In order to efficiently monitor red tide over a wide range, the need for red tide detection using remote sensing is increasing. However, the previous studies focus on the development of red tide detection algorithm for ocean colour sensor. In this study, we propose the use of multi-sensor to improve the inaccuracy for red tide detection and remote sensing data in coastal areas with high turbidity, which are pointed out as limitations of satellite-based red tide monitoring. The study area were selected based on the red tide information provided by National Institute of Fisheries Science, and spatial fusion and spectral-based fusion were attempted using GOCI image as ocean colour sensor and Landsat OLI image as terrestrial sensor. Through spatial fusion of the two images, both the red tide of the coastal area and the outer sea areas, where the quality of Landsat OLI image was low, which were impossible to observe in GOCI images, showed improved detection results. As a result of spectral-based fusion performed by feature-level and rawdata-level, there was no significant difference in red tide distribution patterns derived from the two methods. However, in the feature-level method, the red tide area tends to overestimated as spatial resolution of the image low. As a result of pixel segmentation by linear spectral unmixing method, the difference in the red tide area was found to increase as the number of pixels with low red tide ratio increased. For rawdata-level, Gram-Schmidt sharpening method estimated a somewhat larger area than PC spectral sharpening method, but no significant difference was observed. In this study, it is shown that coastal red tide with high turbidity as well as outer sea areas can be detected through spatial fusion of ocean colour and terrestrial sensor. Also, by presenting various spectral-based fusion methods, more accurate red tide area estimation method is suggested. It is expected that this result will provide more precise detection of red tide around the Korean peninsula and accurate red tide area information needed to determine countermeasure to effectively control red tide.
The presence of noise in speech signals degrades the performance of recognition systems in which there are mismatches between the training and test environments. To make a speech recognizer robust, it is necessary to compensate these mismatches. In this paper, we studied about an improvement of stochastic feature extraction based on band-SNR for robust speech recognition. At first, we proposed a modified version of the multi-band spectral subtraction (MSS) method which adjusts the subtraction level of noise spectrum according to band-SNR. In the proposed method referred as M-MSS, a noise normalization factor was newly introduced to finely control the over-estimation factor depending on the band-SNR. Also, we modified the architecture of the stochastic feature extraction (SFE) method. We could get a better performance when the spectral subtraction was applied in the power spectrum domain than in the mel-scale domain. This method is denoted as M-SFE. Last, we applied the M-MSS method to the modified stochastic feature extraction structure, which is denoted as the MMSS-MSFE method. The proposed methods were evaluated on isolated word recognition under various noise environments. The average error rates of the M-MSS, M-SFE, and MMSS-MSFE methods over the ordinary spectral subtraction (SS) method were reduced by 18.6%, 15.1%, and 33.9%, respectively. From these results, we can conclude that the proposed methods provide good candidates for robust feature extraction in the noisy speech recognition.
The objectives of this investigation are : 1. To analyze spectral signature and the associated vegetation index for geometric illumination conditions inf1uenced by low solar elevation and high slope orientations in mountainous forest. 2. To assess the accuracy of the spectral angle mapper classification for the a winter land cover in comparison with the maximum likelihood classification. 3. To produce the image of water quality and water properties that could be used to estimate the water pollution sources and the tide-included by turbid water in estuarine and coastal areas. These objectives are to characterize environmental and ecological monitoring applications of the Nak-Dong River Basin by using Fuyo-1 OPS VNIR data acquired on December 26, 1992. The results of this paper are as follows : 1. The spectral digital numbers and vegetation indexes (NDVI and TVI) of mountainous forest are higher on the slope facing the sun than on the slope hidden the sun under low sun elevation condition. 2. The spectral angle mapper algorithm produces a more accurate land cover classification of areas with steep slope, various aspects and low solar elevation than the maximum likelihood classifier. 3. The maximum likelihood classification images can be used for identifying the location and movement of both freshwater and salt water, regardless of geometric illumination conditions. 4. The color-coded density sliced image of selected water bodies by using the near-infrared band 3 can provide distribution of the water quality of the Lower Nak-Dong River. 5. The color-coded normalized difference vegetation index image of the selected mountain forest is suitable to classify winter vegetation cover types, i.e., forest canopy densities for slope orientations.
As the number of multispectral satellites increases, it is expected that it will be possible to acquire and use images for periodically. However, there is a problem of data discrepancy due to different overpass time, period and spatial resolution. In particular, the difference in band bandwidths became different reflectance even for images taken at the same time and affect uncertainty in the analysis of vegetation activity such as vegetation index. The purpose of this study is to estimate the band adjustment factor according to the difference of bandwidth with other multispectral satellites for the application of KOMPSAT-3 satellite in agriculture field. The Spectral band adjustment factor (SBAF) were calculated using the hyperspectral satellite images acquired in the desert area. As a result of applying SBAF to the main crop area, the vegetation index showed a high agreement rate of relative percentage difference within 3% except for the Hapcheon area where the zenith angle was 25. For the estimation of SBAF, this study used only one set of images, which did not consider season and solar zenith angle of SBAF variation. Therefore, long-term analysis is necessary to solve SBAF uncertainty in the future.

