  • In this paper, the spin-up from rest to a state of solid-body rotation in a circular container with a slender rectangular obstacle on the bottom wall is analysed experimentally. We use a PIV method for the evolution of the free-surface flow. Laboratory experiments have been carried out for a variety of the obstacle height h(0, 5, 10 [mm]) and the liquid depth H(25, 50, 75, 100 [mm]). It was found that the spin-up time is crucially dependent on the obstacle height T. In the case of T=10[mm] the spin-up time is considerably shorter then the other cases.

  • Low temperature bonding of the silicon and glass using the Spin-on Glass (SOG) has been conducted experimentally to figure out the effects of the SOG solution composition and process variables on bond strength using the Design of Experiment method. In order to achieve the high quality bond interface without rack, sufficient reaction time of the optimal SOG solution composition is needed along with proper pressure and annealing temperature. The shear strength under the optimal SOG solution composition and process condition was higher than that of conventional anodic bonding and similar to that of wafer direct bonding.

  • Spin exchange interactions of $(C_2N_2H_{10})[Fe(HPO_3)F_3]$ were examined by performing a spin dimer analysis based on extended Huckel tight binding method and a mapping analysis based on first principles density functional theory. Spin exchange interactions occur through the super-superexchange paths $J_1$ and $J_2$ in $(C_2N_2H_{10})[Fe(HPO_3)F_3]$. In the super-superexchange path $J_2$ magnetic orbital interactions between eg-block levels are much stronger than those from $t_{2g}$-block levels. Both electronic structure calculations show that the spin exchange interaction through the super-superexchange path $J_2$ is much stronger than that of $J_1$.

  • The process of dual spin turn maneuver is introduced for attitude acquisition or recovery from flat spin state of a satellite. The physical principle of momentum transfer during dual spin turn is explained clearly. The case studies of special dual spin turn, in addition to the conventional dual spin turn, that are known as an acceptable cases, are performed to investigate the principle of dual spin turn and to provide a physical insight as well as the solution of dual spin turn. This study is done based on case-study simulation, which includes two-state control scheme composed of open-loop maneuver and energy dissipation device. Furthermore, we investigate the stability for the verification of all control cases after implementing two-stage control. We also provide the simulation scenario of flat spin recovery using dual spin turn method as an example.

  • Promote the application ofscientific research and technological developmentresultsto production and social life; The commercialization of scientific and technological products through the science and technology market is an effective method to exploit intellectual property at universities and research institutes. Spin-off is a popular business model in developed countriesto deploy and commercialize scientific and technologicalresearch results. However, in Vietnam, this concept is not popular as well as the number of spin-off businesses is not much and does not work effectively. This article focuses on clarifying the shortcomings and difficulties in establishing spin-off businesses in universities, thereby proposing solutions to develop spin-off businesses to exploit assets intellect at universities in Vietnam

  • MRI, particularly diffusion weighted imaging (DWI), plays vital roles in detection of the acute brain infarction$\^$1-4/ and others metabolic changes of biological tissues. In general, every molecule in biological tissues may diffuse and move randomly in three-dimensional space. However, in clinical diagnosis, only 2D-DWI is used. The authors have developed a new method for rapid three-dimensional DWI (3D-DWI). In this method, by refocusing of the magnetized spin with the applied gradient field, direction of which is opposite to phase encoding field. Magnetized spin of $^1$H is kept under the SSFP (steady state free precession)$\^$5-6/. Under SSFP, in addition of FID, spin echo and stimulated echo are also generated, so the acquired signal is increased. The signal intensity is increased depending on flip angle (FA) of magnetized spin. This phenomenon is confirmed by human brain and phantom studies. The performance of this method is quantitatively analyzed by using both of conventional spin echo DWI and 3D-DWI. From experimental results, three dimensional diffusion weighted images are obtained correctly for liquid phantoms (water, acetone and oil), diffusion coefficient is enhanced in each image. Therefore, this method will provide useful information for clinical diagnosis.

  • A new method to calculate the spin reorientation angle of cone anisotropy from magnetization curves of magnetically aligned powder is suggested. The spin reorientation angle of polycrystalline $Nd_2Fe_{14}B$ determined by this method coincided with the results obtained from torque magnetometry or magnetization measurements on single crystal. The underestimation of about 9% is expected if the basal plane anisotropy is neglected in determination of the spin reorientation angle of $Nd_2Fe_{14}B$ at 4.2 K.

  • Spin images representing efficiently surface features of 3D mesh models have been used to detect facial landmark points. However, at a certain point, different normal direction can lead to quite different spin images. Moreover, since 3D points are projected to the 2D (${\alpha}-{\beta}$) space during spin image generation, surface features cannot be described clearly. In this paper, we present a method to detect 3D facial landmark using improved spin images by partitioning the search area with respect to angle. By generating sub-spin images for angular partitioned 3D spaces, more unique features describing corresponding surfaces can be obtained, and improve the performance of landmark detection. In order to generate spin images robust to inaccurate surface normal direction, we utilize on averaging surface normal with its neighboring normal vectors. The experimental results show that the proposed method increases the accuracy in landmark detection by about 34% over a conventional method.

  • The magnetic properties of the organic/inorganic hybrid copper-methylenediphosphonate, Cu2(O3PCH2PO3) were examined by performing the spin dimer analysis based on the extended Hckel tight binding method. In Cu2(O3PCH2PO3) the CuO3 chains made up of edge-sharing CuO5 square pyramidal units are inter-linked by O-P-O bridges. The Cu-O-Cu superexchange interactions of the CuO3 chains are negligibly weak compared with the Cu-O…O-Cu super-superexchange interactions that occur between the CuO3 chains. The spin exchange interactions of Cu2(O3PCH2PO3) are dominated by three super-superexchange interactions, which leads to a three-dimensional antiferromagnetic spin lattice. The strongest spin exchange interactions form isolated spin dimers, which suggests that, to a first approximation, the magnetic properties can be described in terms of an isolated spin dimer model.

  • It is well known that the equiatomic FeAl alloy crystallizes in a paramagnetic CsCl structure and is very stable in a wide temperature range owing to a significant charge transfer from Al to Fe. A presence of structural defects normally enhances the magnetic and magneto-optical properties of this alloy. In this study spin-resolved photoemission and magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) were carried out on both ordered and disordered $Fe_{0.52}Al_{0.48}$ alloy films. The disordered state in the alloy films was obtained by a vapor quenching deposition on cooled substrates. It is shown that the order-disorder transition in the Fe0.52Al0.48 alloy films leads to a significant change in the spin polarization. Form the MCD results the orbital and spin magnetic moments of the constituent atoms are obtained. According to the sum rule the spin and orbital magnetic moments of Fe in the disordered FeAl film are $\mu\frac{SR}{spin}=0.8\mu_B$ and $\mu\frac{SR}{orb}=0.14\mu_B$ respectively. The spin magnetic moment is also evaluated to be $\mu\frac{BR}{spin}=0.77\mu_B$ by the branching ration method employing a photon polarization of 90%.
