The charge exchange (or transfer) due to collision with hydrogen has important effects on the physical characteristics of astrophysical plasma. In this paper, collisional ionization equilibrium in the temperature range of ${\sim}1,000--80,000K$ are investigated for C, N, and O ions including the effects of charge exchange. The calculated ionic abundance fractions are compared with those of previous works. The ionic abundance fractions calculated in the paper can be used in understanding the spectroscopic properties of warm interstellar medium. It is also found that the ratio between the degree of ionization of oxygen and that of hydrogen shows big difference with the previously well-known result for the environment where the collisional ionization is not important. This implies that investigations on the collisional ionization in the warm interstellar medium are required.
Compactin and pravastatin are competitive cholesterol biosynthesis inhibitors of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase and belong to the statin drugs; however, the latter shows superior pharmacokinetic characteristics. Previously, we reported that the bacterial P450, CYP105D7, from Streptomyces avermitilis can catalyze the hydroxylation of 1-deoxypentalenic acid, diclofenac, and naringenin. Here, we demonstrate that CYP105D7 could also catalyze compactin hydroxylation in vitro. In the presence of both bacterial and cyanobacterial redox partner systems with an NADPH regeneration system, the reaction produced two hydroxylated products, including pravastatin (hydroxylated at the C6 position). The steady-state kinetic parameters were measured using the redox partners of putidaredoxin and its reductase. The $k_m$ and $k_{cat}$ values for compactin were $39.1{\pm}8.8{\mu}M$ and $1.12{\pm}0.09min^{-1}$, respectively. The $k_{cat}/K_m$ value for compactin ($0.029min^{-1}{\cdot}{\mu}M^{-1}$) was lower than that for diclofenac ($0.114min^{-1}{\cdot}{\mu}M^{-1}$). Spectroscopic analysis showed that CYP105D7 binds to compactin with a $K_d$ value of $17.5{\pm}3.6{\mu}M$. Molecular docking analysis was performed to build a possible binding model of compactin. Comparisons of different substrates with CYP105D7 were conclusively illustrated for the first time.

FTIR technique was applied to delineate spectroscopic characteristics of natural, synthetic and irradiated diamonds. All of the samples studied in this work show the absorption peaks, which are generally observed in diamond as well as the specific one related to N in diamonds. Synthetic diamond is characterized with both the peaks of 1344 and $1128 cm^{-1}$ related to HPHT synthesis and specific $1050 cm^{-1}$ peak only observed in synthetic diamond, which can be used to discriminate natural from synthetic. Type (natural blue diamond: IIb, electron beam Irradiated blue diamond: Type Ia) can be used to discriminate natural from irradiated diamond. The intensity of specific $1450 cm^{-1}$ peak observed only in irradiated diamond is related with irradiation and annealing process.
Purpose: Standards of alloy for porcelain fused to metal crown be classified by metallic factor and biological factor. Metallic factors consist of stability of alloy composition and mechanical strength and surface characteristics for chemical bond. Biological factors be considered properties of metallic elements and problems originated by toxicity and hypersensitive reaction. Alloys considered such controversial points are the most suitable alloy for dental instrument. Method: Alloys added Be and Nb using Ni-Cr alloy which has been widely used for dental instrument be selected and classified experimental group. Non-addition Be and Nb to Ni-Cr alloy classify control group and addition Be alloy is Be-experimental group, addition Nb alloy is Nb-experimental group. Specimens for cytotoxicity analysis gave effect to washing and sterilization. and then made an experiment on elution with cell medium after disinfection. It conducted specimens within cell medium with 24hours, 48hours, 72hours, respectively. It cultured human dermal fibroblast(HDF) using cell medium for cytotoxicity test and then investigated elution rate through spectroscopic analysis by MTT-assay. Result: As results of cytotoxicity test by MTT-assay, cultured cell rate of VII measured more low numerical value within elution medium for 24hours focused on control group. Also, cultured cell rate of K3 alloys observed low value for 48hours, 72hours than value of control group. Conclusion: According to final result that synthesize above results, Ni-Cr alloy added Be and Ni has little difference in Cytotoxicity by MTT-assay.
Biosolubilization of an Australian lignite was investigated by using Streptomyces viridosporus and Poria cocos. In order to solubilize coals effectively they were pretreated by nitric acid both in surface and liquid cultures. The optimum growth pH was 7.5 for S. viridosporus and 4.5 for P. cocos. The effects of various carbon, nitrogen and metal sources on overall solubilization were also studied. Solubility increased with the addition of urea for S. viridosporus, and peptone and tryptone for P. cocos. However carbon and metal sources had little or negative effects on solubilization. Maximum amount of coal solubilized was 85%(w/w) in a batch fermentation culture. Extracellular materials produced by micro-organism were found to be responsible for the coal solubilization. Approximately 70 to 80% of coal solubilization was determined to be the result of non-enzymatic reactions, and the rest to be the result of enzymatic reactions. Characteristics of the solubilized coal were compared with those of original coal and pretreated coal by the approximate and ultimate composition analysis, and IR-spectrum analysis. The spectroscopic results showed that the mechanism of coal solubilization was caused by continuous oxidation.
