have been discussed. To improve the above properties of self compacted recycled aggregate concrete (SCRAC) along with mechanical and durability properties, different two stage mixing approaches (TSMA and TSMAsfc) were followed. In the proposed two stage mixing approach (TSMAsfc), silica fume, a proportional amount of cement and a proportional amount of water were mixed in premix stage which fills the pores and cracks of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC). The concrete specimen prepared using above mixing approaches were immersed in 1% concentration of sulphuric acid (H2SO4) and magnesium sulphate (MgSO4) solution for 28, 90 and 180 days for evaluating the acid resistance of SCRAC. Experimental results concluded that the proposed two stage mixing approach (TSMAsfc) is most suitable for acid resistance and sulphate resistance in terms of weight loss and strength loss due to the elimination of pores and cracks in the interfacial transition zone (ITZ). In modified two stage mixing approach, the pores and cracks of recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) were filled up and make ITZs of SCRAC stronger. Microstructure analysis was carried out to justify the reason of improvement of ITZs by electron probe micro analyser (EPMA) analysis. X-ray mapping was also done to know the presence of strength contributing elements presents in the concrete sample. It was established that SCRAC with modified mixing approach have shown improved results in terms of acid resistance, sulphate resistance, sorptivity and mechanical properties.

This study was conducted to confirm the applicability of recycled aggregates as aggregates for structural concrete as a way to respond to the shortage of natural aggregates. The two-stage mixing approach developed by Tam et al. is known to be a method that can improve the mechanical performance of recycled aggregate concrete without the installation of new additional facilities. In this work, modified version of two stage mixing approach, which was used in our earlier work, was introduced to prepare mortar specimens with recycled fine aggregate, and the compressive strength and fire resistance were compared to mortar mixed with normal mixing approach. According to the experimental results from mortar with recycled fine aggregate, the use of two-stage mixing approach was found to be more effective than normal mixing approach for compressive strength development. In addition, the residual strengths of the mortar with two-stage mixing approach was higher than mortar made of normal mixing approach after exposure to 600 and 900 ℃. It is possible to manufacture high-performance cement composites with recycled fine aggregates through the active use of the two-stage mixing approach.
A transient model for hydrogen generation in molten metal-water interactions was developed with separate models for two stages of coarse mixing and stratification. The model selves the mechanistic equations (heat and mass transfer correlation, heat conduction equation and the concentration diffusion equation) of each stage with non-zero boundary conditions. Using this model, numerical simulations were performed for single droplet experiments in the Argonne National Laboratory tests and for FITS tests that simulated dynamic fragmentation and stratification. The calculation results of hydrogen generation showed better agreement to the experiment data than those of previous works. It was found from the analyses that the steam concentration to be reached at the reaction front might be the main constraint to the extent of the metal droplet oxidized. Also, the hydrogen generation rate in the coarse mixing stage was the higher than that in the stratification stage. The particle size was the most important factor in the coarse mixing stage to predict the amount of hydrogen generation.

This work has been initiated to find possibility whether recycled fine aggregate can be used as a source of aggregate for structural concrete or not. Two-stage mixing approach was chosen in order to maximize strength potential from recycled fine aggregate. Moisture content of the recycled fine aggregate was changed, and two different types of two-stage mixing approaches were applied to produce cement mortar. The strength of mortar made of 100% recycled fine aggregate by two-stage mixing approaches was compared to that of mortar made of 100% washed sea sand. According to the results, the effect of moisture content on compressive strength was observed from low water cement mortar(W/C 0.3). In case of W/C 0.5 cement mortar, no clear relationship was observed between moisture content and strength development. It was found that two-stage mixing approach has a potential to increase the strength of mortar made of 100% recycled fine aggregate. In case of modified version of two-stage mixing approach which first prepares cement paste and pours recycled fine aggregate into the cement paste, was more effective to increase the strength of mortar made of 100% recycled fine aggregate.
Cure characteristics and physical properties of carbon black-filled natural rubber (NR) compounds depending on the mixing procedure were studied using the compounds with different pre-final mixing (FM-1) stages. Carbon master batch (MB) and first and second remitting (1RM and 2RM) stages were employed as the FM-1 stage. Bound rubber content of the FM compound decreased with increasing the mixing steps. This was due to the decrease of the molecular weight distribution of the polymer by the rubber chain scission during the mixing. The Mooney viscosity decreased with increasing the mixing steps. Cure characteristics of the compounds were found to be different with the mixing procedures. The cure times of the compound became slower by increasing the number of the mixing steps. This was explained by the length of rubber chain, the carbon black network, distribution of the curatives in the compound, and immobilization of the polymeric segments. Modulus and tensile strength of the vulcanizate did not show a specific trend with the mixing procedure. Fatigue life of the vulcanizate increased by increasing the mixing stages.