Cognitive radio (CR) systems have received significant interest as a promising solution to the spectral shortage problem through efficient use of the frequency spectrum by opportunistically exploiting unlicensed frequency bands. Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is widely regarded as a highly promising candidate for CR systems. However, the frequency bands used by CR systems are expected to suffer from non-Gaussian noise, which considerably degrades the performance of the conventional OFDM carrier frequency offset (CFO) estimation schemes. In this paper, robust CFO estimation schemes for OFDM-based CR systems in non-Gaussian channels are proposed. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed estimators offer robustness and substantial performance improvement over the conventional estimator.
In this paper, we propose a vocal separation method using weighted ${\beta}$-order minimum mean wquare error estimation (WbE) based on kernel back-fitting algorithm. In spoken speech enhancement, it is well-known that the WbE outperforms the existing Bayesian estimators such as the minimum mean square error (MMSE) of the short-time spectral amplitude (STSA) and the MMSE of the logarithm of the STSA (LSA), in terms of both objective and subjective measures. In the proposed method, WbE is applied to a basic iterative kernel back-fitting algorithm for improving the vocal separation performance from monaural music signal. The experimental results show that the proposed method achieves better separation performance than other existing methods.
Accurate assessment of chlorophyll-a (Chl-a) concentrations in inland waters using remote sensing is challenging due to the optical complexity of case 2 waters. and the inherent optical properties (IOPs) of natural waters are the most significant factors affecting light propagation within water columns, and thus play indispensable roles on estimation of Chl-a concentrations. Despite its importance, no IOPs retrieval model was specifically developed for inland water bodies, although significant efforts were made on oceanic inversion models. So we have applied and validated a recently developed Red-NIR three-band model and an IOPs Inversion Model for estimating Chl-a concentration and deriving inland water IOPs in Lake Uiam. Three band and IOPs based Chl-a estimation model accuracy was assessed with samples collected in different seasons. The results indicate that this models can be used to accurately retrieve Chl-a concentration and absorption coefficients. For all datasets the determination coefficients of the 3-band models versus Chl-a concentration ranged 0.65 and 0.88 and IOPs based model versus Chl-a concentration varied from 0.73 to 0.83 respectively. and Comparison between 3-band and IOPs based models showed significant performance with decrease of root mean square error from 18% to 33.6%. The results of this study provides the potential of effective methods for remote monitoring and water quality management in turbid inland water bodies using hyper-spectral remote sensing.

The human voice is a convenient method of information transfer between different objects such as between men, men and machine, between machines. The development of information and communication technology, the voice has been able to transfer farther than before. The way to communicate, it is to convert the voice to another form, transmit it, and then reconvert it back to sound. In such a communication process, a vocoder is a method of converting and re-converting a voice and sound. The CELP (Code-Excited Linear Prediction) type vocoder, one of the voice codecs, is adapted as a standard codec since it provides high quality sound even though its transmission speed is relatively low. The EVRC (Enhanced Variable Rate CODEC) and QCELP (Qualcomm Code-Excited Linear Prediction), variable bit rate vocoders, are used for mobile phones in 3G environment. For the real-time implementation of a vocoder, the reduction of sound quality is a typical problem. To improve the sound quality, that is important to know the size and shape of noise. In the existing sound quality improvement method, the voice activated is detected or used, or statistical methods are used by the large mount of data. However, there is a disadvantage in that no noise can be detected, when there is a continuous signal or when a change in noise is large. This paper focused on finding a better way to decrease the reduction of sound quality in lower bit transmission environments. Based on simulation results, this study proposed a preprocessor application that estimates the SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) using the spectral SNR estimation method. The SNR estimation method adopted the IMBE (Improved Multi-Band Excitation) instead of using the SNR, which is a continuous speech signal. Finally, this application improves the quality of the vocoder by enhancing sound quality adaptively.

In this paper, we propose a new SC-FDE (single carrier frequency domain equalization) structure to cope with narrow band interference signals or jammers and reduce pilot overhead. The conventional SC-FDE structure has a problem that the receiver performance degrades severely due to difficulty in time-domain channel estimation when narrow band jammers exist. In addition, the spectral efficiency is lowered by transmitting pilot at every SC-FDE block to estimate channel response. In order to overcome those problems, the proposed structure is devised to estimate frequency domain channel directly without time domain channel estimation. To reduce the pilot overhead, several data blocks are transmitted between two pilots. The channel estimate of each data block is found through linear interpolation of two channel estimates at two pilots. By performing frequency domain channel equalization using this channel estimate, the distortion by the channel is well compensated when narrow band jammers exist. The performance of the proposed structure is confirmed by computer simulation.

A robust speech recognition technology is required that does not degrade the performance of speech recognition and the quality of the speech when speech recognition is performed in an actual environment of the speech mixed with noise. With the development of such speech recognition technology, it is necessary to develop an application that achieves stable and high speech recognition rate even in a noisy environment similar to the human speech spectrum. Therefore, this paper proposes a speech enhancement algorithm that processes a noise suppression based on the MMSA-STSA estimation algorithm, which is a short-time spectral amplitude method based on the error of the least mean square. This algorithm is an effective nonlinear speech enhancement algorithm based on a single channel input and has high noise suppression performance. Moreover this algorithm is a technique that reduces the amount of distortion of the speech based on the statistical model of the speech. In this experiment, in order to verify the effectiveness of the MMSA-STSA estimation algorithm, the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is verified by comparing the input speech waveform and the output speech waveform.
