The purpose of this study was to describe the application of 3D finite element analysis to determine resultant stresses on the bone anchored fixed prosthesis, implants and supporting bone of the mandible according to fixture numbers and load conditions. 4 or 6 fixtures and the bone anchored fixed prosthesis were placed in 3D finite element mandibular arch model which represents an actual mandibular skull. A $45^{\circ}$ diagonal load of 10㎏ was labiolingually applied in the center of the prosthesis(P1). A $45^{\circ}$ diagonal load of 20㎏ was buccolingually applied at the location of the 10mm or 20mm cantilever posterior to the most distal implant(P2 or P3). The vertical distribution loads were applied to the superior surfaces of both the right and the left 20mm cantilevers(P4). In order that the boundary conditions of the structure were located to the mandibular ramus and angle, the distal bone plane was to totally fixed to prevent rigid body motion of the entire model. 3D finite element analysis was perfomed for stress distribution and deflection on implants and supporting bone using commercial software(ABAQUS program. for Sun-SPARC Workstation. The results were as follows : 1. In all conditions of load, the hightest tensile stresses were observed at the metal lates of prostheses. 2. The higher tensile stresses were observed at the diagonal loads rather than the vertical loads 3. 6-implants cases were more stable than 4-implants cases for decreasing bending and torque under diagonal load on the anterior of prosthesis. 4. From a biomechanical perspective, high stress developed at the metal plate of cantilever-to-the most distal implant junctions as a consequence of loads applied to the cantilever extension. 5. Under diagonal load on cantilever extension, the 6-implants cases had a tendency to reduce displacement and to increase the reaction force of supporting point due to increasing the bendign stiffness of the prosthesis than 4-implants cases. 6. Under diagonal load on cantilever extension, the case of 10mm long cantilever was more stable than that of 20mm long cnatilever in respect of stress distribution and displacement. 7. When the ends of 10mm or 20mm long cantilever were loaded, the higher tensile stress was observed at the second most distal implant rather than the first most distal implant. 8. The 6-implants cases were more favorable about prevention of screw loosening under repeated loadings because 6-implants cases had smaller deformation and 4-implants cases had larger deformation.

Bistable chiral splay nematic liquid crystal display (BCSN LCD) is a memory type liquid crystal display using splay and $-\pi$ twist states as two stable states. When the cell thickness to pitch (d/p) ratio is 0.25, splay and $-\pi$ twist states have permanent memory time. However, when the transition from $-\pi$ twist state to splay state is caused by a fringe field, pixel regions show that the splay state is not perfect, but rather includes a contribution from the $-\pi$ twist state. In this paper, we propose a reflective BCSN LCD using $-\pi$ twist state in which the two stable states do not coexist. The fabricated reflective BCSN LC cell shows a high contrast ratio of over 30:1 and response times of 950 ms and 450 ms in vertical and fringe field switching, respectively. The proposed cell also shows wide viewing angle characteristics of $180^{\circ}$ in left- and right directions.
The effects of packaging materials and storage temperature on the quality of dried lotus roots (NelumbonuciferaG.) were studied during 330 days of storage. Using four commercial types of packaging, (PE [polyethylene] film bags, PP [polypropylene] film bags, gunny roll, and paper bags), and four different storage temperatures (-5, 0, 10, and $20^{\circ}C$), changes in moisture content, hardness, color, and sensory qualities of dried lotus roots were investigated. The moisture contents of dried lotus roots stored in PE and PP film bags were higher than those of roots stored in gunny and paper bags. A major difference in moisture content was apparent when roots stored in gunny bags and paper bags were compared. Hue angle values were stable in roots stored in gunny and paper bags at all temperatures. Hardness decreased slightly with increased storage time in PE and PP film bags. Decay rate and marketability of roots stored in PE and PP film bags at $-5^{\circ}C$ were acceptable. The results showed that dried roots packaged with PE and PP were stable in quality, in contrast to roots stored in gunny and paper bags.
