  • This paper introduces general applications of vehicle's dynamic pressure information which is estimated during the flight. And a method to estimate the dynamic pressure for a high speed vehicle is suggested to sustain reliability of the flight under a high estimation accuracy of the information. The presented method is straightforward with simple relations of the compressible flow but is a still merited idea employed for the high speed vehicle control scheme with great accuracy.

  • This paper proposes a method for measurement three-dimensional trajectories of bubbles generated around a swimmer's arms from stereo high-speed camera videos. This method is based on two techniques: two-dimensional trajectory estimation in single-camera images and trajectory pair matching in stereo-camera images. The two-dimensional trajectory is estimated by block matching using similarity of bubble shape and probability of bubble displacement. The trajectory matching is achieved by a consistensy test using epipolar constraint in multiple frames. The experimental results in two-dimensional trajectory estimation showed the estimation accuracy of 47% solely by the general optical flow estimation, whereas 71% taking the bubble displacement into consideration. This concludes bubble displacement is an efficient aspect in this estimation. In three-dimensional trajectory estimation, bubbles were visually captured moving along the flow generated by an arm; which means an efficient material for swimmers to swim faster.

  • This paper proposes a restarting method for extended electromotive force (EEMF)-based sensorless permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive systems. The sensorless PMSM drive systems generally estimate the rotor speed and angle based on EEMF. However, if the inverter is stopped while the PMSM is rotating, the initial rotor speed and angle are required for restart. Therefore, the proposed restarting method estimates the initial rotor speed and angle using the short-circuit current generated by applying zero voltage vector from the inverter. The validity of the proposed method is verified by simulation and experimental results.

  • This paper deals with the attitude control of an underactuated spacecraft that has fewer than three actuators. Even though such spacecrafts are known as uncontrollable, restricted missions are possible with controlling two-axis attitude angles. A variable speed control moment gyroscope is considered as an actuator. It is a kind of momentum exchange device and it shows highly nonlinear dynamical properties. Speed commands are generated by kinematic equations represented by Euler angles. A control law, that is designed to make a spacecraft follow the speed commands, is derived by the backstepping method. Angular speeds are estimated from the attitude measurements. Several estimation methods have been compared.

  • This paper includes real-time tractive force estimation method using standard vehicle sensors such as wheel speed, brake pressure, throttle position, engine speed, and transmission carrier speed sensor. Engine map, torque converter lookup table, shaft torque observer, and brake gain adaptation method are used to estimate the tractive force. To verify this estimator, measurement which uses strain-based brake torque sensor and estimation results are presented. All results was performed using a real vehicle in a real-time.

  • This paper proposes a new speed and position estimation method for PMSM(Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) using low-resolution hall-effect sensors. In general, there are a variety of sensors to estimate rotor position for PMSM such as resolvers, and encoders. Position detection using hall-effect sensors that detect the flux of the rotor for rotor position is excellent method in terms of cost and space, but has low-resolution. To overcome this problem, this paper proposes a new speed and position estimation observer. The performance of the observer has been verified by simulations carried out using Matlab/Simulink.

A Study on Individual Tap-Power Estimation for Improvement of Adaptive Equalizer Performance

  • In this paper we analyze convergence constraints and time constant of IT-LMS algorithm and derive a method of making it's time constant independent of signal power by using input variance estimation. The method for estimating the input variance is to use a single-pole low-pass filter(LPF) with common smoothing parameter value, θ. The estimator is with narrow bandwidth for large θ but with wide bandwidth for small θ. This small θ gives long term average estimation(low frequency) of the fluctuating input variance well as short term variations (high frequency) of the input power. In our simulations of multipath communication channel equalization environments, the method with large θ has shown not as much improved convergence speed as the speed of the original IT-LMS algorithm. The proposed method with small θ=0.01 reach its minimum MSE in 100 samples whereas the IT-LMS converges in 200 samples. This shows the proposed, tap-power normalized IT-LMS algorithm can be applied more effectively to digital wireless communication systems.

  • This paper is proposed for a artificial neural network(ANN) sensorless control based on the vector controlled induction motor drive, or proposes a adaptive fuzzy teaming control(AFLC). The fuzzy logic principle is first utilized for the control rotor speed. AFLC scheme is then proposed in which the adaptation mechanism is executed using fuzzy logic. Also, this paper is proposed for a method of the estimation of speed of induction motor using ANN Controller. The back propagation neural network technique is used to provide a real time adaptive estimation of the motor speed. The error between the desired state variable and the actual one is back-propagated to adjust the rotor speed, so that the actual state variable coincide with the desired one. The back propagation mechanism is easy to derive and the estimated speed tracks precisely the actual motor speed. This paper is proposed the analysis results to verify the effectiveness of the new method.

  • As the model of most practical system cannot be obtained, the practice of typical control method is limited. Accordingly, numerous artificial intelligence control methods have been used widely. Fuzzy control and neural network control have been an important point in the developing process of the field. This paper is proposed adaptive fuzzy-neural network based on the vector controlled interior permanent magnet synchronous motor drive system. The fuzzy-neural network is first utilized for the speed control. A model reference adaptive scheme is then proposed in which the adaptation mechanism is executed using fuzzy-neural network. Also, this paper is proposed estimation of speed of interior permanent magnet synchronous motor using artificial neural network controller. The back-propagation neural network technique is used to provide a real time adaptive estimation of the motor speed.   • This study describes the scheme of vector drive system without speed sensor for AC servo motor using theory of a flux observer and based on the field oriented vector control. The new method of speed estimation is presented from operate with the position and magnitude of the secondary flux which obtain from the voltage reference and detected current. As the estimated speed is settled by the flux and the machine-specific parameters. this method don't need to adjust the gain of the parameter. Based on the derived theory for vector control. the scheme for sensorless vector drive of AC servo motor is designed and realized. And the experiment verifies it passable to realize the sensorless vector drive based on a field-oriented type.
