  • The nonlinear vibration of the CRT shadow mask is analyzed in consideration of the V-shaped tension distribution and the effect of wire impact damping. The reduced order FEM model of the shadow mask is obtained from dynamic condensation for the mass and stiffness matrices. Damping wire is modeled using the lumped parameter method to effectively describe its contact interactions with the shadow mask. The nonlinear contact-impact model is composed of spring and damper elements, of which parameters are determined from the Hertzian contact theory and the restitution coefficient, respectively. The analysis model of the shadow mask with damping wires is experimentally verified through impact tests of shadow masks performed in a vacuum chamber. Using the validated analysis model of the shadow mask with damping wires, the‘design of experiments’technique is applied to search fur the optimal damping wire configuration so that the vibration attenuation of the shadow mask is maximized.

  • In the hot press forming process (HPF), a martensitic structure is obtained by controlling the cooling rate when cooling a boron sheet that is heated up to over $900^{\circ}C$. The HPF process has various advantages such as the improvement in formability and material properties and minimal spring back of the deformed materials. The factors related to the cooling rate depend on the heat transfer characteristics between heated materials and dies. Therefore, in this study, the cooling rate is controlled by adjusting the heat transfer coefficient of the material at the pressing process. And, the mechanical properties and microstructure of the deformed material is demonstrated during the HPF process where cold dies are used to form the heated steel plate. This is achieved by varying the major forming conditions that control the cooling rate regarded as the most important process parameter.

  • The purpose of this study is to clarify correlations between soil environments and the growth of trees in forests and thereon analyze effects of seasonal changes in such environments on such growth. To determine seasonal factors of soil affecting the Tree Vitality of Pinus thunbergii, first of all, the study designated the Tree Vitality as a dependent variable and soil hardness, moisture, pH, K, Na, Mg and Ca as independent variables. Then the study performed Pearson's coefficient analysis. To clarify what soil factors influence the seasonal growth of Pinus thunbergii multiple regression analysis is carried out, and findings are as follow; the growth of Pinus thunbergii was basically influenced by pH, followed by soil hardness in spring, K, followed by moisture in summer, and by soil hardness in winter. However, no soil factors affected the vitality at the significance level of 5% for t.

  • Geothermal heat pump system using standing column wells as their ground heat exchanger can be used as a highly efficient source of heating and cooling in massive buildings. But there is no case of a small scale residential house. So this study estimated heating coefficient of performance(COP) of geothermal heat pump system using standing column well type which is excellent in heat recovery in the residential house. As a result of analysis, The COP of heat pump is over average 6 and is excellent. And in consequence of making a comparative study according to the bleeding, the cop is higher in the case of bleeding. Therefore, bleeding affects the performance of the system. This study has shown performance result that stands on actual data. Therefore, this study provides ground data that needs when a low capacity of system designs for a residence with confidence elevation.

  • For a design of on/off solenoid actuator for valve actuating, designer must have the experimental knowledge as well as general electromagnetic formulas to design object. It is possible for theoretical knowledge to do the out-line design, but it is impossible to optimal design without experimental knowledge which only can be achieved through many repeated experiments. In addition, in present on/off type solenoid actuator field, the smaller, lightening, lower consumption power, high response time are effected as the most important design factor. So, experimental knowledge is more needed for optimal design of solenoid actuator. In this study, we derived the governing equations for optimal design of on/off solenoid actuator for valve actuating and developed a design program composed electromagnetic theories and experimental parameter values for inexperienced designers. And we proved the propriety of this program by experiments.

  • The method of pairwise comparison inherently contains information of ambiguity, fuzziness and conflict in design goals for a multiobjective structural design. This paper applies the principle of paired comparison so that the vaguely formulated problem can be modified and a set of numerically acceptable weight would reflect the relatively important degree of multiple objectives. This paper also presents a fuzzy global criterion method ($FGCM_{\lambda}$) included fuzzy constraints that coupled with the objective weighting rank obtained from the modified pairwise comparisons for fuzzy multiobjective optimization problems. Descriptions in sequence of this combined method and problem solving experiences are given in the current article. Multiobjective design examples of truss and mechanical spring structures illustrate this optimization process containing the revising judgement techniques.

  • This study analyzed air suspension seat frame structure and vibration for 50 - 180 kg mass driver to obtain optimum seat design parameter values for the equivalent spring constant and damping coefficient. Various air suspension seat frames were designed following WTS-003 and KS B 6839 standards, and then evaluated using finite elements analysis. Resonance and vibration tests were performed according to the 78/764/EEC standard.

  • The translation system is made up of springs, masses and a dashpot. This precise piece of equipment is controlled electro-mechanically by a motor and operating program. The control strategy of the system can be changed by spring stiffness, change of mass, and the damping coefficient of the dashpot. This system proves the necessity and effect of a closed loop control. In this paper, PD control experiments were implemented for the translation system. When the north falter was added on the PD controller, we compared the response characteristics of the two systems. The state feedback controller minimized scalar control gains and the resulting response characteristics of the system were studied using the LQR design. Finally, we improved the response characteristics of the translation system which are rising time, settling time, steady state error, and overshoot LQR was better as compared with PD control.

  • The purposes of this study were 1) to reveal the consumer's brand loyalty on clothing, 2) to identify the relationships between the consumer's clothing brand loyalty and consumer characteristics, product characteristics, and consumer's clothing buying behavior. Subjects were selected from the employed and unemployed housewives living in Taejon. A questionnaire was developed and administered by 316 housewives during Spring in 1992. Data were analysed by frequency, Pearson's correlation coefficient, regression and oneway- ANOVA. The result.; of the study were as follows: 1) The half of subjects had brand loyalty on clothing. 2) The relationships between consumer's clothing brand loyalty and housewives' and her husbands 'educational level and average income of a month were significant. Consumer's clothing brand loyalty and housewives 'age had significantly negative relationship. 3) Consumer's clothing brand loyalty was significantly related to price of clothing. 4) The relationships between consumer's clothing brand loyalty and satisfaction toward brands, and the store patronage behavior were significant. The relationships between consumer's clothing brand loyalty and her prepurchase information search behavior, and the amount of purchasing of clothing were not significant.
