  • The paper presents how to update impedance control parameters for dual-arm manipulators using EMG signals and motions of the operator. Since the hand motions of the dual-arm are modeled to be the mass-spring-damper system in this paper, the impedance parameter update method is an important issue to reflect the operator's force. However, task space inertia to be used as the mass parameter goes to infinity if the manipulator approaches a kinematic singularity. To alleviate this issue, the impedance (stiffness and damping) parameters are divided with a diagonal element of the task space inertia. Also, the stiffness and damping matrices are updated using the normalized EMG signals captured from the operator's forearm. Through this process, the motion of the dual-arm manipulator is more stabilized even though it approaches the kinematic singularity.

  • Syngas laminar burning velocity measurements were carried out at atmospheric pressure and ambient temperature using the Bunsen flame configuration with nozzle burner as a fundamental study on flame stability of syngas fuel. Representative syngas mixture compositions ($H_2$:CO) such as 25:75%, 50:50% and 75:25% and equivalence ratios from 0.5 to 1.4 have been conducted. Average laminar burning velocities have been determined by the stabilized nozzle burner flames using the angle method, radical surface area method and compared with the data obtained from the other literatures. And the results of each experimental methodologies in the various composition ratios and equivalence ratios were coincided with the result of numerical simulation. Especially, it was confirmed that there was necessary to choice a more accurate measurement methodology even the same static flame method for the various composition ratios of syngas fuel including hydrogen. Also, it was reconfirmed that the laminar burning velocities gradually increased with the increasing of hydrogen content in a fuel mixture.

  • The purpose is to prove the newly established 'UNBONDED CAPPING' method for Concrete Strength Tests. Day by day, concrete buildings and structure became high-rising and magnificently vast scheduled, as contributed from the development of improved equipments that suitable to specific construction works and high qualitied Admixture, the qualities of the concrete was highly improved. It is very important that the concrete strength tests and evaluation should be carried out in the manner that as soon as the concrete is placed so that dismantling form works can be done in time and that may enabling reducing construction period directly related with the costs of the project. However, the conventional capping method of concrete specimen requires more manpower and consuming times, As for the Sulfur capping, there may be incurred accidential fire and generation of Gas, what is more there stands limitation in precise evaluation of strength test results because of variation in capping method results may vary in concrete strength test results. Not necessarily emphasize, the compression strength of the concrete is the most valuable basic data essential to control the qualities of the concrete and that should be carried out accurately. in this study evaluation of the compressive strength test results comparing stabilized concrete capping method for Cement Paste capping, Sulfur-paste capping ,High Gypsum capping and recently flowing the Grinding with the UNBONDED CAPPING' method to provide reliable and economical concrete strength testing.

  • Methodology for suppressing or recovering the distorted spectra, which may occur due to mutual non-uniformity and nonlinear response when a multi-detector is simultaneously operated for gamma spectroscopy, is presented with respect to its applicability to stabilization of spectra having the non-identical feature using modified full spectrum reallocation method. The modified full-spectrum reallocation method is extended to provide multiple coefficients that describe the gain drift for multi-division of the spectrum and they were incorporated into an optimization process utilizing a random sampling algorithm. Significant performance improvements were observed with the use of multiple coefficients for solving partial peak dislocation. In this study, our achievements to confirm the stabilization of spectrum having differences in moments and modify the full spectrum reallocation method provide the feasibility of the method and ways to minimize the implication of the non-linear responses normally associated with inherent characteristics of the detector system. We believe that this study will not only simplify the calibration process by using an identical response curve but will also contribute to simplifying data pre-processing for various studies as all spectra can be stabilized with identical channel widths and numbers.

  • It is well-known that a meta-stable fcc bulk Fe has an antiferromagnetic (AFM) ground state and could be synthesized by growing Fe on a proper fcc metal substrate. In this study magnetism of Fe monolayers on nonmagnetic fcc transition metal (Cu, Rh, Pd, and Ag) (001) surfaces has been investigated using the all-electron full-potential linearized augmented plane wave method. The Fe monolayers on Rh(001) and Pd(001) surfaces were calculated to be stabilized in an AFM state, whereas the Fe monlayers on Cu(001) and Ag(001) surfaces are stabilized in a ferromagnetic (FM) state. Noting that Cu and Ag have the smallest and largest lattice constants and the fcc bulk Fe with a larger lattice constant is getting stabilized in a ferromagnetic state, it is unexpectable and interesting. The calculated magnetic moments of the Fe atoms on Cu, Rh, Pd, and Ag(001) surfaces are 2.811, 2.945, 2.987, and 2.990 $_{{\mu}B}$ in FM states and 2.624, 2.879, 2.922, and 3.001 $_{{\mu}B}$ in AFM states.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of low temperature degradation (LTD) on the bonding strength of yttria-stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystal (Y-TZP). The push-shear bond test method was used to investigate the core-veneer bonding strength of industrially manufactured Y-TZP core ceramic and manufacturer recommended veneering ceramic. Four groups from ceramic-zirconia specimens (n=28; n=7 per group) were assigned into four experimental aging conditions, namely storage in an autoclave at $134^{\circ}C$ for 0, 3, 5, 10 hours. Bonding strength was obtained using a universal testing machine with crosshead speed 0.5 mm/min. Data were statistically analyzed using one-way ANOVA and Tukey's test (${\alpha}=0.05$). In bonding strength test, the group which was treated with LTD showed lower bonding strength than no treated group. The ceramic-zirconia bonding strength was affected by LTD (p<0.05). Digital microscope examination of the fracture surface showed mixed failures with adhesive and cohesive types in LTD with treated Y-TZP groups.

