2 Dimensional Gel Electrophoresis(2DGE) is an essentialmethodology for analysis on the expression of various proteins. For example, information for the location, mass, expression, size and shape of the proteins obtained by 2DGE can be used for diagnosis, prognosis and biological progress by comparison of patients with the normal persons. Protein spot matching for this purpose is comparative analysis of protein expression pattern for the 2DGE images generated under different conditions. However, visual analysis of protein spots which are more than several hundreds included in a 2DGE image requires long time and heavy effort. Furthermore, geometrical distortion makes the spot matching for the same protein harder. In this paper, an iterative algorithm is introduced for more efficient spot matching. Proposed method is first performing global matching step, which reduces the geometrical difference between the landmarks and the spot to be matched. Thus, movement for a spot is defined by a weighted sum of the movement of the landmark spots. Weight for the summation is defined by the inverse of the distance from the spots to the landmarks. This movement is iteratively performed until the total sum of the difference between the corresponding landmarks is larger than a pre-selected value. Due to local distortion generally occurred in 2DGE images, there are many regions in whichmany spot pairs are miss-matched. In the second stage, the same spot matching algorithm is applied to such local regions with the additional landmarks for those regions. In other words, the same method is applied with the expanded landmark set to which additional landmarks are added. Our proposed algorithm for spot matching empirically proved reliable analysis of protein separation image by producing higher accuracy.

The resistance spot-welded region in most current finite element crash models is characterized as a rigid beam at the location of the welded spot. The region is modeled to fail with a failure criterion which is a function of the axial and shear load at the rigid beam. The role of this rigid beam is simply to transfer the load across the welded components. The calculation of the load acting on the rigid beam is important to evaluate the failure of the spot-weld. In this paper, numerical simulation is carried out to evaluate the calculation of the load at the rigid beam. The load calculated from the precise finite element model of the spot-welded region considering the residual stress due to the thermal history during the spot welding procedure is regarded as the reference value and the value of the load is compared with the one obtained from the spot-welded model using the rigid beam with respect to the element size, the element shape and the number of imposed constraints. Analysis results demonstrate that the load acting on the spot-welded element is correctly calculated by the change of the element shape around the welded region and the location of welded constrains. The results provide a guideline for an accurate finite element modeling of the spot-welded region in the crash analysis of vehicles.

The latest vehicle yields a superior safety and reduction of driving burden by monitoring the driving state of vehicle and its environment with various sensors. To detect other vehicles and objects of the rear left and right-side blind spot area of driver, provide the information about a existence of objects inside the blind spot, and give a signal to avoid collision, this study proposes the intelligent outside rear-view mirror system. This task has substantially complicated several factors. For example, the size, geometry and features of the various vehicles which might enter the monitored zone is varied widely and therefore present various reflective characteristics. This study proposes the optimal specification and configuration of optical system and IR array sensor of blind spot detection system, and shows the results of the performance evaluation of developed system.

Analysis for the thermal stress distribution in the laminated plates containing a hot-spot(local heating region) is performed. It is assumed that the local heating region induces only mechanical stress by the thermal expansion but effect of the thermal conduction is neglected. The region is regarded equivalent to a homogeneous inclusion expanding in a laminated medium. As an example, Au/YBCO/Al$_2$O$_3$laminate which is often employed for High Temperature Superconducting Fault Current Limiter(HTS FCL) has been analyzed. Effects of heat input, thickness of each layer and the got spot size upon the stress distribution in the hot-spot have been investigated. For a constant heat generation into the hot-spot, as the thickness of the Al$_2$O$_3$substrate increases, the stress in the YBCO layer is peculiarly oscillated, and the curvature of laminate has a maximum at a certain thickness of the Al$_2$O$_3$.
The resistance spot welding process has been used for joining the sheet metal in automotive engineering. In the resistance spot welding, the weld quality is very important, because the quality of weld is one of the most important factors to the automobile quality. The size of he molten nugget has been utilized to estimate the weld quality. However, it is not easy to find the weld defects. For weldability estimation, we have to use the nondestructive method such as X-ray or ultrasonic inspection. But these kinds of approaches are not suitable for detecting the defects in real time. The purpose of this study is to develop the real time monitoring of the weld quality in the resistance spot welding. Obtained data were used to estimate weldability using fuzzy algorithm. It is sound that this monitoring and estimation system can be useful to improve the weld quality in the resistance spot welding process and it is possible to estimate the weldability in real time.
Magnesium alloy is used on parts of aircraft and electronic equipment because of the highest specific strength among the common metal materials. Recently, studies about appling magnesium alloy sheet to automotive bodies are on the increase rapidly. For application to automotive bodies, researches about characteristics of resistance spot welding of magnesium alloy sheet are essential. Magnesium alloy has low boiling point, so getting sound bead shape is difficult when appling varies welding processes. Resistance spot welding is also particular about setting optimum welding conditions because of spatter generation, pores and cracks occurrence in nugget. And life of electrodes is very short because of alloying with copper that main material of electrodes. This requires frequent dressing and replacement of electrodes and decrease in productivity of resistance spot welding on magnesium alloy. Therefore in this study, for effective analysis of changes in tensile shear load and nugget size during electrode life test, evaluate detail characteristics of resistance spot welding on magnesium alloy sheet using dome type electrode.

Recently, resistance spot welding using Inverter DC is applied to improve the weldability of high strength steel for the auto-body fabrication. In this study, inverter DC spot welding machine, which is developed in the domestic, was evaluated weldability of the galvanized and cold rolled dual-phase steel(tensile strength : 590MPa). The welding conditions (welding time, current and force) were decided by tensile-shear test, and welding strength and nugget size were analyzed by statistical analysis methods which involved dynamic resistance and indentation. The results of the statistical analysis was utilized for real-time estimation of the invisible nugget size and tensile strength. Moreover, it can be achieved without the conventional destructive testing of welds.
First, the beam waist size of TE$M_{00}$ Nd:YAG laser mode with Positive Branch Unstable Resonator was calculated. and then, the output power, fundamental mode and multimode beam quality factor of PBUR were measured and compared with thouse of reference resonator with plane pallalel mirrors. In characterizing the beam quality, the $M^2$ concept was used. The focusability of laser beam in unstable resonators was discussed with this $M^2$.

Electrospun meshed poly-caprolactone PCL was patterned by femtosecond laser with linear grooves. As parametric variables, focus spot size, pulse energy, and scanning speed were varied to determine the affects on groove size and the characteristics of the electrospun fiber at the edges of these grooves. The femtosecond laser was seen to be an effective means for flexibly structuring the surface of ES PCL scaffolds and the width of the ablated grooves was well controlled by laser energy and focus spot size. The ablation threshold was measured to be $14.9J/cm^2$ which is a little higher than other polymers. These affects were attributed to optical multiple reflections inside nano-fibers. By the laser-induced plasma at higher pulse energies, some melting of fibers was observed.
Nano Pd spot-coated active carbon powders were synthesized by a hydrothermal-attachment method (HAA) using PVP capped Pd colloid in a high pressure bomb at $250^{\circ}C$, 450 psi, respectively. The PVP capped Pd colloid was synthesized by the precipitation-redispersion method. PVP capped Pd nano particles showed the narrow size distribution and their particle sizes were less than 8nm in diameter. In the case of nano Pd-spot coated active carbon powders, nano-sized Pd particles were adhered in the active carbon powder surface by HAA method. The component of Pd was homogeneously distributed on the active carbon surface.