We present the ultraviolet (UV) color-color relation of early-type galaxies (ETGs) in the nearby universe (0.05 < z < 0.12) to investigate the properties of hot stellar populations responsible for the UV excess (UVX). The initial sample of ETGs is selected by the spectroscopic redshift and the morphology parameter from the SDSS DR 7, and then cross-matched with the GALEX far-UV (FUV) and near-UV (NUV) GR6 data. The cross-matched ETG sample is further classified by their emission line characteristics in the optical spectra into quiescent, star-forming, and active galactic nucleus categories. Contaminations from early-type spiral galaxies, mergers, and morphologically disturbed galaxies are removed by visual inspection. By drawing the FUV-NUV (as a measure of UV spectral shape) versus FUV-r (as a measure of UVX strength) diagram for the final sample of -3700 quiescent ETGs, we find that the "old and dead" ETGs consist of a well-defined sequence in UV colors, the "UV red sequence," so that the stronger UVX galaxies should have a harder UV spectral shape systematically. However, the observed UV spectral slope is too steep to be reproduced by the canonical stellar population models in which the UV flux is mainly controlled by age or metallicity parameters. Moreover, 2 mag of color spreads both in FUV-NUV and FUV-r appear to be ubiquitous among any subsets in distance or luminosity. This implies that the UVX in ETGs could be driven by yet another parameter which might be even more influential than age or metallicity.
Molecular Nuclear Neuro-Imaging in "CNS" drug discovery and development tan be divided into four categories that are clearly inter-related.(1) Neuroreceptor mapping to examine the involvement of specific neurotransmitter system in CNS diseases, drug occupancy characteristics and perhaps examine mechanisms of action;(2) Structural and spectroscopic imaging to examine morphological changes and their consequences;(3) Metabolic mapping to provide evidence of central activity and "CNS fingerprinting" the neuroanatomy of drug effects;(4) Functional mapping to examing disease-drug interactions. In addition, targeted delivery of therapeutic agents could be achieved by modifying stem cells to release specific drugs at the site of transplantation('stem cell pharmacology'). Future exploitation of stem cell biology, including enhanced release of therapeutic factors through genetic stem cell engineering, might thus constitute promising pharmaceutical approaches to treating diseases of the nervous system. With continued improvements in instrumentation, identification of better imaging probes by innovative chemistry, molecular nuclear neuro-imaging promise to play increasingly important roles in disease diagnosis and therapy.

Cotton is the major fiber crop in Pakistan that accounts for 2% of total national gross domestic product (GDP). After picking of cotton, the dry stalks are major organic waste that has no fate except burning to cook food in villages. Present research focuses use of cotton stalks as feedstock for biochar production, its characterization and effects on soil characteristics. Dry cotton stalks collected from agricultural field of Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, Pakistan were combusted under anaerobic conditions at $450^{\circ}C$. The physicochemical analysis of biochar and cotton stalks show higher values of % total carbon, phosphorus and potassium concentrations in biochar as compared to cotton stalks. The concentration of nitrogen was decreased in biochar. Similarly biochar had greater values of fixed carbon that suggest its role for carbon sequestration and as a soil amendment. The fourier transformation infrared spectroscopic spectra (FTIR) of cotton stalks and biochar exposed more acidic groups in biochar as compared to cotton stalks. The newly developed functional groups in biochar have vital role in increasing surface properties, cation exchange capacity, and water holding capacity, and are responsible for heavy metal remediation in contaminated soil. In a further test, results show increase in the water holding capacity and nutrient retention by a sandy soil amended with biochar. It is concluded that cotton stalks can be effectively used to prepare biochar.
The dissociation constants of 4-Cl-1-naphthol, 6-Br-2-naphthol and $8-NH_2-2-naphthol$ in aqueous solution were measured by spectroscopic method in the temperature range from 25 to 40${\circ}C$ and pressure up to 2000bar. The dissociation constants were decreased as the substituents were inserted in naphthol f rom $4.4{\times}10^{-10}\;to\;5.82{\times}10^{-11}$ as chloride compound and $2.5{\times}10^{-10}\;to\;3.44{\times}10^{-11}\;or\;4.21{\times}10^{-11}$ as bromine or amino compounds, respectively. This decrease can be explained with the I-or R-effects of substituents. From the dissociation constants various thermodynamic properties were calculated and discussed the characteristics of the dissociation reaction.
The fresh ginseng roots were extracted with aqueous methanol, and the obtained extracts were partitioned using ethyl acetate, n-butanol, and water, successively. The repeated silica gel and octadecyl silica gel column chromatogaraphy for n-butanol fraction afforded four diol ginseng saponins, ginsenosides $Rb_1$, $Rb_2$, $R_c$, and Rd. The physicochemical, spectroscopic, and chromatographic characteristics of these ginsenosides were measured and compared with those reported in the literature. Some of the peak assignments in previously published $^1H$- and $^{13}C$-nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra were inaccurate. This study employed two-dimensional NMR experiments, including $^1H-^1H$ correlation spectroscopy, heteronuclear single quantum correlation, and heteronuclear multiple bond connectivity, to determine exact peak assignments.
