  • In this paper, an adaptive IIR (infinite impulse response) notch filter of lattice type is constructed and its adaptation algorithm is proposed for the detection and retrieval of a sine wave signal embedded in noise. A modified method which adapts only one coefficient of the filter is also suggested. All these methods adapt the coefficients while keepting the poles of the filter inside the unit circle on z-plane, and thus they satisfy the condition on the stability of the IIR filter after it has converged. To investigate the convergence characteristics of these methods such as convergence speed and output S/N ratio, intensive computer simulation has been performed by varying the frequency of the sine wave and the input S/N ratio. And the results of the simulation have been compared to those of Rao and Kung's which shows relatively fast convergence speed. The methods proposed here, especially the second one. shows faster convergence speed and higher output S/N ratio than the Rao and Kung's.

  • Because of the high increasing rate of load demand, these days the necessity of deciding what optimum reserve level is appropriate to most stably supply electricity is being emphasized. This research studies the downward tendency of reverve ratio by analyzing the trend of change of the network scale, reserve, and reserve ratio while optimum reserve has been increased as the network system scale grow up. This means, at this moment 6,000MW is optimum level for short term prospect of power supply and demand. And also, it has been analyzed that, as the annual peak load exceeded 50,000MW, confirming the amount of optimum reserve level is more stable than keeping 10 to 12% reserve ratio.

  • This study is a research on the dynamic characteristics of non-linear dynamic vibration absorber in which harmonic motion is applied to the foundation of the main system. The amplitude ratio of the system with non-linear dynamic vibration absorber was obtained by harmonic balance methods and the unstable region was determined by stability analysis. As a result of study, the amplitude ratio decreases as mass ratio increases.

  • According to spread volume of B(BiPbCuO) layer, composition ratio and each stage of sintering process, we studied stability of high Tc superconductor phase and generation and growth movement of superconducting phase. The dual layer composed of SrCaCuO and BiPbCuO compound were prepared to develop the Bi-2223 superconductor[108K] through interaction and diffusion during sintering process. The dual layer samples were sintered at 830.deg. C for 0-210 hours. From the result, the optimum conditions were : spread volume(A:B=1:0.6), sintering time(210h) and composition ratio(A:S $r_{2}$C $a_{2}$C $u_{2}$- $O_{x}$, B:B $i_{1.9}$P $b_{0.5}$C $u_{3}$ $O_{y}$) at 830.deg. • A hypoid gear is a type of spiral bevel gear whose axis does not intersect with the axis of the meshing gear. The size of a hypoid gear is compact and the ratio of contact is high; therefore, the noise is lower than in other types. Due to these characteristics, the hypoid gear is commonly used in manufacturing processes such as those of escalators and subway screen doors. The purpose of this paper is to develop a reducer using the hypoid gear. In order to check the stability of the proposed reducer, 3D modeling is carried out by CATIA, and a structural analysis is performed using FEM (a finite element method).

  • In this paper, the fuel atomization effect of a spark-ignition engine on the lean burn characteristics is studied. The fuel atomization is enhanced by heating the inside of the intake manifold with electric heater. Several operating parameters including cyclic variation are expressed against the air-fuel ratio from the experimental results. The fuel atomization gives much influence on the combustion stability. As the intake manifold is heated, the combustion duration decreased and the value of COV in the lean region as well as in the theoretical equivalence ratio became smaller than of not-heated.

  • Herringbone groove journal bearing (HGJB) is developed to improve the static and dynamic performances of hydrodynamic journal bearing. In this study, static and dynamic compressible isothermal lubrication problems are analyzed by the finite element method together with the Newton-Raphson iterative procedure. This analysis is introduced for prediction of the static and dynamic characteristics of air lubricated HGJB for various bearing configurations. The bearing load characteristics and dynamic characteristics are dependent on geometric parameters such as asymmetric ratio, groove depth ratio, groove width ratio and groove angle.

  • This paper presents parallel-connected inverters to achieve accurate proportional power sharing. Due to line impedance mismatch, reactive power cannot be distributed proportionally when using the conventional $P-{\omega}$ and $\mathcal{Q}-E$ droop. In order to realize reactive proportional power sharing, the ratio of the droop coefficients should be inversely proportional to their power-sharing ratios. Meanwhile, the ratio of the line impedance should be inversely proportional to the desired power-sharing ratio, which is very difficult to be met in practice. In order to deal with this issue, a practical control strategy is presented. By measuring the PCC voltage and using the virtual impedance, the output impedance of individual inverters is reconstructed to counteract the line impedance effect. In order to guarantee system stability, a low pass filter is designed to suppress the bandwidth of the line compensation. Finally, the simulation and experimental results are given to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.

  • R744 has been appropriated for substitute refrigerant, because of its high stability, and environment-friendly nature as a natural refrigerant. To analyze the cooling performance of a refrigeration system in a refrigerator truck using R744 according to the blocking ratio, an analytical model of the refrigeration system was developed under frost conditions, using EES. The performance of the refrigeration system was predicted with the indoor and outdoor air temperature, outdoor air velocity, and compressor speed. As a result, the system performance decreased, with the increase of frost growth. When the blocking ratio was 40.4% in the basic condition, the refrigeration capacity was decreased by 27.1%, compared to the non-frost condition.

  • This article deals with the frequency analysis of viscoelastic sandwich disk with graphene nano-platelets (GPLs) reinforced viscoelastic concrete (GPLRVC) face sheets and honeycomb core. The honeycomb core is made of aluminum due to its low weight and high stiffness. The rule of the mixture and modified Halpin-Tsai model are engaged to provide the effective material constant of the concrete. By employing Hamilton's principle, the governing equations of the structure are derived and solved with the aid of the Generalize Differential Quadrature Method (GDQM). In this paper, viscoelastic properties are modeled according to Kelvin-Voigt viscoelasticity. The deflection as the function of time can be solved by the fourth-order Runge-Kutta numerical method. Afterward, a parametric study is carried out to investigate the effects of the outer to inner radius ratio, hexagonal core angle, thickness to length ratio of the concrete, the weight fraction of GPLs into concrete, and the thickness of honeycomb core to inner radius ratio on the frequency of the viscoelastic sandwich disk with honeycomb core and FG-GPLRVC face sheet.
