Chitosan has reactive amino and hydroxyl groups which can be used to chemically alter its properties under the mild reaction conditions. Thus the cationization of Tencel with Chitosan is effective to modify the fabric. To investigate the modified properties of Tencel fabric, the tests were performed under the several finishing process with enzyme/glutaraldehyde/softener. The internal structure of Tencel which has the structure of cellulose II wasn't changed by enzyme, chitosan and crosslinking agent treatment and the thermal stability was improved by chitosan and crosslinking agent treatment. Wrinkle recovery angle under the dry condition increased highly until $0.1\textrm{mol}/\ell$ of glutaraldehyde concentration, and then decreased. Tensile strength of modified Tencel fabric decreased with increasing of weight loss, but it was improved more or less by chitosan, crosslinking agent and softener. Moisture regain was improved by enzyme and chitosan treatment. And antibacterial activity showed nearly 100% on Tencel fabric treated with 0.5% chitosan and adsorption of metal ion increased with increasing of chitosan concentration.

A novel polymeric sunscreen agent was developed. It was prepared by the coupling reaction of 2-ethylhexyl 4-hydroxycinnamate with poly vinylbenzyl chloride(PVBC, average MW 6,500). In this reaction the reactivity was mostly affected by catalyst. In the absence of catalyst the yield was approximately 55% and in the presence of tetrabutylammonium bromide the yield was about 65%, but in the presence of tetrabutylammonium iodide the yield was 100% to give a average molecular weight 20,000 polymeric sunscreen agent. There were no side reactions, and its structure and purity were confirmed by various analytical methods, such as NMR, IR, and so on. UV radiation absorption efficiency is more than 70% compared with that of octyl methoxycinnamate. The solubility in polar oil, for example C12-15 alkylbenzoate and caprylic/capric triglyceride, is more than 50%. It showed high stability in the time course of test including acceleration test. This polymer is safe to skin because of poor permeability to skin, no side products in the process of preparing, and easy elimination of excess starting materials.

Organic insulating materials can cause fatal toxic gases when burned, which can lead to human injury. As a combustible material, the risk of fire spreading is great. Therefore, there is a need for a study on the lightweight cured body for the non-combustible inorganic insulation to replace the flammable organic insulation. This study aims to examine the properties of lightweight foamed concrete according to the dilution concentration of animal foaming agent which forms a closed void when foaming as a part of the experiment to examine the utility of the lightweight foamed concrete as an insulating material. Bubbles occupy a large volume of lightweight foam concrete and have a great influence on the properties. Therefore, the stability of the bubble is very important, and as a result of the experiment, it is determined that 3% of the smallest vesicles are prepared at the proper dilution concentration.
We functionalized a wear-resistant carbon-based MoS2 filler to solve its limited wear condition problem. The filler exhibits excellent lubricative properties. The surface modification of MoS2 was carried out using a (3-glycidyloxypropyl)trimethoxysilane (GPTMS) silane coupling agent to improve the low compatibility and dispersibility of the filler that generally degrade the performance of composites. A silane coupling agent was employed for the functionalization of MoS2, and its effect on the wear resistance of MoS2/Polyamide-6,6 was investigated. The silanization of MoS2 was identified by contact angle analysis and Fourier-transform infrared, energy dispersive X-ray, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopies. The wear resistance of the composite was found to be improved significantly by the surface functionalization of MoS2.

