  • We report on a systematic analysis of the spin and superorbital modulations of the high-mass X-ray binary 4U 0114+650, which consists of the slowest spinning neutron star known. Utilizing dynamic power spectra, we found that the spin period varied dramatically during the RXTE ASM and Swift BAT observations. This variation consists of a long-term spin-up trend, and two ~1,000 day and one ~600 day random walk epochs previously, MJD 51,000, ~MJD 51,400-52,000, and ~MJD 55,100-56,100. We further found that the events appear together with depressions of superorbital modulation amplitude. This provides evidence of the existence of an accretion disk, although the physical mechanism of superorbital modulation remains unclear. Furthermore, the decrease of the superorbital modulation amplitude may be associated with the decrease of mass accretion rate from the disk, and may distribute the accretion torque of the neutron star randomly in time.

  • Experimental evidence suggests that spin pinning conditions for standing spin mode in polycrystalline $Ni_{84}Fe_{16}$ alloy film, is confirmed using the four categories of Camley et al. and the value of q$\bot$ for the pinning conditions, this was achieved by performing Brillouin light scattering measurements. The value of q$\bot$ was observed, in order to increase at a rate of $\pi$/2 with an increasing mode number. With this condition, the coexistence of standing spin wave modes was shown, with intermediate pinning, in addition to free and strong pinning. The values for spin-wave-stiffness constant ($D_B$), g-factor (g), and surface magnetization (4$\pi$M) of the Permalloy film were obtained from the results of BLS, and determined to be $D_B=1.85{\pm}0.05Oecm^2$, $g=2.11{\pm}0.02$, and 4$\pi$M=8.7 kG, respectively.

  • In this numerical work, three dimensional supersonic laminar flow and heat transfer of a blunt body(sphere-cone) at Mach 5 is simulated. The effects of angle of attack and the spin rate on the now and heat transfer are analysed. To solve the three dimensional compressible Wavier-Stokes equation, a finite volume method with the modified LDFSS scheme is employed for spatial discretization, and a point SGS implicit method is used for time integration. It is found that the heat transfer rate increases at the windward side and decreases at the leeward side with the angle of attack. The heat transfer rate at all surfaces slightly increases with the spin rate.

  • Recovery of valuable metals in the industrial wastewater and sludge has attracted an attention owing to limited metallic resources in the earth. In this study, we firstly fabricated Ti/Ir-Ru electrodes by spin coating technique for effective recovery of Cu in electrowinning process. Two different Ti/Ir-Ru electrodes were fabricated using 100 and 500 mM of precursors (i.e., Ir-Ru). SEM-EDX and AFM revealed that Ir and Ru were homogenously distributed on the surface of Ti plate by the spin coating, in particular the electrode prepared by 500 mM showed distinct boundary line between Ir-Ru layer and Ti substrate. XRD, XPS, and cyclic voltammetry also revealed that characteristics of IrO2, RuO2, and TiO2 and its electrocatalytic property increased as the concentration of coating precursor increased. Finally, we carried out Cu recovery experiments using two Ti/Ir-Ru as anodes in electrowinning process, showing that both anodes showed a complete removal of Cu (1 and 10 g/L) within 6 h reaction, but much higher kinetic rate constant was obtained by the anode prepared by 500 mM. The findings in this study can provide a fundamental knowledge for surface characteristics of Ti/Ir-Ru electrode prepared by spin coating method and its potential feasibility for effective electrowinning process.

  • An unequal site exchanging system induced by restricted rotation of 9-methyl group in 1,8-dichloro-9-triptycene has been studied by spin-lattice relaxation and 2D-EXSY experiments. The exchange rate obtained from relaxation studies is very well coincident to the result of line shape analysis, and the difference of the relaxation times ($T_1$) in two different sites has an important role to analyze 2D-EXSY experimental data.

  • The Chinese ancient accounts of timing observations of 48 lunar eclipses and the secular variation of the Earth's spin speed are discussed. A series of ${\Delta}$T expressing the secular deceleration of the Earth's rotation was obtained. The average increase rate of length of the day is about 1.5 milliseconds per century.

  • It is difficult to predict material behavior of forming process because the plastic instable flow phenomenon happens in practical forming process I. e. upsetting backward extrusion piercing indentation. In view of the direct relationship between instable material flow and quality defects of the products we should find out their phenomena, In this study we introduced the plastic spin and the kinematic hardening considering the kinematic hardening constitutive equation for rate-dependent material. Also analysis of upset forging is carried out using the rigid plastic FEM with Al7075

  • The present paper is a review of the current studies of quantum beats in recombination of spin-correlated radical pairs in solutions as well as of future applications of quantum beats technique for studying these pairs. Examples are given of the use of this method for determining the hfi constants and relaxation times of short-lived radical ions, for finding the rate constants of the reactions of alkane radical cations and for estimating a fraction of singlet-correlated pairs in the pairs in the tracks of ionizing particles. The potentialities of this method, its advantages and limitations are discussed.

  • Tungsten oxide($WO_3$) films with uniform surface morphology are fabricated using a spin-coating method for applications of electrochromic(EC) devices. To improve the EC performances of the $WO_3$ films, we control the heating rate of the annealing process to 10, 5, and $1^{\circ}C/min$. Compared to the other samples, the $WO_3$ films fabricated at a heating rate of $5^{\circ}C/min$ shows superior EC performances for transmittance modulation(49.5 %), response speeds(8.3 s in a colored state and 11.2 s in a bleached state), and coloration efficiency($37.3cm^2/C$). This performance improvement is mainly related to formation of a uniform surface morphology with increased particle size without any cracks by an optimized annealing heating rate, which improves the electrical conductivity and electrochemical activity of the $WO_3$ films. Thus, the $WO_3$ films with a uniform surface morphology prepared by the optimized annealing heating rate can be used as a potential candidate for performance improvement of the EC devices.

  • By introducing spin-coating method to the evaporation induced self-assembly (EISA) process, a simple and reproducible route in controlling the mesophase of silica thin films has been developed for the first time in this work. When a comparatively solvent-rich Si-sol (The atomic ratio of TEOS : F127 : HCl : $H_2O$ : EtOH = 1 : 0.006 : 0.2 : 9.2 : 30) was used as coating solution, the mesophase of resultant silica films was selectively controlled by adjusting the spin-on speed. The cubic mesophase has been obtained from the coating at a low rpm, such as 600 rpm, while the 2-D hexagonal mesophase is formed at a high rpm, such as 2,500 rpm. At a medium coating speed, a mixture of cubic and hexagonal mesophase has been found in the fabricated films. The present results confirm that the evaporation rate of volatile components at initial step is critical for the determination of mesopore structures during the EISA process.
