We consider the asymptotic results of the variance ratio statistic when the underlying processes have moving average(MA) unit roots. This degenerate situation of zero spectral density near the origin cause the limit of the variance ratio to become zero. Its asymptotic behaviors are different from non-degenerating case, where the convergence rate of the variance ratio statistic is formally derived.

We. develop in this study a wavelet transform method to apply to the flux reconstruction problem in reactor analysis. When we reconstruct pinwise heterogeneous flux by iterative methods, a difficulty arises due to the near singularity of the matrix as the mesh size becomes finer. Here we suggest a wavelet transform to tower the spectral radius of the near singular matrix and thus to converge by a standard iterative scheme. We find that the spectral radios becomes smatter than one after the wavelet transform is performed on sample problems.
In this paper, a non-overlapping rectangular domain decomposition method is presented in order to numerically solve two-dimensional telegraph equations. The method is unconditionally stable and efficient. Spectral radius of the iteration matrix and convergence rate of the method are provided theoretically and confirmed numerically by MATLAB. Numerical experiments of examples are compared with several methods.

We propose a new calibration method, which uses the linearization method for spectral responses and the repetitive adoptions of the linearization weight matrices to construct a frature. Weight matrices are estimated through multiple linear regression (or principal component regression or partial least squares) with forward variable selection. The proposed method is applied to three data sets. The first is FTIR spectral data set for FeO content from sinter process and the second is NIR spectra from trans-alkylation process having two constituent variables. The third is NIR spectra of crude oil with three physical property variables. To see the calibration performance, we compare the new method with the PLS. It is found that the new method gives a little better performance than the PLS and the calibration result is stable in spite of the collinearity among each selected spectral responses. Furthermore, doing the repetitive adoptions of linearization matrices in the proposed methods, uninformative variables are disregarded. That is, the new methods include the effect of variables subset selection, simultaneously.
A high-order spectral/boundary-element method is newly adapted as an efficient numerical tool. This method is one of the most efficient numerical methods by which the nonlinear gravity waves can be simulated and hydrodynamic forces also can be calculated in time-domain. In this method, the velocity potential is expressed as the sum of surface potential and body potential. Then, surface potential is solved by using the high-order spectral method and body potential is solved by using the high-order boundary element method. By the combination of these two methods, the wave-making problems by a submerged sphere oscillating with large amplitude under the free~surface are solved in time-domain. Through the example calculations, nonlinear effects on free-surface profiles and hydrodynamic forces are shown and discussed.

Spectroscopic observations commonly use a slit or fiber; however, non-slit spectroscopy enables us to observe a larger number of targets in one frame of image. Hence, it has been adopted as an observational mode for observatories like HST and JWST. Slitless spectroscopy requires wavelength calibration solutions in order to distinguish and measure the absorption / emission lines from the spectra with high accuracy. We installed the Volume Phase Holographic (VPH) grating to SQUEAN camera on the McDonald 2.1m telescope and obtained images with spectral resolutions of ~ 100 and 200. In order to derive the wavelength calibration, we measured the distances between the 0th order images and spectral features of various quasars. The distances are converted to wavelengths using the known wavelengths of the emission lines. We tested several different methods of spectral extraction and peak estimation of emission lines. We will present the results for the wavelength calibration and suggest the reliable methods to find the solution.
A suitable pan-sharpening method has to be chosen with respect to the used spectral characteristic of the multispectral bands and the intended application. The research on pan-sharpening algorithm in improving the accuracy of image classification has been reported. For a classification, preserving the spectral information is important. Other applications such as road detection depend on a sharp and detailed display of the scene. Various criteria applied to scenes with different characteristics should be used to compare the pan-sharpening methods. The pan-sharpening methods in our research comprise rather common techniques like Brovey, IHS(Intensity Hue Saturation) transform, and PCA(Principal Component Analysis), and more complex approaches, including wavelet transformation. The extraction of matching pairs was performed through SIFT descriptor and Canny edge detector. The experiments showed that pan-sharpening techniques for spatial enhancement were effective for extracting point and linear features. As a result of the validation it clearly emphasized that a suitable pan-sharpening method has to be chosen with respect to the used spectral characteristic of the multispectral bands and the intended application. In future it is necessary to design hybrid pan-sharpening for the updating of features and land-use class of a map.

