  • Detection in remotely sensed images can be conducted spatially, spectrally or both [2]. If the images have high spatial resolution, materials can be detected by using spatial and spectral information, unless we can't see the object embedded in a pixel. In this paper, we intend to solve the limit of spatial resolution by using the hyperspectral image which has high spectral resolution. Therefore, the Linear Spectral Mixing(LSM) Model which is sub-pixel detection algorithm is used to solve this problem. To find class Endmembers, we applied Geometric Model with MNF(Minimum Noise Fraction) transformation. From the result of sub-pixel detection algorithm, we can see the detection of water is satisfied and the object shape cannot be extracted but the possibility of material existence can be identified.

Data Fusion Using Image Segmentation in High Spatial Resolution Satellite Imagery

  • This paper describes a data fusion method for high spatial resolution satellite imagery. The pixels located around an object edge have spectral mixing because of the geometric primitive of pixel. The larger a size of pixel is, the wider an area of spectral mixing is. The intensity of pixels adjacent edges were modified by the spectral characteristics of the pixels located inside of objects. The methods developed in this study were tested using IKONOS Multispectral and Pan data of a part of Jeju-shi in Korea. The test application shows that the spectral information of the pixels adjacent edges were improved well.

반도체 광증폭기내의 Highly Nondegenerate Four-Wave Mixing에 의한 파장변환의 해석 (Analysis of wavelength conversion by highly nondegenerate four-wave mixing in a semiconductor optical amplifier)

  • 본 논문에서는 반도체 광증폭기내에서 four-wave mixing을 발생시키는 spectral hole burning을 더욱 정확하게 해석하기 위하여 밀도행렬을 기존의 방법에 비하여 정확하게 푸는 방법에 대하여 설명하고 이러한 밀도행렬에 대한 수치해석을 실시하여 그 해를 구한다. 이렇게 구한 결과를 통해 반도체 광증폭기내에서의 four-wave mixing에 의한 파장변환을 설명하는 결합 파동 방정식을 유도하고 이것의 해를 구하여 반도체 광증촉기에서의 파장변환이 어떻게 발생하는 지를 설명하고 3차 섭동을 이용하여 계산된 기존의 결과와 비교한다.

Sub-Pixel Analysis of Hyperspectral Image Using Linear Spectral Mixing Model and Convex Geometry Concept

  • In the middle-resolution remote sensing, the Ground Sampled Distance (GSD) that the detector senses and samples is generally larger than the actual size of the objects (or materials) of interest, and so several objects are embedded in a single pixel. In this case, as it is impossible to detect these objects by the conventional spatial-based image processing techniques, it has to be carried out at sub-pixel level through spectral properties. In this paper, we explain the sub-pixel analysis algorithm, also known as the Linear Spectral Mixing (LSM) model, which has been experimented using the Hyperion data. To find Endmembers used as the prior knowledge for LSM model, we applied the concept of the convex geometry on the two-dimensional scatter plot. The Atmospheric Correction and Minimum Noise Fraction techniques are presented for the pre-processing of Hyperion data. As LSM model is the simplest approach in sub-pixel analysis, the results of our experiment is not good. But we intend to say that the sub-pixel analysis shows much more information in comparison with the image classification.

독립 성분 분석과 스펙트럼 향상에 의한 잡음 환경에서의 음성인식 (Speech Recognition in Noise Environment by Independent Component Analysis and Spectral Enhancement)

  • In this paper, we propose a speech recognition method based on independent component analysis (ICA) and spectral enhancement techniques. While ICA tris to separate speech signal from noisy speech using multiple channels, some noise remains by its algorithmic limitations. Spectral enhancement techniques can compensate for lack of ICA's signal separation ability. From the speech recognition experiments with instantaneous and convolved mixing environments, we show that the proposed approach gives much improved recognition accuracies than conventional methods.

채널 간격이 일정한 WDM 전송에서의 Mid-Span Spectral Inversion을 이용한 보상 특성 (Characteristics of Compensation for WDM Transmission with Equally Spaced Channels using Mid-Span Spectral Inversion)

