  • Reliability of the Railway signaling system which is safety critical is determined by reliability of hardware and software. Reliability of hardware is easily predicted and demonstrated through lots of different studies and environmental tests, while that of software is estimated by the iterative test outcomes so estimates of reliability will depend on the inputs. Combinations of inputs to and outputs from the software may be mostly combinatoric and therefore all the combinations could not be tested. As a result, it has been more important to calculate reliability by means of a simpler method. This paper identifies the reliability prediction equation applicable to reliability prediction for railway signaling system software, and performs the simulation of onboard equipment of automatic train control for high speed train to review reliability prediction and validity.

  • Wide range of methodology of reliability prediction for system exists. For railway field, MIL-HDBK-217F, which has not been revised since early in 1990, is used for reliability prediction if historical data is not available. Since this standard has been published, quality and performance of electronic products have been improved rapidly and various kinds of items have been released, however new versions of items could not be released because the prediction standard could not follow up the speed of the production. Thus, this thesis introduces Telcordia SR-332 Issue 2 and would like to compare and analyze the result from MIL-HDBK-217F together with some cases we performed.

Performance Evaluation of Side Channel Type Regenerative Blower (사이드채널형 재생블로워의 성능평가)

  • The performances of side channel type regenerative blowers were evaluated by the blower performance test, 1-D performance prediction and CFD. The performance prediction method was modified using the results of the performance test and CFD and applied to the design of the new regenerative blowers. The major geometric parameters such as channel height, channel area and expansion angle were decided from the performance prediction method for the improved models and the predicted results were compared with CFD and experimental data. Both of the modified models showed improved efficiency at the operating condition. Especially, model3 could be possible to reduce operating rotating speed, that is benefit to noise performance, because of the high head performance at the design point. The CFD results showed that the performance of the regenerative blower was influenced by the secondary circulatory flow in the channel.

  • On the prediction of driving performance, an acceleration performance is normally simulated in stall starting condition which is the engine status of full-throttle and high-speed. The lack of transient engine torque data makes the difficulty of predicting an acceleration performance on engine-idle start condition. A experimental equation of transient engine torque is derived from vehicle performance test data. It is applied to simulation the accleration performance prediction on idle starting condition.

  • In-process surface roughness prediction is studied in this research. To implement in-process prediction, spindle displacement is introduced. Machined surface's roughness is assumed to be expressed in terms of spindle displacement. In-process measurement of spindle displacement is conducted using CCDS (cylindrical capacitive displacement sensor). Two prediction models are developed. One is simple linear model between measured surface roughness and values by spindle displacement. The other is multiple regression model including machining parameters like spindle speed, fee rate and radial depth of cut. Relation between machined surface roughness and roughness by spindle displacement are verified.

  • In this study, the performance prediction programs for centrifugal pumps are developed. To estimate the losses in the centrifugal pump impellers, a two-zone model and TEIS(two elements in series) model are applied to the program. The basic concept of a two zone model considers the primary zone that is an isentropic core flow and the secondary zone that has a non-isentropic region at the impeller exit. The flow goes through two different zones and is mixed out at the impeller exit and the mixing process occurs with an increase in entropy, a decrease in total pressure. The level of the core flow diffusion in an impeller was calculated using TEIS(two elements in series) model. The effects of various parameters which are used in this program on the prediction of head and efficiency are discussed. The correlation curves used to select the effectiveness of the primitive TEIS model were suggested according to the specific speed of the centrifugal pumps.

  • Purpose: Accelerated degradation tests can speed time to market and reduce the test time and costs associated with long term reliability tests to verify the required service life of a product or material. This paper proposes a service life prediction method for components or materials using an accelerated degradation tests based on the relationships between temperature and the rate of failure-causing chemical reaction. Methods: The relationship between performance degradation and the rate of a failure-causing chemical reaction is assumed and least square estimation is used to estimate model parameters from the degradation model. Results: Methods of obtaining acceleration factors and predicting service life using the degradation model are presented and a numerical example is provided. Conclusion: Service life prediction of a component or material is possible at an early stage of the degradation test by using the proposed method.

  • This study was Performed to grasp of the problem and improvement in traffic noise environmental impact assessment(EIA). National institute of environmental research(NIER) traffic noise prediction model is in general use in internal EIA. In this study, NIER noise prediction model need to improve in that the predicted results lower than the measured results. The other predict model(KLC KEI) is more accurate. Also the volume and speed of traffic is need to standardize in traffic noise prediction.

Feasibility Prediction-Based Obstacle Removal Planning and Contactable Disinfection Robot System for Surface Disinfection in an Untidy Environment (비정돈 환경의 표면 소독을 위한 실현성 예측 기반의 장애물 제거 계획법 및 접촉식 방역 로봇 시스템)

  • We propose a task and motion planning algorithm for clearing obstacles and wiping surfaces, which is essential for surface disinfection during the pathogen disinfection process. The proposed task and motion planning algorithm determines task parameters such as grasping pose and placement location during the planning process without using pre-specified or discretized values. Furthermore, to quickly inspect many unit motions, we propose a motion feasibility prediction algorithm consisting of collision checking and an SVM model for inverse mechanics and self-collision prediction. Planning time analysis shows that the feasibility prediction algorithm can significantly increase the planning speed and success rates in situations with multiple obstacles. Finally, we implemented a hierarchical control scheme to enable wiping motion while following a planner-generated joint trajectory. We verified our planning and control framework by conducted an obstacle-clearing and surface wiping experiment in a simulated disinfection environment.

  • R-Bar (Overhead Rigid Conductor system) has been lately used for the speed of over 200km/h in Europe, while it has been developed and used for the max. speed of 120km/h in Korea. Because R-Bar has advantages of reduction of tunnel cross sectional area and maintenance, its development for more high-speed is urgent in Korea having many mountain area. Therefore a sensitivity analysis of design parameters for the speed-up of R-Bar has performed in this study. For the analysis, we have developed a program for the prediction of dynamic characteristics between a pantograph and R-Bar. The program was evaluated with the actual test result and a current collection performance according to the parameters such as a distance between brackets, a stiffness of bracket and of R-Bar rail was predicted with the program.
