스퍼어기어의 단조에 관한 상계해석 (Upper Bound Analysis for Forging of Spur Gears)

  • Forging of spur gears has been investigated by means of upper-bound method. The term forging means forging of spur gears with solid cylindrical billets, hollow billets with flat punch. Kinematically admissbile velocity field for forging of spur gears has been proposed in this study. The 1/2 pitch of spur gear has been divided into seven dieformation regions, wherein, an involute curve has been introduced to represent the shape of die profile. Especially neutral surface has been introduced intor forging of hollow gears from hollow billets. By using the kinematically admissible velocity field, the powder requirements and suitable conditions for forging fo spur gears were successfully calculated with numerical method. According to the analysis , the acceptable number of teeth for forging of spur gears is from 15 to 20.

  • The cold precision forging of spur gears has been researched, and the effects of relief-hole shape and forging process on the spur gears forming has been analyzed. The results present that the forging load decreases when a suitability diameter of relief-hole is chosen, but the function is not obvious. The spur gears precision forging method with an adjustable movement of concave mould can benefit both the top and the bottom comers forming of the spur gears, full fill the tooth cavity, and decrease the forging load.

  • This work dealt with dynamic characteristics of spur gear and helical gear system to understand the gear vibration and noise. To find out dynamic characteristics in the gear system, a finite element model and an analytic model for the gear system were used. Using the models, the natural frequency and mode-shape characteristics of spur gears and helical gears were calculated. Two models show that natural frequencies of helical gears were lower than those of spur gears. Mode-shape characteristics of gear pairs by analytical model and some issues of finite element modeling were also discussed. Impact test was used to validate the finite element model.

  • A method to apply the approximation formulae[1] for tooth fillet and root stresses of a thin-rimmed rack to the calculation of stress state of thin-rimmed external and internal spur gears is introduced. The stress values by the method proposed in this paper have shown good agreement with those by the REM analysis and also by the stress measurement of strain survey investigation. By this method, reliable stress state at tooth fillet and root areas in the thin-rimmed external and internal spur gears can be easily calculated, and a practical design method for the bending strength of such thin-rimmed gears is established.

소결치차의 성능향상과 강도평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on Improvement and Estimation of Fatigue Strength in Sintering Spur Gear)

  • This paper deals with the bending fatigue strength of sintering spur gears. The test specimens are used to sintering spur gear to be consisted of Fe-C-Ni-Mn and SCM415 spur gear. The fatigue test at a constant stress amplitude is performed by using an electrohydraulic servo-controlled pulsating tester. The S-N curves are obtained and the enhancement of fatigue strength due to carburized treatment is clarified, Accordingly, this study presents the fatigue strength of sintering spur gear, SCM415 spur gear and carburized gears of them. The strength enhancement due to the carburized treatment is discussed.

  • This study deals with effects of heat-treatment on the fatigue strength of SNC815 spur gears. The test gears are heat-treated by two different treatments. After carburization, one group of the test gears is quenched directly, while the other group is fumace cooled, reheated then quenched. The fatigue test at a constant stress amplitude is performed by using an electrohydraulic servo-controlled pulsating tester. The S-N curves are obtained and illustrated. By comparing the estimated strength with the experimental results, the validity of the previous experimental formula, presented by the author for estimating the fatigue strength of carburized gears, was discussed on these tested gears.

  • In electric agricultural machine the gearhead is needed to convert the high speed low torque rotation motion generated by DC motor to lower speed high torque motion used by the vehicle. The gearhead consist of several spur gears works as reduction gears. Spur gear have straight tooth and are parallel to the axis of the wheel. Spur gears are the most easily visualized gears that transmit motion between two parallel shafts and easy to produce. The modeling and simulation of spur gears in DC motor gearhead is important to predict the actual motion behavior. A pair of spur gear tooth in action is generally subjected to two types of cyclic stress: contact stress and bending stress including bending fatigue. The stress may not attain their maximum values at the same point of contact fatigue. These types of failure can be minimized by analysis of the problem during the design stage and creating proper tooth surface profile with proper manufacturing methods. To improve its life expectation in this study modal and stress analysis of gearhead is simulated using ansys work bench software based on finite element method (FEM). The modal analysis was done to understand gearhead deformation behaviour when vibration occurs. FEM static stress analysis is also simulated on gearhead to simulate the gear teeth bending stress and contact stress behavior. This methodology serves as an approach for gearhead design evaluation, and the study of gear stress behavior in DC motor gearhead which is needed in the small workshop scale industries.

Simulation of Meshing for the Spur Gear Drive with Modified Tooth Surfaces

  • The authors have proposed methods (lead crowning and profile modification) for modifying the geometry of spur gears and investigated the contact pattern as well as the transmission errors to recommend the appropriate amount of modification. Based on the investigation, dynamic load of the modified spur gear drive has been calculated, which is helpful to predict the life of the designed gear drive. Computer programs for simulation of meshing, contact and dynamics of the modified spur gears have been developed. The developed theory is illustrated with numerical examples.
