  • The purpose of this research is to provide an available basis for marketing strategy by defining the cause-effect relation between the service level of staff members in dental clinic and purchasing behavior of the customers. This study was done in 10 days from November 2, 2009 to November 11, 2009 and the total 172 copies were used for the analysis. As a result of the correlation analysis, a significant positive correlation among all the measured variables was found. As a result of the structural model analysis, I found that the fair service among the variables of the service level significantly affects the building of relationship and the hospital image. The building of relationship and the hospital image significantly affect the positive oral spread. The building of relationship significantly affects the repurchase intentions but the hospital image does not affects the repurchase intentions. To sum up the result of this study, I found that the fair service and the building of relationship with patients are important variables in order to attract new patients and maintain existing customers. I recommend that the hospital continues to motivate staffs through internal marketing and conduct regular trainings. It is necessary to have patients satisfied with broadening responsibility and authority and set marketing strategy for the relationship with patients.

  • The purpose of this study was to reveal analyze the relationship between status of participation in an oral health care program and oral health outcomes among patients in Korea, and to evaluate the results to provide evidence regarding the feasibility of widespread implementation of the program. Patients were designated as either cooperative or non-cooperative with the oral health care program and were assigned to each group accordingly. Modified dental hygiene process (M-DHP) of the oral healthcare program was modified to form the dental hygiene process. The study included 48 patients at a dental clinic in Busan, Korea. Questionnaires were used to collect information on oral health behavior (OHB), clinical examination was used to record bleeding on probing (BOP) and O'Leary index, and phase microscopy was used to identify microorganisms. Differences between groups were evaluated using repeated measures ANOVA. Our results showed that the group cooperative with the oral health care program showed greater improvement in OHB, BOP, and O'Leary index than the non-cooperative group. Second, patient satisfaction with the M-DHP was very high, particularly for content and the friendly nature of the staff. The cooperative group showed greater improvement in oral health than the non-cooperative group for all metrics. Our results suggest that this low-coste program, if implemented, would be actively accepted and utilized in dental clinics.

The result revealed that the infection control, which was most important for the patients, was 'instrument disinfection' (64.3%) and it was significant in age factor(P<0.01). For the responsibility of infection control, 72.3% replied that 'dentist or dental clinic staff' should be responsible for it and it was significant in academic background factor(P<0.001). For the importance of cleaning and sanitation, 70.0% replied that 'it is very important' and it was gender(P<0.05)and the age factor.((P<0.01) The person who experienced the information about the infection control of dental clinic observed hand washing(P<0.001), replacement of suction tip(P<0.001) and replacement of teeth washing cup (P<0.01) more carefully and considered whether dentist wears protective goggle more importantly than the person who did not experience it(P<0.01). If dental clinic recognizes the evaluation of infection control notified by the Ministry of Health & Welfare and performs the infection control suitable for the eye level of general medical consumer on the basis of the study result above, it can improve the reliance of hospital as well as patient's satisfaction.

  • The characteristics of dental treatment makes the dental staff frequently contact with patient directly. Also the daily use of high-handpieces, sharp instruments, and needles often causes bleeding on oral cavity. Therefore, the risk of cross transmission grows up. The pathogen from dental practice could spread on not only the practice itself but also the dental laboratory with contaminated impressions and prosthesis. Dental clinic staffs (dentists, dental hygienists and dental technicians) should recognize all the patients have a possibility of cross contamination, and try to prevent the transmission of infection by proper infection control. In this study, we review the articles about disinfection methods and chemical infection agents used for dental impressions, and try to figure out the suitable and effective infection control system of dental impressions.
