  • In spite of many accidents still occur repeatedly. The reason why we have so many accidents in industrial plants is mainly due to lack of effective safety education. Most safety education committed by safety staff is composed of general education and/or accident case studies. However, it is quite natural that the safety education should be more task- specific rather than general, if it be effective. Thus for preventing gas leakage accidents during changing explosive gas cylinders, this study aimed to analyze a manual chaning work in semiconductor plants, and to deaw importamt educational points. With the help of HRA and ETA, the most important task truned out to be reconfirmation of regulator gauges. Under the assump- tion of independent events, the estimated leakage probability was 23004E-05 which seriously understimated the probability, 8.1008E-05 under the assumption of dependent events. And the most probable situation would be gas leakge from the used gas cylinder. It was made clear that the assumption of independence could distrot safety educational focus.

  • Material information for environment may be useful to accomplish mobile robot localization. A procedure to classify a set of indoor materials (glass, steel, wood, aluminum and concrete) with the reflected signal of ultrasonic sensor is proposed in this paper. The main idea is to use material-specific reflection characteristics for the recognition of material type. To achieve the classification task, we modeled reflected signal as a maximum amplitude with respect to distance. In this way, we can generate echo signal models for the given materials and these models are used to compare with the current sensor reading. The experimental results show that the proposed method may give material information during map building task of mobile robot.

  • The Vietnamese language has a specific property related to the zero in the name-number system. This study was conducted to examine the impact of linguistic differences and of the zero's position in a number on a transcoding task (verbal number into Arabic number). Vietnamese children and French-speaking Belgian children, from grades 3 to 6, participated in the study. The success rate and the type of errors they made varied, depending on their grade and language. At Grade 4, Vietnamese children showed performances equivalent to Grade 6 Belgian children. Our results confirmed the support provided by language to the understanding and performances in a transcoding task. Results also showed that a syntactic zero is easier to manipulate than a lexical zero for Vietnamese children. The relative influence of language and the source of errors are discussed.

  • Recently our government operates earned value management system (EVMS) for improving work management system of the construction projects over specific scale. The EVMS is based on the integrated management between construction cost and schedule. the existing systems, however, are focused on the cost management by using work quantity. This study suggests a work management model to integrate construction cost with activity information. The model introduces a work task concept as a tool that can connect construction rest to activity information. The suggested model in this study is verified by using actual data for the applicability to practical construction projects.

  • The purpose of this paper is to suggest the improving plans about the system as searching an effective managing devices for NEIS with analysis of managing condition. For the plans, questionnaire was performed in the five sections to primary and secondary school teachers. Those were recognition about C/S, Introduction and conductive processing of NEIS, Satisfaction of specific task on school affairs and educational matters, its function, efficiency and security as well as technical problem. Those were recognition about C/S, Introduction and conductive processing of NEIS, Satisfaction of specific task on school affairs and educational matters, its function, efficiency and security as well as technical problem. The results are following: First. in spite of satisfaction with function of C/S, it have been some problems such as frequent patch and down of server. Secondly, although the introduction of NEIS was done in hurry without gathering teachers' opinions and sufficient research of system, it has been expected to settle down normally with correction and security. Thirdly, positive reaction was generally showed in research on satisfaction of specific task for school affairs and educational matters. Fourthly, most of teachers have known the functions of NEIS and recognized its convenience. Although they has not thought it reduced their work, they have realized it's convenient for dealing with statistics. Lastly, they think of NEIS as the essential system for the age of information, in spite of problems such as reveal of personal data and security. Therefore, we should keep eyes to problem of an invasion of human right. In addition, study deep into NEIS should be conducted with consistent security for the system. In order to it. technical and legal system should be carried out side by side.

  • This paper introduces an approach to an ontology-based knowledge framework for product life cycle management (PLM). Participants in a product life cycle want to share comprehensive product knowledge without any ambiguity and heterogeneity. However, previous knowledge management approaches are limited in providing those aspects. Therefore, we suggest an ontology-based knowledge framework including knowledge maps, axioms and specific knowledge far domain. The bottom level, the axiom, specifies the semantics of concepts and relations of knowledge so that ambiguity of the semantics can be alleviated. The middle level is a product development knowledge map; it defines the concepts and the relations of the product domain common knowledge and guides engineers to process their engineering decisions. The middle level is then classified further into more detailed levels, such as generic product level, specific product level, product version level, and product item level for PLM. The top level is specialized knowledge fer a specific domain that gives the solution of a specific task or problem. It is classified into three knowledge types: expert knowledge, engineering function knowledge, and data-analysis-based knowledge. This proposed framework is based on ontology to accommodate a comprehensive range of unambiguous knowledge for PLM and is represented with first-order logic to maintain a uniform representation.

  • This paper aims to classify objects and their properties represented in Korea Building Act sentences for applying to BIM-enabled automated code compliance checking task. In order to conduct automated code compliance checking, it is necessary to develop translation process of converting the building act sentences into computer-executable forms. However, since Korea building act sentences are written in natural language, some of requirements are ambiguous to translate explicitly. In this regard, the building act sentences regarding building permit requirements are analyzed focusing on the regulation-specific objects and related properties representation from noun phrases within the scope of this paper. From 1977 building act sentences and attached reference regulations, 1200 regulation-specific objects and about 220 related properties are extracted and classified. In the application for the classification, object-property database is implemented and some of application using the database and the regulation-specific classification is suggested to support to generate rule set written in computable codes.

  • Purpose : To compare fMRIs of visual and auditory word generation tasks, and to evaluate the difference of its activated areas and lateralization according to the mode of stimuli. Materials and Methods : Eight male normal volunteers were included and all were right handed. Functional maps were obtained during auditory and visual word generation tasks in all. Normalized group analysis were performed in each task and the threshold for significance was set at p<0.05. Activated areas in each task were compared visually and statistically. Results : In both tasks, left dominant activations were demonstrated and were more lateralized in visual task. Both frontal lobes (Broca's area, premotor area, and SMA) and left posterior middle temporal gyrus were activated in both tasks. Extensive bilateral temporal activations were noted in auditory task. Both occipital and parietal activations were demonstrated in visual task. Conclusion : Modality independent areas could be interpreted as a core area of language function. Modality specific areas may be associated with processing of stimuli. Visual task induced more lateralized activation and could be a more useful in language study than auditory task.

  • This study is to examine brain regions that are involved in picture encoding in normal adults using fMRI methods. In Scan 1, the picture encoding was studied during a semantic categorization task in comparison with word. In Scan 2 task type effects were studied both during a picture naming task and during a semantic categorization task with pictures. Subjects were asked to make decision either by pressing a mouse button (Scan 1) or by responding subvocally (naming or saying yes/no) (Scan 2). Regardless of stimulus type, left prefrontal, bilateral occipital, and parietal activations were observed during semantic processing in comparison with fixation baseline. Processing of word stimulus relative to picture resulted in activations in prefrontal and parieto-temporal regions in the left side while that of picture stimulus relative to word resultd in activations in bilateral extrastriatal visual cortices and parahippocampal regions. In spite of the same task demands, stimulus-specific information processings were involved and mediated by different neural substrates; the word encoding was associated with more semantic/lexical processings than pictures and the picture processing associated with more perceptual and novelty related information processings than word. Activations of dorsal part of inferior prefrontal region, i.e., Broca's areas were found both during the picture naming and during the semantic tasks subvocally performed Especially, during the picture naming task, greater occipital activations were found bilaterally relative to the semantic categorization task. indicating a possibility that greater and higher visual processing was involved in retrieving the name referred by picture stimuli.