  • 채널 간격이 100 ㎓로 일정하고 채널 비트율이 40 Gbps인 16-채널 WDM 시스템에 MSSI(Mid-Span Spectral Inversion) 기법을 적용한 경우의 4-광파 혼합(FWM: Four-Wave Mixing)에 의해 왜곡된 채널 신호의 보상 특성을 살펴보았다. MSSl를 통한 광대역 보상을 위해 광 위상 공액기(OPC: Optical Phase Conjugator)의 비선형 매질로 HNL-DSF(Highly-Nonlinear Dispersion Shifted Fiber)를 사용하였다. 우선 MSSI 기법을 이용하면 FWM에 의한 채널 간섭의 영향을 모든 채널에 걸쳐 특정 입력 전력 범위 내에서 비슷한 특성으로 줄일 수 있다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 그러나 OPC에 의해 생성되는 공액파 전력이 입력 신호파 전력에 비해 작은 장파장 채널들은 광섬유의 분산 계수가 커질수록 보상의 정도가 줄어드는 것도 알 수 있었다. 즉 분산 계수가 비교적 적은 광섬유를 통해 채널 간격이 일정한 WDM 채널들을 특정 전력 이내에서 양호한 품질로 전송하는데 HNL-DSF를 이용한 MSSI 보상 기법이 효과적이라는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • 채널 간격이 균등한 WDM(Wavelength Division Multiplexing) 시스템에서 4-광파 혼합(FWM ; Four-Wave Mixing)의 영향을 가장 많이 받는 중간 채널의 MSSI(Mid-Span Spectral Inversion)를 통한 보상 특성을 채널 입력 전력, 광섬유 분산 계수, 전송 거리 변화에 따라 살펴보았다. MSSI를 위한 전체 전송 링크 중간에 위치한 광 위상 공액기의 비선형 매질로는 광대역 전송을 가능하게 하는 HNL-DSF(Highly Nonlinear Dispersion Shifted fiber)를 사용했다. 우선 변조 파형의 형식에 상관없이 WDM 시스템의 광섬유 분산 계수가 클수록 FWM에 의한 채널 간섭의 영향을 줄일 수 있다는 것과 이 경우 WDM 채널 수에 상관없는 고전력 전송은 변조 파형 형식으로 RZ를 사용함으로써 가능하다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 그러나 WDM 채널 수 변동에 대한 유연한 시스템 구축을 위해서는 변조 파형 형식으로 NRZ를 사용하는 것이 유리하다는 것을 확인하였다.

Large eddy simulation on the turbulent mixing phenomena in 3×3 bare tight lattice rod bundle using spectral element method

  • Subchannel code is one of the effective simulation tools for thermal-hydraulic analysis in nuclear reactor core. In order to reduce the computational cost and improve the calculation efficiency, empirical correlation of turbulent mixing coefficient is employed to calculate the lateral mixing velocity between adjacent subchannels. However, correlations utilized currently are often fitted from data achieved in central channel of fuel assembly, which would simply neglect the wall effects. In this paper, the CFD approach based on spectral element method is employed to predict turbulent mixing phenomena through gaps in 3 × 3 bare tight lattice rod bundle and investigate the flow pulsation through gaps in different positions. Re = 5000,10000,20500 and P/D = 1.03 and 1.06 have been covered in the simulation cases. With a well verified mesh, lateral velocities at gap center between corner channel and wall channel (W-Co), wall channel and wall channel (W-W), wall channel and center channel (W-C) as well as center channel and center channel (C-C) are collected and compared with each other. The obvious turbulent mixing distributions are presented in the different channels of rod bundle. The peak frequency values at W-Co channel could have about 40%-50% reduction comparing with the C-C channel value and the turbulent mixing coefficient β could decrease around 25%. corrections for β should be performed in subchannel code at wall channel and corner channel for a reasonable prediction result. A preliminary analysis on fluctuation at channel gap has also performed. Eddy cascade should be considered carefully in detailed analysis for fluctuating in rod bundle.

세라믹 화이버 버너의 CO 배출과 복사강도 특성 (Carbon Monoxide Emission and Radiation Properties in Ceramic Fiber Radiant Burner)

  • An experimental study was performed to investigate the effects of mixing quality, inlet pressure, nozzle diameter on CO emission and radiation characteristics in porous ceramic fiber radiant burners. Observations of combustion characteristics occurring inside the burner system which was insulated fiber mat, were investigated by measuring temperature, CO emission and radiation characteristics. Combustion was achieved at the firing rate of $88{\sim}99$ kcal/hr, inlet pressure of $100{\sim}250$mm$H_2O$. CO emissions were found to be strongly dependent on the operating conditions. There was a tendency that CO concentration increased as the firing rate increases. The reason for rise of CO concentration is that it becomes the relatively rich condition. The fiber burner exhibit significant both spectral intensity peaks in the bands at 2.5${\mu}m$ and 4.0${\mu}m$ relatively, There is a small difference in the variable mixing tube. However spectral intensity increased with the firing rate.

Evaluation of Chromatic-Dispersion-Dependent Four-Wave-Mixing Efficiency in Hydrogenated Amorphous Silicon Waveguides

  • We present an experimental and numerical study of spectral profiles of effective group indices of hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) waveguides and of their chromatic-dispersion effect on the four-wave-mixing (FWM) signal generation. The a-Si:H waveguides of 220-nm thickness and three different widths of 400, 450 and 500 nm were fabricated by using the conventional CMOS device processes on a $2-{\mu}m$ thick $SiO_2$ bottom layer deposited on 8-inch Si wafers. Mach-Zehnder interferometers (MZIs) were formed with the a-Si:H waveguides, and used for precise measurement of the effective group indices and thus for determination of the spectral profile of the waveguides' chromatic dispersion. The wavelength ranges for the FWM-signal generation were about 45, 75 and 55 nm for the 400-, 450- and 500-nm-wide waveguides, respectively, at the pump wavelength of 1532 nm. A widest wavelength range for the efficient FWM process was observed with the 450-nm-wide waveguide having a zero-dispersion near the pump wavelength.
