A Study on Spatial Structure Analysis for Comprehensive Rural Clustered Villages Development Area using the Space Syntax Method Technique (Space Syntax를 이용한 농촌마을종합개발사업 권역의 공간구조분석에 관한 연구)

  • In order to revitalize rural areas fundamentally through multifunctional utilization of their resources, it should be necessary to prepare the rational development plan to the areal characteristics and conditions, and the first priority of its planning works should be given to spatial planning. The space syntax method, a powerful objective and quantitative analysis tool on the relationship between social and spatial characteristics, was introduced in this study. Five Comprehensive Rural Clustered Villages Development Areas in the Jeonnam-province were selected as case study areas, of which total area's and included villages' spatial variables were measured and analyzed. Rural villages analyzed in this study have the spatial structure badly systematized and much complicated, which results from low integration and deep spatial depth of them. And, by virtue of relatively many axial lines, there should be few differences between villages in terms of local integration, connectivity and control, while being significant difference in terms of global integration showing the whole areal characteristics. Intelligibility, the correlation coefficient between connectivity(local variable) and integration(global one) is low, which means that the spatial structure of the study areas is difficult for visitors to understand the area or village well. Spatial configuration analysis results in the case study areas showed that each development area has a unique spatial structure and is differentiated in terms of not only local spatial variables but also global spatial variables. Therefore, global and local characteristics should be considered in spatial analysis of development areas.

Spatial Ability and Mathematical Achievement of Elementary School Students (초등학생의 공간시각화능력 및 수학성취도에 관한 연구)

  • Spatial ability has been valued as one component of intelligence and associated with the achievements in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines and important in STEM education. The purpose of this study is to assess elementary school students' spatial ability and analyze the relationship with mathematical achievement, gender and grade level. This study explored the spatial visualization ability of 1288 elementary school students (grade 4-6) in Seoul and Gangwon province and investigated association between spatial ability and students' mathematics achievement, the students' spatial ability according to their gender and grade level. As a result, this study showed that there were significant correlations between spatial ability and mathematical achievement. And also, boy students were better than girl students in spatial ability and higher grader were better than lower graders in spatial ability. According to these results, spatial ability should be included as one of the important components in identifying students for gifted education programs. Furthermore, more research is needed on how to effectively structure educational opportunities to students both who have high spatial ability and have low spatial ability.

The Design and Implementation of a Reusable Viewer Component

  • This article outlines the capabilities of a viewer component called GridViewer, and proves its reusability. GridViewer was designed for the construction of the image display part of GIS or remote sensing application software, and consequently it is particularly straightforward to closely couple GridViewer with access to very large images. Displaying is performed through pyramid structure, which enables to treat very large dataset up to several gigabytes in size under the limited capability of PC. GridViewer is free from responsibility to handle various formats of raster data files by taking grid coverage, which is designed by OGC to promote interoperability between implementations done by data vendors and software vendors providing analysis and grid processing implementations. GridViewer differs from other such viewer by allowing for clients to extend its function and capability by using small set of methods originally implemented in it. We show its reusability and expandability by applying it in developing application programs performing various functions not supported originally by the GridViewer COM component.

An Automatic Approach for Geometric Correction of Landsat Images

  • Geometric correction is a critical step to remove geometric distortions in satellite images. For correct geometric correction, Ground Control Points (GCPs) have to be chosen carefully to guarantee the quality of corrected satellite images. In this paper, we present an automatic approach for geometric correction by constructing GCP Chip database (GCP DB) that is a collection of pieces of images with geometric information. The GCP DB is constructed by exploiting Landsat's nadir-viewing property and the constructed GCP DB is combined with a simple block matching algorithm for efficient GCP matching. This approach reduces time and energy for tedious manual geometric correction and promotes usage of Landsat images.

  • 최근에 이동객체의 위치정보를 활용한 위치기반서비스(LBS, Location Bases Services)에 대한 관심이 급증하고 있다. 이동객체는 시간에 따라 위치 정보가 계속 변경되는 공간 객체를 의미한다. 전통적으로 고정된 위치정보를 갖는 공간 객체는 GIS 서버에서 저장, 관리되었다. 그러나, 이동객체의 경우, 위치의 변화가 매우 빈번하며, 과거의 위치정보도 관리해야 하므로, 전통적인 GIS 서버로는 관리가 어렵다. 이 논문에서는 위치기반서비스를 위해 위치정보를 저장, 관리하기 위한 위치정보 관리 시스템을 설계한다. 위치정보 관리 시스템는 위치획득 서브시스템, 위치저장 서브시스템, 그리고, 위치질의 서브시스템으로 구성된다. 이 논문의 기여는 이동객체에 대한 위치획득, 저장, 질의 등 각각의 연구 결과를 통합함으로써, 실제 응용에 적용할 수 있는 시스템을 개발하는데 있다.

