A Study on Obstacle Factors at the Mutual Access of Towed Trailer of Car-Ferry between Korea and China using Fuzzy-AHP (Fuzzy-AHP를 활용한 한·중 카페리 피견인 트레일러 상호주행 시 장애요인에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the weights of obstacle factors against mutual access of towed trailers of car-ferry between South Korea and China using Fuzzy-AHP. To this end, factors were first selected through literature research and finally selected through in-depth interviews with a group of experts in cargoes who are currently in car-ferry companies. Selected high rank obstacle factors included unstable service provision, limited policy support, and additional costs being incurred and among them, unstable service provision was identified as the most serious obstacle factor through analysis. Eleven measurement variables selected include insufficient supply of container yard, trailer insurance and management issues, insufficient special equipment, insufficient specialized manpower, limited input service courses, insufficient marketing and public relations strategies, and increasing transportation costs and among them, increasing equipment returning costs due to unbalanced cargo gathering were identified as the most serious obstacle factor through analysis followed by limited input service courses, insufficient special equipment, delays in procedures, and occurrence of additional procedures in order of precedence.

  • This research investigates the characteristics, principles, advantages, factors and problems of cluster development in Kazakhstan, and identifies the prerequisites, conditions and stages of organizing clusters on the framework of special economic zones. In this research, we used methods, which will allow analyzing of the organization industrial clusters in special economic zones in Kazakhstan. The author studied international experience of cluster development and the efficiency of the use of the model of the "rhombus effect" with account the specific features of interaction between the participants of the cluster, analysis of the legal framework for the formation and development of clusters. These have been identified as the more important or strategically necessary clusters in Kazakhstan: innovation-technological cluster, innovation-education cluster, innovation-petrochemical cluster, innovative-metallurgical cluster, transport and logistics cluster, textile industry cluster, tourism cluster, agro cluster, construction cluster, medical and pharmaceutical cluster. Firstly, the results suggest that the interaction of science, education, business and government in the development and implementation of innovation policy is not sufficiently structured to provide a balanced representation of the interests of the range of various innovative enterprises in Kazakhstan. Secondly, the legal basis of cluster development in Kazakhstan is determined. Need to develop mechanisms for the implementation of promising direction. Thirdly, the clusters can be formed in the existing special economic zones, allowing them to get right to the mass production of high-tech products that are developed.

  • This study aims to provide a real-time information to the driver by effectively operating the advanced safety device attached to the freight vehicle, thereby minimizing insecure behavior of the driver such as speeding, rapid acceleration, sudden braking, And improve driving habits to prevent accidents and save energy. Advanced safety equipment is a device that warns the driver that the vehicle leaves the driving lane regardless of the intention of the driver and reduces the risk of traffic accidents by mitigating or avoiding collision by detecting a frontal collision during driving.The main contents of this report are as follows: In case of installing a warning device on a lane departing vehicle (excluding a light vehicle) and a lorry or special vehicle with a total weight exceeding 3.5 tonnes, the driver must continue to operate unless the driver releases the function.In addition, when the automatic emergency braking system is installed, the structure should be such that the braking device is operated automatically after warning the driver when the risk of collision with the running or stopped vehicle in the same direction is detected in front of the driving lane.

  • The purpose of this study was to set and analyze the utilization of the substituted agricultural land in the Dongtan new town in Hwa-seong city. The results of this study were as follows. In the respect of the land efficiency and utilization, the need of the agricultural land in the Dongtan has shrunk. Therefore, the land should be reconsidered and developed as other purposes. The land could be developed as the weekend farm for the city people. The weekend farm is currently gaining popularity because the citizens want to not only experience the nature but also get a healthy food. So, the land in the new town could provide them with a good place. And the Han-ok(Traditional Korean style housing) is recently in the limelight of many people because of its healthy function and the special aesthetic, so the agricultural land of Dongtan could be a great opportunity to develop the Han-ok village. Lastly, the logistics center for agricultural products could be proposed. Because the traffic condition of the new town is satisfactory, the land is idealistic as the logistics center which connect the capital with the local. These practical uses of agricultural land in the Dongtan new town will be able to provide opportunities to improve the quality of life in the area and develop the land more efficiently.