In this study, we tried the various experiments using the emulsifier, electrolyte, stabilizer and gelling agent in order to improve a stability of low viscosity W/O emulsion. As a result, when we used polyglyceryl-4 diisostearate/polyhydroxystearate/sebacate as a main emulsifier, PEG-30 dipolyhydroxystearate and cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 dimethicone as a co-emulsifier for stable emulsification system, 0.5 % sodium chloride as an electrolyte, 1 % distearyldimonium chloride as a stabilizer, 0.5 % glyceryl behenate/eicosadioate as an oil gelling agent, emulsion particle is the best. Also, we got the stable and low viscosity W/O emulsion maintained at a constant viscosity at 2,000 cps or less. In addition, we were able to examine the possibility of development of low viscosity fluids type sunscreens with excellent feeling and stability through the application of inorganic sunscreen agents.
Effect of different alkane based solvents on the stability of emulsion liquid membrane was investigated using normal alkanes (n-hexane, n-heptane, n-octane and n-decane) under various operating parameters of surfactant concentration, emulsification time, internal phase concentration, volume ratio of internal phase to organic phase, volume ratio of emulsion phase to external phase and stirring speed. Results of stability revealed that emulsion liquid membrane containing n-octane as solvent and span-80 (5 % (w/w)) as emulsifying agent presented the highest amount of emulsion stability (the lowest breakage) compared with other solvents; however, operating parameters (surfactant concentration (5% (w/w)), emulsification time (6 min), internal phase concentration (0.05 M), volume ratio of internal phase to organic phase (1/1), volume ratio of emulsion phase to external phase (1/5) and stirring speed (300 rpm)) were also influential on improving the stability (about 0.2% breakage) and on achieving the most stable emulsion. The membrane with the highest stability was employed to extract acridine orange with various concentrations (10, 20 and 40 ppm) from water. The emulsion liquid membrane prepared with n-octane as the best solvent almost removed 99.5% of acridine orange from water. Also, the prepared liquid membrane eliminated completely (100%) other cationic dyes (methylene blue, methyl violet and crystal violet) from water demonstrating the efficacy of prepared emulsion liquid membrane in treatment of dye polluted waters.
Glutathione was converted by $HNO_2$ into a S-nitrosothiol which was stable in solution and atypically so even as a solid. FAB/MS and IR data have been obtained for the confirmation of structure of S-nitrosogulathione in the crystalline state.
Gypsum products are used for the preparation of stone casts of oral and maxillofacial structures and as important adjuncts to dental laboratory operations involved in the production of dental prosthesis. Accuracy and dimensional stability over time are properties of concern in fixed prothodontics. Gypsum products used in denstry are a form calcium sulfate hemihydrate and are classified as 1 of 5 types according to International Standard Organization(ISO) 6873. All die materials exhibit some dimensional change during setting, but expansion and contraction during setting and dimensional changes in response to varations in temperature and the water-powder ratio must be minimal. Although numerous investigators have studied the properties of die materials, several products have been introduced recently with manufacturer claims of superior dimensional stalility. The aim of this study was to determine the surface properties using various separating materials of dental gypsum products The results were as follows 1. In the comparison of first and second plaster distances before separation in different separating agent, there was no significant difference except using Trio separating agent. The interface using Trio separating agent forms like to pores. 2. In the comparison of first and second plaster distances after separation in different separating agent, there was significant difference. The interface of plasters using WD-40, Trio and Vaseline was showed some gaps. Each they were measured at average 7.97 $\pm$ 2.07 ${\mu}m$, 63.09 $\pm$ 23.25 ${\mu}m$, 27.59 $\pm$ 4.19 ${\mu}m$. 3. In the comparison of the surface, the surface of control sample(using none seperating agent) showed irregular properties and the surface using Trio and Vaseline become wrinkled. Specially the surface using Vaseline was showed shiny properties. But the surface using MAGIC SEP, Plaster seperating agent, WD-40 showed regular properties.

Present silica dispersing agents are based mainly on fatty acid derivatives of Zn, K and mixture of fatty acid and metallic soaps are used to increase activity. The viscosity of silica filled rubber is lowered by Zn-K soap type silica dispersing agent, thus fluidity of hydrocarbon chains and processibility is improved. Silica dispersing agent should not exert an influence on chracteristics of vulcanization. But scorch and curing time is shortened by Zn-K soap type silica dispersing agent. A newly developed silica dispersing agent, which is a nonmetal type agent, reduced the viscosity and hardness of silica compounding rubber, and the highly increased degree of dispersion of silica is caused by interaction of silica and rubber. Also it did not affect the curing characteristics and scorch stability of silica compounding rubber.

Polypropylene (PP) composites with wood flour/wax/coupling agent were manufactured by melt compounding and injection molding. The influence of wood flour(WF), wax, and coupling agent on the mechanical and thermal properties of the composites was investigated. The addition of wood flour to neat PP has the higher tensile modulus and strength compared with neat PP. The presence of wax also improved the tensile modulus. At the same loading of PP and WF, the addition of coupling agent highly decreased the tensile modulus, and increased the tensile strength. From thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), the addition of wax improved the thermal stability of the composites in the later stages of degradation. The presence of MAPP and wood flour in turn decreased thermal stabilities of composites. From differential scanning calorimetry analysis (DSC), neither the loading of wax. nor the presence of MAPP has shown significant effect on the thermal transition of composites.