  • Neutron single crystal and powder diffraction techniques have been applied to the structure analysis of yttria-stabilized zirconium, Z $r_{0.73}$ $Y_{0.27}$ $O_{1.87}$., prepared by the skull-melting method. The crystal structure has been determined to be cubic symmetry, space group Fm/equation omitted/ with a=5.155(2)$\AA$, V=136.99(5)$\AA$, Z=4, and R(F)=5.65%, $\omega$R(I)=10.57% for 70 integrated intensities of Bragg Peaks observed from single crystal of Z $r_{0.73}$ $Y_{0.27}$ $O_{1.87}$. The stabilizer atoms randomly occupy the zirconium sites and there are displacements of oxygen atoms with amplitudes of $\Delta$/a~0.033 and 0.11 along <110> and <100> directions from the ideal positions of the fluorite structure, respectively. There are no significant differences in crystallographic data between the single crystal and powder studies. Diffraction pattern after Rietveld refinement, using neutron powder data, has shown the evidence of a tetragonal impurity phase, or a slight tetragonal distortion.

  • In this paper, field measurement of the Block Type Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) wall curved section was performed, and the reinforced area of the curved part is studied through the result. MSE method has been applied to various fields because of easy construction and excellent economic efficiency, so that it can be easily access in our life. However due to lack of compaction and stress concentration phenomenon, cracks and collapse occur in the curve of MSE wall, which is important for safety. The cause of collapse is lack of research on curved section, lack of design criteria, lack of construction due to economical efficiency and shortening of construction period, insufficient compaction space. In this study, therefore, it was examined the existing design and construction standards, analyzed the cause through accident examples of the curved section of the Block Type MSE wall. As a result, the horizontal displacement of the curved section was 90% higher than that of the straight section and 60% higher than that of the concave section. In the case of the convex section in the curved section reinforcement region, the maximum displacement is shown in the H/2 section in the horizontal direction from the center of the MSE wall, and the range of influence from H is shown. In the case of the concave section, the maximum displacement is shown in the center, The minimum displacement was confirmed in H/4 section in the horizontal direction from the center of the MSE wall. As a basic study on the reinforcement area rehabilitation through the actual construction of block type MSE wall, the behaviors of the straight part and the curved part were compared and analyzed. And analyzed the reinforced area in order to reduce the damage of the stress concentration phenomenon and secure the safety.

  • In this paper, iron ore tailings (IOT) were separated from the tailings field and used to prepare cement stabilized macadam (CSM) with porous basalt aggregate. First, the basic properties of the raw materials were studied. Porous basalt was replaced by IOT at ratios of 0, 20 %, 40 %, 60 %, 80 %, and 100 % as fine aggregate to prepare CSM, and the effects of different cement dosage (4 %, 5 %, 6 %) on CSM performance were also investigated. CSM's durability and mechanical performance with ages of 7 d, 28 d, and 90 d were studied with the unconfined compression strength test, splitting tensile strength test, compressive modulus test and freeze-thaw test, respectively. The changes in Ca2+ content in CSM of different ages and different IOT ratios were analyzed by the ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) titration method, and the micro-morphology of CSM with different ages and different IOT replaced ratio were observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). It was found that with the same cement dosage, the strengths of the IOT-replaced CSM were weaker than that of the porous basalt aggregate at early stage, and the strength was highest at the replaced ratio of 60 %. With a cement dosage of 4 %, the unconfined compressive strength of CSM without IOT was increased by 6.78 % at ages from 28 d to 90 d, while the splitting tensile strength increased by 7.89 %. However, once the IOT replaced ratio reached 100 %, the values increased by about 76.24 % and 17.78 %, which was better than 0 % IOT. The CSM-IOT performed better than the porous basalt CSM at 90 d age. This means IOT can replace porous basalt fine aggregate as a pavement base.

  • The present work is an experimental and analytical study on a flexible disk rotating close to a rigid rotating disk in open air. In the analytical study, the air flow in the gap between the flexible disk and the rigid disk is modeled using Navier-Stokes and continuity equations while the flexible disk is modeled using the linear plate theory. The flow equations are discretized using the cell centered finite volume method (FVM) and solved numerically with semi-implicit pressure-linked equations (SIMPLE algorithm). The spatial terms in the disk equation are discretized using the finite difference method (FDM) and the time integration is performed using fourth-order Runge-Kutta method. An experimental test-rig is designed to investigate the dynamics of the flexible disk when rotating close to a co-rotating, a counter-rotating and a fixed rigid disk, which works as a stabilizer. The effects of rotational speed, initial gap height and inlet-hole radius on the flexible disk displacement and its vibration amplitude are investigated experimentally for the different types of stabilizer. Finally, the analytical and experimental results are compared.
