We analyzed spectral data of the astrophysical diffuse emission obtained with the low-resolution spectroscopy mode on the AKARI InfraRed Camera (IRC) in the $1.8-5.3{\mu}m$ wavelength region. Advanced reduction methods specialized for slit spectroscopy of diffuse sky spectra have been developed, and a catalog of 278 spectra of the diffuse sky covering a wide range of Galactic and ecliptic latitudes was constructed. Using this catalog, two other major foreground components, the zodiacal light (ZL) and the diffuse Galactic light (DGL), were separated and subtracted by taking correlations with ZL brightness estimated by the DIRBE ZL model and with the $100{\mu}m$ dust thermal emission, respectively. The isotropic emission was interpreted as the extragalactic background light (EBL), which shows significant excess over the integrated light of galaxies at <$4{\mu}m$.
The behavior of tyrosine(Tyr.) residue of Bombyx mori silk fiber from yellow fluorescent cocoon has been examined for the dependence of pH in aqueous silk solution under the presence of orange II salt. Through the peak separation of angular dependence of spectral pattern of 15N-Tyr. and [1-13C]-Tyr. between the fiber axis and the molecular bond direction, N-H bond in fiber as well as the orientation distribution around the fiber axis were analyzed. Also, and sericin component was obtained from these angular dependence of oriented spectral pattern. The pH dependence of the 13C NMR chemical shift of B. mori silk fibroin was examined in aqueous solution in the presince of orange II are broad at pH$\geq$7.0. However, these become sharper at pH$\geq$8.0 and remain sharp at higher pH. In these higher pH range, a chemical shift change occurs due to the deprotonation of the Tyr. side group of fibroin. At higher pH. such a hydrophobic cluster is destroyed because of the electrostatic interaction according to the deprotonation of the Tyr-OH group.
MSC(Multi-Spectral Camera) is a main payload of KOMPSAT(Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite)-II which will be launched in 2004. MSC will perform his mission with the GSD(Ground Sample Distance) of 1m, swath width of 15km and spectral range of 450nm~900nm at the altitude of 685km. MSC consists of three main subsystems. One is EOS(Electro-Optics Subsystem), another is PMU(Payload Management Unit) and the other is PDTS(Payload Data Transmission Subsystem). There is an SBC(Single Board Computer) in the PW to control all the other units and SBC software performs the interface with spacecraft and control all MSC sub-units. SBC software consists of a lot of tasks and manages them with the time criticalness. All tasks are designed to be scheduled and executed at the predetermined time in order to make sure that the mission of MSC system is achieved successfully. In this paper, the real-time task scheduling of the SBC software will be described and analyzed.

In this paper, a novel genre classification algorithm is proposed for music recommendation system. Especially, to improve the classification accuracy, the band-pass filter for octave-based spectral contrast (OSC) feature is designed considering the psycho-acoustic model and actual frequency range of musical instruments. The GTZAN database including 10 genres was used for 10-fold cross validation experiments. The proposed multiple-octave based OSC produces better accuracy by 2.26% compared with the conventional OSC. The combined feature vector based on the proposed OSC and mel-frequency cepstral coefficient (MFCC) gives even better accuracy.
This paper evaluates the scaling of ground motions recorded from nine intermediate-depth earthquakes produced in the Vrancea seismic zone in Romania. The considered ground motion database consists of 363 horizontal recordings obtained on soil classes B and C (according to Eurocode 8). An analysis of the inter- and intra-event spectral accelerations is performed in order to gain information regarding the magnitude and distance scaling of the Vrancea ground motions. The analyses reveal a significant influence of the earthquake magnitude and focal depth on the distance scaling and different magnitude and distance scaling for the two soil classes. A linear magnitude and distance scaling is inferred from the results for the range of magnitudes $5.2{\leq}M_W{\leq}7.1$. The results obtained are checked through stochastic simulations and the influence of the stress drop and kappa values on the ground motion levels is assessed. In addition, five ground motion models which were tested in other studies using recordings from Vrancea earthquakes are analyzed in order to evaluate their corresponding host stress drop and kappa. The results show generally a direct connection between the host kappa values and the host stress drop values. Moreover, all the ground motion models depict magnitude dependent host kappa and stress drop levels.