As the lack of specific aggregation intensifies, the development of alternative resources is urgent. Construction waste is increasing every year, but recycled aggregate is used as a low value added material. Various studies are currently underway at the national level. In this paper, the mechanical performance of the concrete according to the concrete mixing method and the replacement amount of the circulating coarse aggregate was compared and evaluated. Concrete mixing method was normal mixing approach(NMA) method, two-stage mixing approach1 (TSMA1) method, two-stage mixing approach2 (TSMA2) method. Fresh concrete was tested for air content, slump test, and unit volume weight. Compressive strength and flexural strength were tested in hardened concrete. According to the TSMA method, the mechanical performance difference of concrete is shown, and the strength is decreased according to the circulating coarse aggregate replacement amount.

In this work, an aerothermodynamic calculation model for cooled axial flow turbine blades with trailing edge ejection is suggested and a mean line performance analysis of a turbine stage with nozzle cooling is carried out. A unique model regarding the interaction between coolant and main gas is proposed, while existing correlations are adopted to predict viscous loss and blade outflow angle. The interactions considered are the heat transfer from main gas to coolant and the temperature and pressure losses by the mixing of two streams due to the trailing edge coolant ejection. For a stator blade without ejection, trailing edge loss calculated by the trailing edge analysis is compared with that calculated by loss correlation. The effect of heat transfer effectiveness of coolant passage on the mixing loss is analyzed. For a model turbine stage with nozzle cooling, parametric analyses are carried out to investigate the effect of main design variables(coolant mass flow ratio, temperature and ejection area) on the stage performance.
The characteristic floc growth of Al-based coagulants was investigated in the aspect of mixing intensity and visualization of generated flocs during coagulation and flocculation processes. Zeta potential of turbid particles in the artificial water nearly approached to zero at pH 8-9, in which TDS and conductivity were minimized. The removal rate of turbidity and phosphate was maximized at the optimal mixing intensity of rapid and slow mixing stages. After the rapid mixing stage of coagulation process, small particles ($3-5{\mu}m$) were abruptly generated, and higher mixing intensity made more numbers of flocs. With the progress of slow mixing stage, the number of small particles were decreased with the simultaneous increase of intermediate particles ($7-21{\mu}m$). The number of large particles (>$23{\mu}m$) were maximized at the lowest rapid mixing intensity of $95.1sec^{-1}$, whereas small particles (<$5{\mu}m$) were maximized at the highest rapid mixing intensity of $760.7sec^{-1}$.

In this paper, we propose a thorough solution for adjusting virtual sound field with different kinds of devices and software in preliminary procedure and late stage of music processing. The basic process of music production includes composing, arranging and recording at pre-production stage as well as sound mixing and mastering at post-production stage. At the initial stage of music creation, it should be checked whether the design of virtual sound field, the choice of the tone and the instrument used in the arrangement match the virtual sound field required for the final work. In later recording, mixing and mastering, elaborate adjustments should be done to the virtual sound field. This study also analyzed how to apply the parameter of the effectors to the design and adjustment of the virtual sound field, making it the source of our creation.
The objective of this paper was to investigate the mixing characteristics of an three-stage inline coagulant mixing system experimentally. Wastewater samples of pH 8.5 and initial turbidity 1,000NTU were taken from a site of tunneling work. At the constant dosage, 0.36mL/L, of polymer as coagulant aids, the coagulation efficiency with the dosage of PAC as coagulant was about 4${\sim}$6% at 10 minutes after sampling. In the case of 2 different velocity gradient conditions, the efficiency of turbidity removal was increased about 6.5${\sim}$8% with increasing the dosage of coagulant while, the efficiency was increased about 20${\sim}$21.5% with increasing the dosage of coagulant aids. The efficiency of turbidity removal with the settling time after sampling was about 90% after 1 minute, and the efficiency was about 95% after 5 minutes.
