Effect of Process Parameters on the Hardness and Wear Rate of Thermal Sprayed Ni-based Coatings (니켈기 경질 용사코팅의 경도 및 마모율에 미치는 공정조건의 영향)

  • The various process parameters of thermal spray process affects on quality of Ni-based coatings. Thus, there is need to analyze the effect of process parameters on quality of Ni-based coatings. In this paper, the effects of process parameters on hardness and wear rate of Ni-based coatings were investigated using 4 design of experiments. First, the Ni-based coatings were fabricated according to $L_9(3^4)$ orthogonal array. The hardness tests and the wear tests were performed on the Ni-based coatings. The analysis of variance for the hardness and wear rate were carried out. As a results, the acetylene gas flow and the powder feed rate were identified as main factors effected on the hardness and the oxygen gas flow and the acetylene gas flow were identified as main factors effected on the wear rate. The full factorial experiments design with different levels was applied for investigation of effect of these main factors.

  • This study is process of conservation treatment for textiles and custumes containing Jikgeum(weave with supplementary golden wefts) and Bugeum(Gold sticking) among excavated ones(including all of Sinsu751) of Cheongyeongunju (a princess) collected by the National Museum of Korea. Adhesive strength was reinforced by coating 2% solution of glue on layer of gold disintegrated in the course of depletion of gold(Au) on the surface after conducting nondestructive test(X-ray fluorescent analysis) of flat gold strip and gold sticking. To remove dust on the surface and polluted materials, dry cleaning through vacuum suction and spray-type wet cleaning were conducted simultaneously and damaged part was restored to recover the relics to original state.

  • Stainless steel is being used in various industries such as automobile and aerospace for its cheap manufacturing cost and excellent mechanical properties. However, stainless steel failed to stably protect a specimen with a $Cr_2O_3$ protective layer at temperatures above $1000^{\circ}C$. Thus, improving the high temperature flame resistance of the specimen through additional surface coating was needed. In this study, multilayer coatings of YSZ and $Al_2O_3$ were performed on SUS 304 specimens using pack cementation coatings and thermal plasma spray. The multilayer coated specimen showed enhanced thermal properties due to the coated layers. The microstructures and phase stability are discussed together with flame conditions at $1350^{\circ}C$.

  • In recent years, the need for more fuel-efficient and lower-emission vehicles has driven the technical development of alternative fuels such as LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) which is able to meet the limits of better emission levels without many modifications to current engine design. LPG has a high vapor pressure and lower viscosity and surface tension than diesel and gasoline fuels. These different fuel characteristics make it difficult to directly apply the conventional gasoline or diesel fuel pump. Self acting lubricated groove design or coating can be used in high-speed and high precision spindle system like a roller-vane type fuel pump, because of its advantages such as low frictional loss, low heat generation, averaging effect leading better running accuracy and simplicity in manufacturing. Those design method can also affect the atomization of fuel from the injector and the formation of fuel film on the intake manifold. In this study, experiments are carried out to get performance characteristics of initial and steady state operation, The characteristics of vane type fuel pump were investigated to access the applicability on LPLi engine.

Characterization of Conducting Polymer/CdTe Nanoparticles/Carbon Nanotube Composites in Thin Films (전도성 고분자/CdTe 나노입자/탄소 나노튜브 복합박막의 특성 연구)

  • The composites composed of conducting polymer (MEH-PPV), CdTe nanoparticles, and multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) were spectroscopically and electrically characterized in their thin films. The composite films were prepared by spray coating. These composites were prepared from the mixture solution of MEH-PPV and CdTe-embedded MWNTs, in which CdTe nanoparticles were electrostatically bound to MWNTs. UV/vis and PL spectra were analyzed to investigate the optical absorbance and emission of the composite films. In addition, their structural, electrochemical, and electrical properties were studied by transmission electron microscopy, cyclic voltammetry, and I-V measurement.