The paper deals with the applications of spectral finite element method to the dynamic analysis of framed foundations supporting high speed machines. Comparative performance of approximate dynamic stiffness methods formulated using static stiffness and lumped or consistent or average mass matrices with the exact spectral finite element for a three dimensional Euler-Bernoulli beam element is presented. The convergence of response computed using mode superposition method with the appropriate dynamic stiffness method as the number of modes increase is illustrated. Frequency proportional discretisation level required for mode superposition and approximate dynamic stiffness methods is outlined. It is reiterated that the results of exact dynamic stiffness method are invariant with reference to the discretisation level. The Eigen-frequencies of the system are evaluated using William-Wittrick algorithm and Sturm number generation in the $LDL^T$ decomposition of the real part of the dynamic stiffness matrix, as they cannot be explicitly evaluated. Major's method for dynamic analysis of machine supporting structures is modified and the plane frames are replaced with springs of exact dynamic stiffness and dynamically flexible longitudinal frames. Results of the analysis are compared with exact values. The possible simplifications that could be introduced for a typical machine induced excitation on a framed structure are illustrated and the developed program is modified to account for dynamic constraint equations with a master slave degree of freedom (DOF) option.
In this study, the topics for free-surface wave simulation, nonlinear hydrodynamic force, and the critical resonance frequency of so-called ${\tau}=U{\omega}/g$=1/4 are discussed. A high-order spectral/boundary element method is newly adapted as an efficient numerical tool. This method is one of the most efficient numerical methods by which the nonlinear gravity waves can be simulated and hydrodynamic forces also can be calculated in time domain. In this method, the velocity potential is expressed as the sum of surface potential and body potential. Then, surface potential is solved by using the high-order spectral method and body potential is solved by using the high-order boundary element method. By the combination of these two methods, the wave-making problems by a submerged sphere oscillating with forward speed under the free-surface are solved in time domain.

Purpose: A narrowband hyperspectral imaging sensor of high-dimensional spectral bands is advantageous for identifying the reflectance by selecting the significant spectral bands for predicting crop yield over the broadband multispectral imaging sensor for each wavelength range of the crop canopy. The images acquired by each imaging sensor were used to develop the models for predicting the Chinese cabbage yield. Methods: The models for predicting the Chinese cabbage (Brassica campestris L.) yield, with multispectral images based on unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), were developed by simple linear regression (SLR) using vegetation indices, and forward stepwise multiple linear regression (MLR) using four spectral bands. The model with hyperspectral images based on the ground were developed using forward stepwise MLR from the significant spectral bands selected by dimension reduction methods based on a partial least squares regression (PLSR) model of high precision and accuracy. Results: The SLR model by the multispectral image cannot predict the yield well because of its low sensitivity in high fresh weight. Despite improved sensitivity in high fresh weight of the MLR model, its precision and accuracy was unsuitable for predicting the yield as its $R^2$ is 0.697, root-mean-square error (RMSE) is 1170 g/plant, relative error (RE) is 67.1%. When selecting the significant spectral bands for predicting the yield using hyperspectral images, the MLR model using four spectral bands show high precision and accuracy, with 0.891 for $R^2$, 616 g/plant for the RMSE, and 35.3% for the RE. Conclusions: Little difference was observed in the precision and accuracy of the PLSR model of 0.896 for $R^2$, 576.7 g/plant for the RMSE, and 33.1% for the RE, compared with the MLR model. If the multispectral imaging sensor composed of the significant spectral bands is produced, the crop yield of a wide area can be predicted using a UAV.