This study presents the flow response and habitat region of the aquatic plants in the urban streams. Phragmites japonica, Phragmites communis, Miscanthus sacchariflorus, Persicaria blumei and Persicaria thunbergii were selected as for typical plants. Flow response and habitat region were determined by flow velocity/depth and vegetation growth. Stages for flow response of the aquatic plants were classified into stable, recovered, damaged and swept away. Criteria between the recovered and damaged stage was determined by the bending angle of $30{\sim}50^{\circ}$. Capability against flow was high in the order of Phragmites japonica, Phragmites communis, Miscanthus sacchariflorus, Persicaria blumei and Persicaria thunbergi. Phragmites japonica and Phragmites communis were capable of coping with flow depth 0.9 m, flow velocity 1.5 m/s and with flow depth 1.0 m, flow velocity 0.9 m/s, respectively. Miscanthus sacchariflorus was capable within the region of flow depth 1.0 m and flow velocity 0.6 m/s. Persicaria blumei and Persicaria thunbergii were less capable than the other aquatic plants and were vulnerable exceeding the water depth of 1.0 m. Habitat regions by the flow response of each plants were suggested.

The potassium cream soap with fatty acid called cleaning foam has a crystal gel structure, and unlike an emulsion system, it is weak to shear stress and shows characteristics that are easily separated under high temperature storage conditions. The crystal gel structure of cleansing foams is significantly influenced by the nature and proportion of fatty acids, degree of neutralization, and the nature and proportion of polyols. In order to investigate the effect of these parameters on the crystal gel structure, a ternary system consisting of water/KOH/fatty acid was investigated in this study. The investigation of differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) revealed that the eutectic point was found at the ratio of myristic acid (MA) : stearic acid (SA) = 3 : 1 and ternary systems were the most stable at the eutectic point. However, the increase in fatty acid content had little effect on stability. On the basis of viscosity and polarized optical microscopy (POM) measurements, the optimum degree of neutralization was found to be about 75%. The system was stable when the melting point (Tm) of the ternary system was higher than the storage temperature and the crystal phase was transferred to lamellar gel phase, but the increase in fatty acid content had little effect on stability. The addition of polyols to the ternary system played an important role in changing the Tm and causing phase transition. The structure of the cleansing foams were confirmed through cryogenic scanning electron microscope (Cryo-SEM), small and wide angle X-ray scattering (SAXS and WAXS) analysis. Since butylene glycol (BG), propylene glycol (PG), and dipropylene glycol (DPG) lowered the Tm and hindered the lamellar gel formation, they were unsuitable for the formation of stable cleansing foam. In contrast, glycerin, PEG-400, and sorbitol increased the Tm, and facilitated the formation of lamellar gel phase, which led to a stable ternary system. Glycerin was found to be the most optimal agent to prepare a cleansing foam with enhanced stability.
In the case of satellite navigation positioning, the shielding of satellite signals is determined by the environment of the region at which a user is located, and the navigation performance is determined accordingly. The accuracy of user position determination varies depending on the dilution of precision (DOP) which is a measuring index for the geometric characteristics of visible satellites; and if the minimum visible satellites are not secured, position determination is impossible. Currently, the GLObal NAvigation Satellite system (GLONASS) of Russia is used to supplement the navigation performance of the Global Positioning System (GPS) in regions where GPS cannot be used. In addition, the European Satellite Navigation System (Galileo) of the European Union, the Chinese Satellite Navigation System (BeiDou) of China, the Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS) of Japan, and the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS) of India are aimed to achieve the full operational capability (FOC) operation of the navigation system. Thus, the number of satellites available for navigation would rapidly increase, particularly in the Asian region; and when integrated navigation is performed, the improvement of navigation performance is expected to be much larger than that in other regions. To secure a stable and prompt position solution, GPS-GLONASS integrated navigation is generally performed at present. However, as available satellite navigation systems have been diversified, finding the minimum satellite constellation combination to obtain the best navigation performance has recently become an issue. For this purpose, it is necessary to examine and predict the navigation performance that could be obtained by the addition of the third satellite navigation system in addition to GPS-GLONASS. In this study, the current status of the integrated navigation performance for various satellite constellation combinations was analyzed based on 2014, and the navigation performance in 2020 was predicted based on the FOC plan of the satellite navigation system for each country. For this prediction, the orbital elements and nominal almanac data of satellite navigation systems that can be observed in the Korean Peninsula were organized, and the minimum elevation angle expecting signal shielding was established based on Matlab and the performance was predicted in terms of DOP. In the case of integrated navigation, a time offset determination algorithm needs to be considered in order to estimate the clock error between navigation systems, and it was analyzed using two kinds of methods: a satellite navigation message based estimation method and a receiver based method where a user directly performs estimation. This simulation is expected to be used as an index for the establishment of the minimum satellite constellation for obtaining the best navigation performance.