  • 연료전지 분리판은 연료, 공기, 수분이 흐를 수 있는 채널들이 포함되어 있으며, 전지들에 의해서 생산되는 전류를 흐르게 할 수 있는 전기전도성을 가져야 할 필요가 있다. 일반적인 금속판들은 연료전지 스택 내의 산성 분위기에 존재해야 하기 때문에 표면 부식이 쉽게 발생한다. 그라핀(graphene)은 우수한 전기전도성을 가지고 있을뿐만 아니라 물리화학적 내식성 및 내구성을 가지고 있어 연료전지 분리판으로서 응용이 가능할 것으로 판단된다. 본 연구에서는 일반적으로 널리 사용하고 있는 스테인리스강(stainless steel)을 모재로 사용하였으며, 그라핀을 전기분무법(electro spray coating)으로 코팅하여 스테인리스강의 내식성 및 전기전도성을 동시에 향상시키고자 하였다. 그라핀은 에탄올을 용매로 사용하여 분산하였으며, 분산제로 소량의 다이페닐다이에톡시실란(diphenyldiethoxysilane)을 첨가하여 코팅용액을 제작하였다. 코팅공정은 15kV 전압을 가하여 1시간동안 코팅을 진해하였으며, 그라핀-스테인리스강 모재의 미세구조를 전자현미경과 광학현미경을 통하여 관찰하였다. 또한 X-선 회절분석법을 이용하여 그라핀의 결정구조를 분석하였다. 한편 스택의 내부와 유사한 산화성 분위를 모사하기 위해 $80^{\circ}C$의 0.1N $H_2SO_4+2ppm\;F^-$ 용액에서 내식성 실험을 수행하였고, 면간접촉저항도 측정하였다. 그라핀이 코팅된 스테인리스강 시편은 고분자전해질 연료전지 분리판의 요구조건을 만족하였으며, 연료전지 분리판으로서의 적용가능성을 확인하였다.

  • The high enthalpy plasma research center in Chonbuk national university is under construction for four types of plasma equipments. The equipments are 1set of 0.4 MW class enhanced Huels type plasma equipment, 1 set of 2.4 MW class enhanced Huels type plasma quipment, 1 set of 60 kW RF plasma equipment and 1 set of 200 kW RF plasma equipment. 60kW RF plasma system is R&D and pilot scale production equipment of nano powder synthesis and plasma spray coating. 200kW RF plasma system is mass production equipment with high power capacity of nano powder synthesis. 0.4MW plasma system can be applied to the ground test facility for material testing under re-entry conditions for space vehicles.

  • 고분자 전해질 연료전지는 다른 연료전지에 비해 작동온도가 낮고 전류밀도 및 출력밀도가 높으며 시동시간이 짧아서 다양한 분야에 응용이 가능할 것으로 기대된다. 그 중 양극판은 가격비와 중량비가 높아 부품 가격 및 중량을 낮출 경우 파급 효과가 높은 것으로 예상된다. 본 연구에서는 일반적으로 사용하고 있는 스테인리스강보다 가격이 저렴한 저탄소강을 모재로 이용하였다. 저탄소강은 자체로 내식성을 가지지 못하므로, 최근에 차세대 신소재로 각광을 받고 있는 그라핀(graphene)을 전기분무(electro spray coating)법으로 코팅하여 저탄소강의 내식성을 향상시키고자 하였다. 그라핀은 에탄올을 용매로 사용하여 분산하였으며, 분산제로 소량의 다이페닐다이에톡시실란(diphenyldiethoxysilane)을 첨가하여 코팅용액을 제작하였다. 코팅공정은 5~15 kV의 전압을 가하여 1시간동안 코팅을 진행하였으며, 그라핀-저탄소강의 미세구조를 주사전자현미경과 광학현미경을 통하여 관찰하였다. 또한 X-선 회절분석법을 이용하여 그라핀의 결정구조를 분석하였다. 한편 스택의 내부와 유사한 산화성 분위기를 모사하기 위해 $80^{\circ}C$의 0.1N $H_2SO_4$+2ppm $F^-$ 용액에서 내식성 실험을 수행하였고 면간접촉저항을 측정하였다. 그라핀이 코팅된 저탄소강 시편은 고분자 전해질 연료전지 양극판의 요구조건을 만족하였으며, 연료전지 양극판으로서의 사용가능성을 확인하였다.

  • A Ni/Cr plating process has been developed for applying to inner wall of liquid rocket engine(LRE) thrust chamber. Ni plating conditions were selected through thermal shock test and endurance verification of the plating layers was performed through hot firing test of a subscale thrust chamber with Ni/Cr plating. Test results showed that a crack or separation of the plating layers was not found. Judging from the results, Ni/Cr plating could be applied to LRE thrust chamber as a substitute of air plasma sprayed ceramic coating which is presently being used.

Fine Particle Removal by a Vehicle Air Cleaner (차량용 에어클리너의 미세입자 제거특성)

  • There is a growing interest to develop an eco-friendly air cleaner with high performance through a remanufacturing process. Two kinds of polyurethane filter media, a coarse (Filter-A) and a fine filter media (Filer-B), are used in this study to protect a vehicle engine from airborne particles. In order to improve the collection performance of the filters (Filter-A, Filter-B), an oil coating technology on the filter surface was introduced. As a result, inertial force is a dominant collection mechanism for a dry filter media, so that collection efficiency increases with increasing filtration velocity. However, intra-structure change of an oil-coated filter media influences on the collection mechanism, which shows a non-linear collection efficiency curve in terms of filtration velocity. The result shows that the developed filter media are eco-friendly and effective to protect a vehicle engine from airborne particles especially at low filtration velocity.