  • 이 논문에서는 위치기반서비스 플랫폼을 위한 이동객체 질의어를 제안한다. 최근 이동 객체를 다루는 다양한 위치기반서비스 및 데이터베이스 응용들이 등장함에 따라 이동 객체의 공간 정보를 저장 관리하고 정보를 요구하는 다양한 사용자 질의를 처리할 필요성이 대두되었다. 그러나 기존의 이동객체 질의어는 위치기반서비스에서의 특성을 충분히 반영하고 있지 못하다. 따라서 이 논문에서는 이동객체 데이터베이스에 대하여 시계열 질의와 슬라이스 표현을 지원하도록 함으로서 기존 이동객체 질의어에 비해 강력한 표현력을 갖는 질의어를 제안하고 있다.

  • 이동객체 위치획득시스템은 이동체데이터베이스((MODB : Moving Object Database)에서 위치를 획득하는 서브시스템으로써, 사람 또는 자동차와 같이 이동성을 갖는 객체의 위치를 여러 디바이스를 통해서 획득하는 역할을 한다. 이러한 위치획득시스템은 실시간으로 위치를 획득함에 있어서 통신 부하를 최소화하여야 하며, 획득된 정보의 질을 보장하여야 한다. 또한 다양한 데이터의 집합, 다양한 통신 환경 상황에 대하여 다양한 위치획득 모델을 적용할 수 있어야 하며, 어떠한 상황에서도 통신부하를 최소화하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 정적 위치획득 전략, 거리기반 위치획득 전략, 그룹기반 위치획득 전략, 예측기반 위치획득 전략 등, 다양한 위치획득 전략을 모델링 하여 성능을 보장하여야 한다. 이에 본 논문에서는 이러한 다양한 위치획득 모델을 포함하고 있는 위치획득시스템을 구현하여 그 성능을 평가한다.

Measurement of the Spatial Dose Rates from Radioactive Patients during Nuclear Medicine Studies (핵의학 검사에서 환자로부터의 공간선량률 측정)

  • In order to evaluate the exposure to the radiologic technologists from patients who had been administrated with radiopharmaceuticals, we measured the spatial dose rates at 5 cm, 50 cm, and 100 cm from skin surface of patients using an proportional digital surveymeter, both 5 min after injection and right before the studies. In results, the exposure to the technologists in each procedure was small, compared nth the dose limits of the medical workers. However, the dose-response relationships in cancer and hereditary effects, referred to as the stochastic effects, have been assumed linear and no threshold models ; therefore, the exposure should be minimized. For this purpose, the measurements of spatial dose rate distributions were thought to be useful.

Extraction of Spatial Characteristics of Cadastral Land Category from RapidEye Satellite Images

  • With rapid land development, land category should be updated on a regular basis. However, manual field surveys have certain limitations. In this study, attempts were made to extract a feature vector considering spectral signature by parcel, PIMP (Percent Imperviousness), texture, and VIs (Vegetation Indices) based on RapidEye satellite image and cadastral map. A total of nine land categories in which feature vectors were significantly extracted from the images were selected and classified using SVM (Support Vector Machine). According to accuracy assessment, by comparing the cadastral map and classification result, the overall accuracy was 0.74. In the paddy-field category, in particular, PO acc. (producer's accuracy) and US acc. (user's accuracy) were highest at 0.85 and 0.86, respectively.

  • 웹의 특징인 조작의 간편함, 뛰어난 접근성 등으로 인해 웹을 통한 지리정보의 검색, 접근을 위한 웹 맵 서비스의 요구가 증대되고 있다. 지리정보 분야의 대표적인 컨소시움인 OGC 를 통해서 웹 맵 서비스를 위한 표준 인터페이스가 정의됨에 따라 향후 웹을 통한 지리정보의 공유가 활발히 진행될 것으로 예상된다. 그런데, 현재 정의된 웹 맵 서비스에는 3 차원 맵 서비스를 고려하고 있지 않다. 왜냐하면, 3 차원 데이터 모델에 따라 구축된 공간 데이터가 거의 없으며, 맵 출력을 위한 출력 요소 정의 언어인 SVG 또는 WebCGM 등이 3 차원 기하를 표현할 수 없기 때문이다. 이 논문에서는 OCG 의 웹 맵 서비스를 위한 표준 인터페이스를 준수하면서, 최소한의 확장을 통해 3 차원 맵 서비스를 지원하기 위한 웹 맵 서비스 컴포넌트를 제안한다. 3 차원 맵은 2 차원 공간 데이터와 속성 정보를 이용하여 생성하므로, 3 차원 공간 데이터베이스 구축을 위한 추가의 비용이 발생하지 않는다.
