Bayesian Modeling of Mortality Rates for Colon Cancer

  • The aim of this study is to propose a Bayesian model for fitting mortality rate of colon cancer. For the analysis of mortality rate of a disease, factors such as age classes of population and spatial characteristics of the location are very important. The model proposed in this study allows the age class to be a random effect in addition to its conventional role as the covariate of a linear regression, while the spatial factor being a random effect. The model is fitted using Metropolis-Hastings algorithm. Posterior expected predictive deviances, standardized residuals, and residual plots are used for comparison of models. It is found that the proposed model has smaller residuals and better predictive accuracy. Lastly, we described patterns in disease maps for colon cancer.

  • An algorithm for estimating incident angles of multiple broaband signals is proposed. The method adopts semicausal model for two dimensional linear prediction filter coefficients such that the arithmatic averag of the mean squared values of the forward and reverse prediction arrors is minimized. Preliminary results demonstrating the performance of the proposed method are presented. Simulation results indicate that the performance depends on signal-to-noise ratio and prediction order in spatial demension.

면진장치 장착 스카이 브릿지의 사용성 평가 (Serviceability Evaluation of Sky Bridge With Isolation Device)

  • In this study, the boundary non-linear analysis of the sky bridge subjected to walking load and running load is performed. The sky bridge is installed in the mid-story between two buildings and the walking load and running load induced by pedestrians are measured by load cell. LRB is modeled as a non-linear hysteresis model to accurately represent the behavior of LRB. For the serviceability evaluation of sky bridge, the acceleration responses of sky bridge are analyzed based on ISO 2631-2 and the velocity response are analyzed based on standards Bachmann &Amann. In serviceability evaluation of this sky bridge, the pedestrian can not perceive the vibration except for resonance running loads consequently. Therefore, it is concluded that this sky bridge haven't problem in the serviceability.

다중선형 회귀모형과 천리안 지면온도를 활용한 토양수분 산정 연구 (Estimation of Soil Moisture Using Multiple Linear Regression Model and COMS Land Surface Temperature Data)

  • This study is to estimate the spatial soil moisture using multiple linear regression model (MLRM) and 15 minutes interval Land Surface Temperature (LST) data of Communication, Ocean and Meteorological Satellite (COMS). For the modeling, the input data of COMS LST, Terra MODIS Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), daily rainfall and sunshine hour were considered and prepared. Using the observed soil moisture data at 9 stations of Automated Agriculture Observing System (AAOS) from January 2013 to May 2015, the MLRMs were developed by twelve scenarios of input components combination. The model results showed that the correlation between observed and modelled soil moisture increased when using antecedent rainfalls before the soil moisture simulation day. In addition, the correlation increased more when the model coefficients were evaluated by seasonal base. This was from the reverse correlation between MODIS NDVI and soil moisture in spring and autumn season.

  • In this note we present a numerical scheme for finding an approxximate solution of an equation which can be viewed as a model for spatial diffusion of age-depednent biological populations. Discretization of the model yields a linear system with a block tridi-agonal matrix. Our main concern will be discussion of stability for this scheme by examining the eigenvalues of the block tridiagonal matrix. Numerical results are presented.

  • This work deals with nonlinear least squares method for estimating unknown universial constants C in a computer simulation code real experimental data(or database) and computer simulation data. The best linear unbiased predictor based on a spatial statistical model is fitted from the computer simulation data. Then nonlinear least squares estimation method is applied to the real data using the fitted prediction model(or simulation predictor) as if it were the true simulation model. An application to the computational nuclear fusion device is presented.

  • 공간자료분석에서 공간적 상관성을 배제한 일반적인 회귀모형을 통한 모수 추정값들은 신뢰성의 문제가 지적 되어 오고 있다. 본 연구에서는 공간자료의 상관성을 고려한 모형을 구축하기 위하여 일변량 조건부자기회귀모형을 이용하였으며 베이지안 기법을 통하여 모수를 추정하고 공간상관성이 고려된 공간 가산자료모형과 고려되지 않은 일반 가산자료모형을 비교하였다. 연구 대상으로는 서울시의 25개 행정자치구별 총범죄 자료를 이용하였으며 자료분석을 통하여 도시계획과 같은 국가 정책의 수립에 참고자료로 활용될 수 있으리라 판단된다.

  • 비균질 다공성 매질을 통과하는 선형 흡착 용질의 공간적 거동에 대한 특성이 수치적 기법을 통해 분석되었다. 공간적으로 서로 상관된 투수계수의 대수적 분포를 지구통계학적 기법인 TBM(Turning Bands Method)을 사용하여 2차원 공간 내에 발생시켰으며, 이를 통한 지하수 흐름의 수리수두분포와 유속벡터장은 정상상태의 포화된 2차원 지하수 흐름 방정식에 Galerkin 유한요소법을 적용하여 계산하였다. 또한, 용질이동에 대한 수치모의는 시간간격을 자동으로 보정해주는 CD(constant displacement)기법이 포함된 난보모형(Random Walk Particle Tracking Model, RWPTM)을 통해 수행되었다. 본 연구에서 용질의 공간적 거동의 특성은 종방향 질량중심 이동거리, 종방향 공간 퍼짐 모멘트 그리고 용질분포의 종방향 왜곡계수를 통해 분석되었다.

비선형 거동을 하는 비좌굴가새의 유한요소모델 검증 (Finite Element Model Verification of Buckling Restrained Brace With Nonlinear Behavior)

  • In this paper, nonlinear finite element analysis was conducted based on the experimental results on buckling restrained brace. The reliability of the analytical model was verified by comparing the results of experimental studies with hysteresis loop, bi-linear curve, cumulative energy dissipation capacity, and equivalent viscous damping. A valid finite element model has been secured and will be used as basic data for finite element analysis of buckling restrained braces in the future.

A Spectral-spatial Cooperative Noise-evaluation Method for Hyperspectral Imaging

  • Hyperspectral images feature a relatively narrow band and are easily disturbed by noise. Accurate estimation of the types and parameters of noise in hyperspectral images can provide prior knowledge for subsequent image processing. Existing hyperspectral-noise estimation methods often pay more attention to the use of spectral information while ignoring the spatial information of hyperspectral images. To evaluate the noise in hyperspectral images more accurately, we have proposed a spectral-spatial cooperative noise-evaluation method. First, the feature of spatial information was extracted by Gabor-filter and K-means algorithms. Then, texture edges were extracted by the Otsu threshold algorithm, and homogeneous image blocks were automatically separated. After that, signal and noise values for each pixel in homogeneous blocks were split with a multiple-linear-regression model. By experiments with both simulated and real hyperspectral images, the proposed method was demonstrated to be effective and accurate, and the composition of the hyperspectral image was verified.
