  • The traction motor for High Speed Train is being required reliability and stability for high-speed operation. And also required low noise level, high performance, compact size owing to the space and weight limitation for attaching to train, etc. As a result of requiring the low noise level and high power capacity, it is adopted forced-air-ventilation insead of self-ventilation that is generally used on electric multiple unit. Traction motor is cooled by cooling air through the air-ventilation hole. When the traction motor is operated with forced-air-ventilation, there is some abnormal noise in the specific RPM. This paper is dealing with the method to reduce the resonance phenomena by adopting the rotor blade.

  • The paper presents an electrical model of a grid-connected wind energy conversion system (WECS) with a variable speed drive, a fixed pitch angle, a synchronous generator as a wind generator and AC-DC-AC conversion scheme for simulating dynamic behaviors and performance responding to varying wind speed input. The electric output of the WECS is controlled by the AC-DC-AC conversion scheme, the objective of which is to capture the maximum active power under varying wind conditions and to keep the voltage of WECS terminal bus at a specific level. Aerodynamic models are used to incorporate the power characteristics to wind speed. The modeling and simulation of the WECS are realized on PSCAD/EMTDC environment.

초듀랄류민(A2024-T3)의 절삭거동에 관한 연구 (The Study on the Cutting Behavior of Super Duralumin(A2024-T3))

  • This study was undertaken to investigate the cutting behaviour of super duralumin (A2024-T3) with sintered carbide tool(P20). The cutting test was carried out under different conditions such as cutting speed, cutting depth and rake angle, etc. The specific cutting force Kc and Kt of vertical and radial forces decreases as cutting speed increases, especially the decrease rate of Kt becomes larger than of Kc as cutting speed increases. Kc and Kt in small cutting depth are much affected by work-hardening of surface layer. The chip width and shear angle become layer as cutting depth increases, especially chip width at feed of 0.1mm almost approaches cutting width. Relation between the friction coefficient of chip side and tool rake angle side can make the modelization studying the built-up edge size. The shear angle model equation of super duralumin generally agree with theory of Ernst-Merchant.

  • This study aims at developing the high speed/intelligent machining system using the plug/play method of an open architecture controller. The plug/play technology by the application Specific Function (ASF), can readily implement the open architecture controller into various machining system or other automatic devices. The plug/play method integrates the ASF, visual builder, controller OS technology. This study, as an example, presents a schematic diagram for integration of an open architecture CNC and individual component technology for the high speed/intelligent machining system.

  • Dynamic responses of steel composite bridges for the Korean high-speed railway are analyzed by a modal analysis. The bridge is modeled as a simply supported beam structure and a vehicle of TGV-K is modeled using a moving load assumption. When the train is moving on a bridge, its deck shows resonance phenomenon at a critical velocity. However, it is observed that the dynamic response is greatly reduced at a special range of the span length. The results show that the reduction effect should be considered ill designing the railway bridges. A parametric study of tile dynamic response is performed for different span lengths, and specific train speeds train should be considered in designing the high speed railway bridge are suggested.

  • It has been well known that traffic accidents occur under combined functional contributions of drivers, vehicles and road facilities, and that evaluation of safety levels for a specific road section or point is generally much complicated. Additionally, most of traffic accidents occur randomly implicating it is necessary to be evaluated in terms of probability theory. Thus, the evaluation model which reflects various characteristics and probabilistic distributions of traffic accidents has been necessary. The present paper provides a reliability based model with variables of probabilistic operating speeds and design speeds together which have been individually explaining associated characteristics in traffic accidents. Consequently, the model made it possible for speed management and road improvement projects to be evaluated in a common index. Application studies were performed in three cases. Through the studies, couples of facts were identified that the model successfully considered the probabilistic operating speeds and design speeds together and that then, the model evaluated road safety alternatives relatively which are complicatedly characterized and differently located.

Miller 사이클을 이용한 중형 디젤 기관 성능 개선 (Improving the performance of a Medium Speed Diesel Engine Using Miller Cycle)

  • Miller cycle was studied and analyzed by engine performance simulation to achieve very low fuel consumption and to meet the IMO NOx regulation on a medium speed diesel engine. Based on the performance simulation results the intake valve closing time for HYUNDAI HiMSEN 6H21/32 engine was set at 0deg.ABDC(After Bottom Dead Center). Also, the simulation results indicated that significant NOx reduction could be achieved with low reduction of fuel consumption. The performance simulation investigated the effect of compression ratio and turbocharger on fuel consumption and NOx concentration in combination with Miller cycle. The results indicated a significant reduction of fuel consumption with keeping NOx concentration. The results of performance simulation were compared with measured data to verify simulation results. The comparison showed the maximum error was 2.34% in exhaust temperature. Also, the experimental result showed that improvement in BSFC(Brake Specific Fuel Consumption) was 5.8g/kwh with keeping NOx level similar to simulation result.

  • Many recent development activities suggest the possibility of a high-speed turbo(centrifugal) compressor or blower for the industrial application of compressed air supplying system when used with the most advanced high-speed motor, inverter technology, and advanced bearing for high rotational speed. The problems to be overcome are of reliability, the application of mass production methods, cost effective manufacture and competitive running costs. This presentation is not focused on a specific technology advances but on an overall review of our recent experiences while we have developed the high pressure turbo blower for the commercial purpose.

볼밀링에 의한 알루미늄 프레이크 분말 제조 (Fabrication of Aluminium Flake Powder by Ball Milling Process)

  • A series of test were undertaken in order to estabilish the effect of different milling variables on dimension and quality of aluminium flake powder. Milling conditions such as initial powder size, milling container rotation speed, milling time, and ball size were varied to produce aluminium flake powder. Flake powder could then be obtained with size range from 15 $\mu$m to 40 $\mu$m with a maximum specific surface area of 5 $m^{2}$/g by controlling milling conditions. Diameter of milled powders with different milling container rotation speed and ball size were compared with that obtained from theoretical model. The best flake powder was obtained in milling condition of initial powder with average size of 19 $\mu$m, mill container rotation speed of 80 rpm, balls of 9.5 mm diameter, and milling time of 40 hours.
