전자식 가속제어장치 안전기준에 대한 실험적 고찰 (An Experimental Study on the Safety Standard of Electronic Throttle Control System)

  • Optimal engine control is needed to cope with the global environmental regulations that are globally enforced. For optimum engine control, the electronic throttle control system (ETCS) is a prerequisite. Automotive makers are having an effect on reducing emissions and improving fuel economy by applying ETCS which is designed to secure stability. The ETCS controls the output of the throttle valve by passing the output value of the accelerator position sensor (APS) to the engine control unit (ECU). In this study, the authors investigated the safety standards of domestic and overseas accelerator control system and tried to understand how the air flow control affects the engine output by replacing the throttle. The authors suggest an improvement proposal of safety standard based on the result of driving evaluation by various modes.

  • 본 연구는 Kerosene-LOx를 추진제로 하는 가스발생기용 스월 동축형 인젝터의 리세스 길이에 따른 내부 혼합 유동의 특성 파악을 목표로 하였다. 리세스 길이는 분무 안정성, 내부 LOx post 손상 등에 영향을 미치는 중요한 요소로 액막두께, 매니폴드 압력 측정 및 내부 유동 가시화를 통해 리세스의 영향을 분석하였고, 추진제 혼합 전후의 액막두께 변화를 측정함으로써 주파수 특성을 분석하였다.

  • Since regulations of exhaust emissions are continuously reinforced, studies to reduce harmful emissions during the cold start period of SI engines have been carried out very extensively worldwide. During the cold start period, raising the temperature of cold exhaust gas is a key strategy to minimize the light-off time of three way catalysts. In this study, a synthetic gas containing a large amount of hydrogen was injected into the exhaust manifold to raise the exhaust gas temperature and to reduce harmful emissions. The authors tried to evaluate changes in exhaust gas temperature and harmful emissions through controlling the engine operating parameters such as ignition timings and lambda values. Also the authors investigated both combustion stability and reduction of harmful emissions. Experimental results showed that combustion of the synthetic gas in the exhaust manifold is a very effective way for solving the problems of harmful emissions and light-off time. The results also showed that the strategy of retarded ignition timings and increased air/fuel ratios with ESGI is effective in raising exhaust gas temperature and reducing harmful emissions. Futhermore, the results showed that engine operating parameters ought to be controlled to lambda = 1.2 and ignition timing = $0{\sim}3^{\circ}$ conditions to reduce harmful emissions effectively under stable combustion conditions.

  • Experimental studies on determination of the supply leading time of propellants to combustion chamber have been made to stably and efficiently guarantee the ignition process with liquid rocket engine. The propellant used is a Jet A-1 as fuel and a liquid oxygen as oxidizer. Unlike impinging FOOF type of injectors are arranged radially and the designed O/F ratio is 2.34. The present experiment program also includes the stability on the quadlet type of ignitor using the triethylalumimum as an ignition source and injector life tests. Experimental results clarifies that the propellant supply through LOx leading to combustion chamber is proper for stable ignition and combustion processes based on the fuel and oxidizer manifold pressures, combustion chamber pressure, and the variation of flame length from the nozzle exit with lapse time, and shows that the leading supply time of propellants affects the engine performance little. The effect of positioning cooling holes is remarkable to protect the injector face.

The propellant used is a Kerosene as fuel and a liquid oxygen as oxidizer. FOOF type of three injectors are set with an angle of 135。 and the combustion chamber pressure is 200psi. The present experiment program also includes the stability on the quadlet type of ignitor using the triehylaluminum (TEAL) as an ignition source. Experimental results clarifies that the propellant supply through LOx leading to combustion chamber is proper for stable ignition and combustion processes based on the fuel and oxidizer manifold pressures, combustion chamber pressure, and the variation of flame length from the nozzle exit with lapse time, and shows that the leading supply time pf propellants effects the engine performance little.

