  • This paper describes development of hardware simulator for the PMSG(Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator) wind power system, which was designed using real wind data. The simulator consists of a realistic wind turbine model using anemometer, vector drive, induction motor. The turbine simulator generates torque and speed signals for a specific wind turbine with respect to given wind speed. This torque and speed signals are scaled down to fit the input of 3kW PMSG. The PMSG-side converter operates to track the maximum power point and the grid-side inverter controls the active and reactive power supplied to the grid. The operational feasibility was first verified by computer simulations with PSCAD/EMTDC. The feasibility of real system implementation was confirmed through experimental works with a hardware set-up.

  • Ramjets are capable of much higher specific impulse than liquid rocket engines for high speed flight in the atmosphere. Ramjets, however, cannot generate thrust at low flight speed. Therefore, an additional propulsion device to accelerate the ramjet vehicle to a supersonic speed is required. In this study, we propose a novel ramjet propulsion system with a $H_2O_2$/Kerosene rocket as the accelerator for initial stage. In order to test the feasibility of this concept, consecutive reactors was built; one for the decomposition of $H_2O_2$ and the other for kerosene combustion. Decomposed $H_2O_2$ jet was injected to combustor through converging nozzle from gas generator and over this hot oxygen jet, kerosene was injected by spay injector. Through the various test cases, hypergolic ignition test was carried out and steady combustion was achieved.

Trailing edge geometry effect on the aerodynamics of low-speed BWB aerial vehicles

  • The influence of different planform parameters on the aerodynamic performance of large-scale subsonic and transonic Blended Wing Body (BWB) aircraft have gained comprehensive research in the recent years, however, it is not the case for small-size low subsonic speed Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). The present work numerically investigates aerodynamics governing four different trailing edge geometries characterizing BWB configurations in standard flight conditions at angles of attack from $-4^{\circ}$ to $22^{\circ}$ to provide generic information that can be essential for making well-informed decisions during BWB UAV conceptual design phase. Simulation results are discussed and comparatively analyzed with useful implications for formulation of proper mission profile specific to every BWB configuration.

왕복동 압축기의 부드러운 정지 제어를 위한 속도 맥동 기반의 기계 각 추정 방식 (Speed Ripple Based Mechanical Angle Estimation Scheme for Smooth Stop Control of Reciprocating Compressor)

  • A mechanical angle estimator is presented in this study to achieve the sensorless control of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) used in driving a reciprocating compressor. Braking the PMSM at a specific mechanical angular position is critical for the silent stoppage of the reciprocating compressor. The performance of conventional mechanical angle observers used in reciprocating compressor drives can be seriously affected according to gains of the speed controller because such observers rely on the magnitude of current ripples. A speed ripple-based mechanical angle estimator is proposed to solve this problem. Experimental results showed the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • This investigation reports the grinding characteristics of titanium alloy(Ti-6Al-4V). Grinding experiments were performed at various grinding conditions and the grinding forces and specific grinding energies were measured to investigate the grindability of titanium alloy with the three different wheels including Diamond, Green carbide and Alumina. To investigate the grinding characteristics of titanium alloy grinding force, force-ratio, specific grinding energy and grinding -ratio, were measured. Surface roughness was also measured with tracer and the ground surfaces were observed with SEM. Force-ratio of grinding of titanium alloy was very lower than that of grinding of SKD-11. Specific grinding energy are almost five times larger and rougher surface was obtained in titanium grinding.

항법상 속력의 제한규칙에 관한 고찰 - VTS의 관제 관점에서 - (A Study on Speed Limit Rules under Sailing Regulations - Focusing on the Perspective of VTS Control -)

  • 모든 선박은 충돌을 피하기 위해 안전속력을 준수하여야 하고, 우리나라 영해 및 내수에서 속력의 제한규칙을 준수하여야 한다. 그리고 선박교통관제사는 선박이 안전속력과 속력의 제한규칙을 준수하도록 적절히 관제하여야 한다. 국제해상충돌예방규칙에서 안전속력은 선박이 명시적으로 몇 노트의 속력으로 항행하여야 하는지 규정하고 있지 않다. 반면에 국내법에서는 교통안전특정해역 등에서 제한속력을 지정하여 이를 준수하도록 하고 있다. 이 속력의 제한규칙은 주로 대지속력을 기준으로 하고 있으나, 대수속력을 기준으로 하는 곳도 있다. 이 논문은 최근 5년간 발생한 해양사고와 제한속력 위반율에 대해 분석하였고, 국제해상충돌예방규칙상 안전속력, 국내외법상 속력의 제한규칙 및 해양안전심판원 재결 중 안전속력을 준수하지 아니한 사례에 대해 살펴보았다. 그 결과, 이 논문에서는 국내법상 속력의 제한규칙이 선박에서 해양사고 예방을 위해 반드시 준수되어야 한다는 것과 선박이 이 규칙을 준수하기 쉽고, 선박교통관제사가 선박을 적절히 관제할 수 있도록 대수속력으로 규정된 속력의 제한규칙을 대지속력으로 개정할 필요가 있다는 것을 제시하였다.

  • A reasonable analysis of cutting force in end milling may give much advantage to improvement of productivity and cutting tool life. In order to analyze cutting force, the cutting dynamics was modelled mathematically by using chip load, cutting geometry, and the relationship between cutting forces and the chip load. Specific cutting constants of the cutting dynamics model were obtained by average cutting forces, tool diameter, cutting speed, feed, axial depth, and radial depth of cut. The effects of the cutting conditions on the specific cutting force constants in milling were studied. The model is verified through comparisons of model predicted cutting forces with measured culling forces obtained from machining experiments

시뮬레이션에 의한 한국 논 토양의 경운저항 특성 (Draft Characteristics of Korea Paddy Field by Computer Simulation)

  • A computer simulation was carried out to investigate draft characteristics of Korean paddy field for obtaining the basic reference to the selection of optimum moldboard type suitable for Korean paddy field conditions. Cylindrical, cylindroidal, semihelical moldboard plows, and one type of oriental Janggi were used for simulation. A series of soil bin experiments was conducted to compare the experimental results with the predicted drafts from computer simulation using the cylindroidal moldboard plow. The computer model predicted draft force with 1~12% error at 12~16cm plowing depth which is the most conventional plowing depth in the rural area in Korea. Thus, the computer model was considered to be good enough for simulation. Due to the different plowing width of experimental plows, specific draft was selected for comparison by computer simulations. Specific draft of cylindrical moldboard plow was ranged from 3 to 6 N/$\textrm{cm}^2$ according to the soil conditions, plowing speed and plowing depth, 2.5~3.0 N/$\textrm{cm}^2$ for semihelical moldboard plow.