  • To develop the most effect maintenance system of urban MAGLEV train which is being developed based on system engineering, logistics belong to special system engineering were applied to maintenance system and Integrated Logistic Supports (ILS) were employed to tailor every step of MAGLEV project. Since ILS had not been applied to domestic train project, the followings were studied to validate ILS: 1) case studies on maintenance procedures at home and abroad, 2) overview of standardized process of ILS, 3) Comparison and analysis of relationship between RAMS and ILS, 4) Application of ILS to MAGLEV maintenance system and other domestic train system.

  • The Korean government has been working to reduce national logistics costs since the early 1990s. One of the major plans instituted by the government was to build five complex freight terminals using ICDs(inland container depots) as hub inland terminals. This paper explains the process and the methods adopted for site selection, with special focus on the Youngnam Freight Terminal. Among nineteen developable sites in Youngnam region, four candidates were selected based on the Map Overlay Approach under several criteria, including land acquisition costs, proximity to major highways and railroads, suitability of the terrain, etc. In this study, we used the AHP to select the best site among the four sites.

  • Purpose - This study aims to offer the suggestions for the researches and policies that could be used as important data to effectuate future FTA. The objective of this study is to suggest a direction of Korea that can form a new logistics hub in Northeast Asia. Research design, data, and methodology - This study was conducted in parallel with literature review and empirical studies for the analysis. 180 valid samples were collected from Korean consumers', and qualitative analysis was employed on the satisfaction level of imported goods welfare of Korean consumers. Results - It is expected that Korea and China would experience increased opportunity factors in this area with the growth of economic sphere in Northeast Asian. If existing problems are solved by utilizing regional environment efficiently together, the hub function of Northeast Asia logistics will be advanced. Conclusions - Korea is introducing and operating special economic zones that provide the exception and support for foreign investment. Therefore, it is necessary to monitor the prices of imported goods, so that the exporters can adjust the prices and obtain the unjust profit equivalent to the tariff reduction by grasping the overseas market trends of the imported product prices.

  • Every company tries to know who the best and idealistic customers are and how to identify them by use of the special methods. To solve this problem the diamond model of customer stratification, which is the conceptual model, is introduced in this research. We modified the customer stratification model developed by Narayanan et al. (2007). By use of this model we can find out the most profitable customers and then we can plan to improve the profitability of the rest customer groups.

  • Telematics and LBS is one of rapidly emerged technology domains. In order to efficiently construct them, moving object technology which manages huge volume of real-time location data is required. Especially, the query which obtains special sorts of information closely related to the detailed applications is required in order to effectively retrieve and analyze the location data for moving object in logistics domain. It has also complex query structure comparing to the conventional database query. The approach using the standard database query language, like SQL, can be considered as an effective alternative choice. In this paper, we not only propose a new query language, entitled as MOQL based on SQL, for the query processing of the vehicle monitoring and control in e-Logistics but also design and implement the query processor.

A Study on the Operation and Function Improvement for apparel warehouse Using Fuzzy-AHP (Fuzzy-AHP를 활용한 의류 물류창고 운영개선에 관한 연구)

  • Given the expansion of globalization and international trade, the number of apparel consumers is growing every year, making it difficult to estimate the amount of handling needed from the logistics industry. To determine which management factors are important and which ones require improvement, fuzzy AHP was used. Using this method, the factors were ranked in the final analysis as follows: The first and most important factor was training employees (0.17), while the second was fire hazard management (0.169); the third-highest factor was inbound and outbound goods (0.142), and the fourth was the warehouse management system. Barcode management was ranked fifth. By these results, we were able to analyze the processes of clothing warehouses, noting that although the factors appear independent, they are actually connected while proceeding with full management control. Moreover, because of the special characteristics of garments, employee management is crucial. Due to the vulnerability of these goods to fire hazards, this factor must be well managed.
