  • To investigate the motion-induced aeroelastic effects (or aerodynamic feedback effects) on a square cylinder in uniform flow, a series of wind tunnel tests involving the pressure measurement of a rigid model (RM) and simultaneous measurement of the pressure and vibration of an aeroelastic model (AM) have been systematically carried out. More specifically, the aerodynamic feedback effects on the structural responses, on the mean and root-mean-square wind pressures, on the power spectra and coherence functions of wind pressures at selected locations, and on the aerodynamic forces were investigated. The results indicated the vibration in the lock-in range made the shedding vortex more coherent and better organized, and hence presented unfavorable wind-induced effects on the structure. Whereas the vibration in the non-lock-in range generally showed insignificant effects on the flow structures surrounding the square cylinder.

  • Almost all network systems provide an authentication mechanism based on user ID and password. In such system, it is easy to obtain the user password using a sniffer program with illegal eavesdropping. The one-time password and challenge-response method are useful authentication schemes that protect the user passwords against eavesdropping. In client/server environments, the one-time password scheme using time is especially useful because it solves the synchronization problem. In this paper, we present a new identification scheme: OPI(One Pass Identification). The security of OPI is based on the square root problem, and OPI is secure: against the well known attacks including pre-play attack, off-line dictionary attack and server comprise. A number of pass of OPI is one, and OPI processes the password and does not need the key. We think that OPI is excellent for the consuming time to verify the prover.

  • This paper presents a method of designing hybrid analog/asymmetrical square-root (SR) FIR filters. In addition to the conventional frequency domain constraints, the proposed method considers time-domain constraints as well, including the inter-symbol interference (ISI) and the opening of the eye pattern at the receiver output. This paper also reviews a systematic way to find the discrete-time equivalence of analog parts in a band-limited digital communication system. Thus, a phase equalizer can be easily realized to compensate for the nonlinear phase responses of the analog components. With the hybrid analog/SR FIR filter co-design, examples show that using the proposed method can result in a more robust ISI performance in the presence of the receiver clock jitter.

  • Mobile devices is getting to include more functions according to the demand of digital convergence. Applications based on 3D graphic calculation such as 3D games and navigation are one of the functions. 3D graphic calculation requires heavy calculation. Therefore, we need dedicated 3D graphic hardware unit with high performance. 3D graphic calculation needs a lot of complicated floating-point arithmetic operation. However, most of current mobile 3D graphics processors do not have efficient architecture for mobile devices because they are based on those for conventional computer systems. In this paper, we propose arithmetic units for special functions of lighting operation of 3D graphics. Transcendental arithmetic units are designed using approximation of logarithm function. Special function units for lighting operation such as reciprocal, square root, reciprocal of square root, and power can be obtained. The proposed arithmetic unit has lower error rate and smaller silicon area than conventional arithmetic architecture.

  • This paper describes a datuming scheme for a prestack dataset which uses wavefield depth extrapolation. The formulation of the prestack datuming algorithm is performed by finding the adjoint operator to the corresponding forward prestack wavefield extrapolation from a flat surface to an irregular surface. Here I used double-square-root (DSR) equation to extrapolate wavefield in prestack sense. This correspond to the forward model of the well known `survey sinking` prestack imaging algorithm.

  • The ride quality of agricultural tractor seats is evaluated based on the vibration of the human bodies. Tractor ride vibration levels have been measured at the person-seat interface along 7 axes(3 translational axes at the feet, 3 translational axes on a seat surface and 1 axis at the seat back), under different operating conditions. Since one of the most important parameters for ride comfort is the level and duration of the root mean square acceleration experienced, the ride values, such as the seat effective amplitude transmissibility, the component ride value, and the overall ride value based on acceleration root mean square are evaluated for a conventional tractor using frequency weighting functions and axis multiplying factors. The ride indices are also studied considering to the variation of vehicle speed and road profile.

  • An image processing techniques for image compression and its reconstruction are to be considered seriously for the generated huge size data as in the present multimedia environment based on the graphics. So far some approaches for this matter are proposed such as a Wavelet and JPEG method and got desirable result. In this paper, we have studied for the rms(root mean square) metric which is more effective than the existing sup(supremum)metric, and compared with sup metric by means of mathematical verification.

  • An ultrasonic synthetic aperture focusing technique (SAFT) using a root mean square (RMS) velocity model is proposed for pulse-echo immersion testing to improve the computational efficiency. Considering the immersion ultrasonic testing of a steel block as an example, three kinds of imaging were studied (B-Scan, SAFT imaging based on ray tracing technology and RMS velocity). The experimental results show that two kinds of SAFT imaging have almost the same imaging performance, while the efficiency of RMS velocity SAFT imaging is almost 25 times greater than the SAFT based on Snell's law.

  • A big data processing method to predict solar power generation using systems engineering approach is developed in this work. For developing analytical method, linear model (LM), support vector machine (SVN), and artificial neural network (ANN) technique are chosen. As evaluation indices, the cross-correlation and the mean square root of prediction error (RMSEP) are used. From multi-variable comparison test, it was found that ANN methodology provides the highest correlation and the lowest RMSEP.

  • The daily streamflow in the Yaluhe watershed located in the north-eastern part of China was simulated by DAWAST model and the water balance parameters of the model were calibrated by simplex method. Model verification tests were carried out. The range of root mean square error was 0.34∼1.50mm, that of percent error in volume was -16.9∼-62.0% and that of correlation coefficient was 0.727∼0.920. DAWAST model was revised to consider the phreatic evaporation from the ground water in the frozen soil by adjusting soil moisture content in the unsaturated layer at the end of the melting season. The results of estimation of the daily streamflow by the revised model were statistically improved, that is, the range of root mean square error was 0.31∼1.49mm, that of percent error in volume was -11.7∼-12.1%, and that of correlation coefficient was 0.810∼0.932. The accuracy of DAWAST model was improved and the applicability of DAWAST model was expanded to the frozen region.