Radiometric calibration of optical image data is necessary to convert raw digital number (DN) value of each pixel into a physically meaningful measurement (radiance). To extract rather quantitative information regarding biophysical characteristics of the earth surface materials, radiometric calibration is often essential procedure. A sensor detects the radiation of sunlight interacted atmospheric constituents. Therefore, the amount of the energy reaching at the sensor is quite different from the initial amount reflected from the surface. To achieve the target reflectance after atmospheric correct, an initial step is to convert DN value to at-sensor radiance. A linear model, the simplest radiometric model, is applied to averaged spectral radiance for this conversion. This study purposes to analyze the sensitivity of several factors affecting on radiance for carrying out absolute radiometric calibration of panchromatic images from KOMPSAT2 launched at July, 2006. MODTRAN is used to calculate radiance at sensor and reflectance of target is measured by a portable spectro-radiometer at the same time the satellite is passing the target for the radiometric calibration. As using different contents of materials composing of atmosphere, the differences of radiance are investigated. Because the spectral sensitivity of panchromatic images of KOMPSAT2 ranges from 500 to 900 nm, the materials causing scattering in visible range are mainly considered to analyze the sensitivity. According to the verified sensitivity, direct measurement can be recommenced for absolute radiometric calibration.

Theoretical development to generate the directional extreme waves in model basin is established based on wave focusing method. The effects of associated parameters, such as the directional range, frequency width, and center frequency, are investigated in terms of wave focusing efficiency. The two different spectral models of constant wave amplitude and constant wave slope are applied to control the wave characteristics. The wave packets simulated by theory are compared with numerical results based on Boussinesq equation and FEM. Both controls of direction and frequency spectrum are essential to focus directional waves effectively. It is noticed that wave focusing ability depends on the frequency bandwidth of spectrum rather than center frequency, and both spectral models with same parameters result in the equivalent efficiency of wave focusing.
In automotive industry, light weight vehicle is one of issues because of the air pollution and the protection of environment. Therefore, automotive manufacturers have tried to apply light materials such as aluminum to car body. Aluminum welding using laser has some advantages high energy density and high productivity. It is very important to understand behavior of plasma and keyhole in order to improve weld quality and monitor the weld state. In this study, spectral analysis was carried out to verify the spectrum for plasma which is generated in laser welding of A 6000 aluminum alloy. Two photodiodes which cover the range of plasma wavelength was used to measure light emission during laser welding according to assist gas flow rate and welding speed. Analysis of relationship between sensor signals of welding variables and formation of keyhole and plasma is performed. To determine the level of significance, analysis of variation (ANOVA) was carried out.
This paper introduces the characteristics and generation of the synchrotron radiation (SR). SR has the very high spectral brilliance, broad spectral range, X-ray wavelength tunability, high degree of polarization and collimation, and pulsed time structure. Also describes the technologies to apply in the fields of geology and environmental sciences. These include X-ray tomography, XRF, EXAFS, XANES, DAC, IVP experiments. Further, nuclear power generation and nuclear waste disposal methods are mentioned relating to energy. Using these, analyses of the chemistry, crystal structure and chemical combining states of minerals and rocks can be carried out. Applications in the fields of the economic geology, paleontology and environmental sciences are open too. Informations of the Earth interior materials' behavior under high pressure-temperature can be acquired.
The L1641 cloud in Orion is an active site of star formation. We mapped a square region of 60 arcmin by 60 arcmin in the continuum emission from 0.89 mm to 2.0 mm wavelength using MUSIC mounted on the Caltech Submillimeter Observatory 10.4 m telescope. Eight sources were detected in at least two wavelength bands, and all the detected emission comes from thermal dust continuum radiation of dense cloud cores. Their spectral energy distributions were characterized. The dust emissivity spectral index is beta = 1.3 on average, within the range of typical cores in nearby star-forming regions. Two cores, V380 Ori NE and HH 34 MMS, have unusually low emissivity index of beta = 0.3. These cores may contain millimeter-sized dust grains, which suggests that the lifetime of some dense cores can be much longer than the free-fall timescale.