Effect of Kinetic Degrees of Freedom on Hierarchical Organization of Multi-element Synergies during Force Production and Releasing Tasks

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of degrees of freedom on the multi-synergies in two hierarchies of human hand system during force production and releasing tasks. Method: In this study, the constrained movements of the aiming and releasing actions using both hands and fingers during archery-like shooting were implemented as experimental tasks. The participants produced a pulling force holding the customized frame (mimicking an archery bow, with a set of force transducers) and kept it consistently for about 5 seconds, and released fingers as quickly as possible in a self-paced manner within the next 5 seconds. An analytical method based on the uncontrolled manifold hypothesis was used to quantify the stability index (synergy index) in two hierarchies including two hands (upper hierarchy) and individual fingers (lower hierarchy). Results: The results confirmed that the positive synergy pattern showed simultaneously at the upper and lower hierarchies, and the kinetic degrees of freedom were associated with the increment of hierarchical synergy indices and the performance indices. Also, the synergy indices of both hierarchies showed significant positive correlations with the performance accuracy during the task. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that the human control system actively uses extra degrees of freedom to stabilize task performance variables. Further increasing the degree of freedom at one level of hierarchy induces positive interactions across hierarchical control levels, which in turn positively affects the accuracy and precision of task performance.

시공 중 흙막이 벽체 수평변위 예측을 위한 앙상블 모델 개발 (Development of an Ensemble Prediction Model for Lateral Deformation of Retaining Wall Under Construction)

  • 도심지 지하굴착 공사가 대형화되면서 공사 중 안전사고에 대한 위험요인이 더욱 증가하고 있다. 이에 따라 공사현장의 위험요소를 모니터링하고 사전에 예측할 수 있는 기술이 필요하다. 굴착으로 인한 흙막이 벽체의 변형을 예측하는 방법에는 크게 경험식과 수치해석 두 가지 방법으로 분류할 수 있으며, 최근에는 인공지능 기술의 발달과 함께 머신러닝 기법을 활용한 예측 모델이 한 가지 방법으로 자리 잡고 있다. 본 연구에서는 예측력과 효율성이 우수한 부스팅 계열 알고리즘 및 앙상블 모델을 이용하여 시공 중 흙막이 벽체 변형을 예측하는 모델을 구축하였다. 지하흙막이 공사의 설계-시공-유지관리 과정에서 도출되는 자료들을 복합적으로 활용하여 데이터베이스를 구축하고, 이 자료를 토대로 학습모델을 만들고 성능을 평가하였다. 모델 성능 평가 결과, 높은 정확도로 흙막이 벽체 변형을 예측할 수 있었으며, 지반계측 자료를 학습에 활용함으로써 실제 시공과정의 특성이 반영된 예측결과를 제시할 수 있었다. 본 연구에서 구축한 예측 모델을 활용하여 시공 중 흙막이 벽체의 안정성 평가 및 모니터링에 활용할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

8톤급 다단연소 사이클 로켓엔진 연소기 혼합헤드 설계 (Design of Mixing Head Part of Combustion Chamber for 8tonf Class Staged Combustion Cycle Rocket Engine)

  • Staged combustion cycle engines are well known to have high combustion efficiencies and specific impulse. In this study, design of mixing head part of combustion chamber for 8tonf class staged combustion cycle rocket engine (ES-08) was performed. Structural stability of the mixing head part of the combustion chamber is very important design factor because it is loaded by high temperature and high pressure of fuel and oxidizer as well as by thrust load simultaneously. Uniformity of flow distributions of the propellants to the injectors is also important factor. First, a basic configuration for the ES-08 mixing head part was designed on the basis of the structural design requirements. And then, the structural analyses were performed on the basic configuration as well as some of reinforced configurations. As the structural analyses results, the most stable configuration was selected for the ES-08 mixing head part. In order to examine the uniformity of the flow distributions of the propellants through the manifold of the mixing head, flow analysis was performed based on the selected configuration. The results of the flow analysis showed that the fuel and the oxidizer were uniformly supplied to the injector.

Cooled EGR 시스템의 EGR률과 연료분사시기가 소형 디젤엔진의 배기 배출물 특성에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (Effect of EGR Rate and Injection Timing on the Characteristics of Exhaust Emissions in Light-duty Diesel Engine)

  • Cooled EGR system is widely used to reduce NOx emissions in diesel engine. But when EGR rate was increased, combustion stability was worsened and PM level was increased. So determining optimized control point of EGR rate is important. In order to determine this point, it is important to figure out the effect of EGR system on the exhaust emissions. In this research, NOx and PM emissions were analyzed with various coolant temperature supplied to the EGR cooler at several positions such as downstream of turbocharger, upstream and downstream of DPF. Effects of some variables such as EGR rate, hot / cooled EGR and change of injection timing were estimated. And $CO_2$ emissions were measured at exhaust and intake manifold to calculate EGR rate at each engine operating condition. Also combustion analysis was performed in each engine operating conditions. In the result of this study, there was trade-off between NOx emissions and PM emissions. When EGR rate was increased, combustion pressure was decreased and COV of IMEP was increased.