Observers usually experience visual fatigue when they watch contents displayed on 3D display. There has been various research on visual fatigue incurred in stereoscopic displays that use 3D glasses, but relatively less studies have been done in the area of autostereoscopic displays. i3D system refers to interactive 3D system that makes it possible for users to interact with contents using their hands. Current research measured visual fatigue that users experience from i3D under various visual environments. We examined the effects of viewing distance, disparities and visual orientation on visual fatigue in i3D. The results indicated that visual fatigue decreased with longer distance and smaller disparity. Visual fatigue increased with angle when 3D fusion was unstable. In addition, there was an interaction effect between angle and distance in which visual fatigue increased with distance under stable 3D fusion but there was no difference in visual fatigue as a function of distance when 3D fusion was unstable. These results would be importantly used to develop autostereoscopic displays that minimize visual fatigue.
The HFMX((High Flux Macromolecular X-ray crystallography) beamline at Pohang Accelerator Laboratory uses beams from a multi-pole wiggler. Two horizontal and vertical slits relevant to high heat-load are installed at its front-end. In order to treat high heat-load with reducing beam scattering, the horizontal slit has two Glidcop blocks with a grazing incidence angle of $10^{\circ}$ of a grazing-incidence knife-edge configuration. The blocks adjust the slit gap by being translated along guides by two actuating bars, respectively. Water flowing through holes, drilled along the actuating bars, cools the heat-load of both blocks. The vortical slit has the same structure as the horizontal slit except its installation direction with respect to the vacuum chamber and its grazing incidence angle. By virtue of a pair of blocks translating on guides, no alignment between both blocks is required and the installed slits show stable operating performance. The cooling performance of the two slits has been also shown to be acceptable. In this paper, the detailed explanation for the design of the two slits is presented and their operating performance is discussed.
The aim of this study was to provide fundamental data in training to improve athletes' competitiveness through the comparative analysis of kinematic variables according to the types of stance. For this study, the subjects selected 4 Junior Weight lifters. Subjects performed two type(8-type and 11-type) Dead-lift and their performance was sampled at 60frame/sec. using four high-speed digital video cameras. After digitizing images from four cameras, the two-dimensional coordinates were used to produce three-dimensional coordinates of the 15 body segments(20 joint makers and 2 bar makers). And the results were as follows. 1. As for the time required for stances, 8-type motion was faster than 11-type motion. 2. As for the body-center shift in stances, 8-type motion was bigger than 11-type motion in back and forth motion shift, and 11-type motion was bigger than 8-type motion in right and left, up and down motion shift. 3. As for the speed of a body-center and a babel, 8-type motion was faster than 11-type motion. 4. As for the motion-trace of a babel in stances, 8-type motion was bigger than 11-type in back and forth, right and left motion and 11-type motion was bigger than 8-type in up and down motion. 5. As for the body-angles in stances, 8-type motion was bigger than 11-type in the stance angle, and 11-type motion is bigger than 8-type in the angles of a coxa, a knee and an ankle. As a result of the comparative analysis between 8-type and 11-type stance of Junior Weight lifters dead-lift, both were generally similar in variables, but 8-type motion was more stable than 11-type in aspects of time, speed, center shift, angle change.
For the connections between modular units in modular buildings, the bolted joints with connector plates are used commonly. The strength of structure is determined by the weakest part of structure and the connections may be weaker than the members being joined. Therefore, to check the safety of modular building, the structural performance of connections between modular units as well as that of beam-to-column connections should be evaluated. In this study, the behavior of module to module connection with straight and cross shaped connector plates is investigated by lateral cyclic tests according to KBC2009 0722.2.4 which shall be conducted by controlling the story drift angle in the width and the longitudinal direction respectively. All of test results generally show the stable ductile behavior up to 0.04rad drift levels and the tests in longitudinal direction show a superior energy dissipation per cycle in each of the load steps. However, the straight shaped connector plates have the degradation of stiffness with cyclic loading and the larger drift angle of column than the cross shaped connector plates.
