The Correlation of Crime-Prone Locations with the Urban Space Configuration in Residential District (도시 가로구조에 의한 장소적 특성과 범죄와의 상관관계에 관한 연구 - B시 단독주거지 사례를 중심으로 -)

  • This study examines the correlations of crime-prone locations with the urban space configuration in residential district. CPTED(Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) is applied to this study and it is intended to control the architectural environment in order to restrain criminal activities. For this reason, an objective analysis for explaining the spatial characteristics of the places where the crimes have occurred is more important than statistical and descriptive approach for analyzing the criminal data. Visibility graph analysis (VGA) supports the CPTED theory in this study for objective interpretation of crime-prone locations and quantitative analysis for built environment. The comparative analysis on object streets and areas are used and the results are followings. The analysis by streets showed that street crimes are correlated with connectivity, control, integration, and integration(r=3) and burglary cases are correlated with control. The analysis by areas showed that street crimes are correlated with connectivity and integration. The T-tests results of crime area and whole area showed that street crimes are correlated with integration and burglary cases have negative correlation with connectivity. Several localized environmental design for crime prevention are also proposed on the basis of this study.

Development of GPS Monitoring System for Behavior Analysis of Long Span Bridge (장대교량의 거동분석을 위한 GPS 모니터링시스템 개발에 관한 연구)

  • This study aims to develop a system which is able to monitor and analyze behavior of long span bridge in real time using multiple GPS. Through setting up many GPS at the important points of long span bridge and measuring displacement in real time, over all behavior of bridge could be analyzed. Behavior analyzing system developed in this study is able to digitize and visualize the overall and points displacement of bridge and deal with events actively. Also it is able to calculate statistical data related to analyze behavior through the constructing a database of measuring data.

Tensile Behaviour of Foamed Metal Matrix Composite Using Stochastic FE Model (통계적 유한요소모델을 이용한 발포된 금속기지 복합재료의 인장특성)

  • In this paper, a modified and representative unit cell model was employed to study the tensile behaviour of closed-cell metallic foams with varying spatial density distribution as well as material imperfections. The density variation was assumed to follow a statistical probability distribution of the Gaussian type. A multiple cell finite element model, utilising the modified unit cell, was developed. The model exhibits deformation patterns similar to those observed in tensile testing. The nominal stress-strain curve obtained from quasistatic tensile of the foam was compared with experimental findings and was found to be in good agreement in the scheme of maximum strength only if the appropriate density distribution and volume fraction of internal imperfections are taken into account. Moreover, maximum tensile strength of the aluminium foam was found to be more sensitive to the volume fraction of imperfection than standard deviation of the density.

An Iterative Normalization Algorithm for cDNA Microarray Medical Data Analysis

  • A cDNA microarray experiment is one of the most useful high-throughput experiments in medical informatics for monitoring gene expression levels. Statistical analysis with a cDNA microarray medical data requires a normalization procedure to reduce the systematic errors that are impossible to control by the experimental conditions. Despite the variety of normalization methods, this. paper suggests a more general and synthetic normalization algorithm with a control gene set based on previous studies of normalization. Iterative normalization method was used to select and include a new control gene set among the whole genes iteratively at every step of the normalization calculation initiated with the housekeeping genes. The objective of this iterative normalization was to maintain the pattern of the original data and to keep the gene expression levels stable. Spatial plots, M&A (ratio and average values of the intensity) plots and box plots showed a convergence to zero of the mean across all genes graphically after applying our iterative normalization. The practicability of the algorithm was demonstrated by applying our method to the data for the human photo aging study.

  • Recently, many research works are focusing on DVC (Distributed Video Coding) system for low complexity encoder. However the feedback channel-based parity bit control is a major cause of the high decoding time latency. Spatial and temporal correlation is high in video and, therefore, the statistical property can be applied for the parity bit request of LDPCA frame. By introducing frame adaptive parity bit request estimation method, this paper proposes a new method for reducing the decoding time latency. Through computer simulations, it is shown that the proposed method achieves about 80% of complexity reduction, compared to the conventional no-estimation method.

  • Reliability analysis based on fracture mechanics requires knowledge of the on statistical parameters m and C in the fatigue crack growth law $da/dN=C({\Delta}K)^m$. The purpose of the present study is to investigate if it is possible to explain the change of parameter m by the fluctuation of C only. In this study, we apply the Paris-Erdogan law treating the parameter C as random and the parameter m as constant. Fluctuations in crack growth rate are assumed to be dependent only on C. The material resistance to fatigue crack growth(Z=1/C) is treated as a spatially random process, that varies along the crack path. The theoretical crack growth rates at various stress intensity factors are discussed. Additionally, the results of constant ${\Delta}K$ fatigue crack growth tests are reported for the structural steel, SM45C. The experimental data have been analyzed to determine the probability distribution of fatigue crack growth resistanc.

Research on the relationship between the thermal characteristics and the type of land cover in Beijing urban area by ASTER data

  • The study utilizes remote sensing as the main monitoring means. With different spatial high-resolution, multichannel ASTER remote sensing image as the main information in Beijing city zone; with regional border and statistical data as auxiliary factor a study between the thermal space distribution character and the underground medium is analyzed based on the GIS logical algorithm and synthetic analysis technology. Results show thermal forming mechanism and the rule of distribution is mainly related to the underground medium and the change of the city distribution. Different underground medium has different degree and intensity influence on the thermal space distribution. Furthermore, urban greenbelt and water areas can reduce the thermal effect and large-scale greenbelt creates green island effect. In addition, Road net, residential area, population density, heat resources and so on have some positive effect on the thermal distribution, which increase the local temperature and intensity on the other hand. It is important to study the thermal distribution and its related factors, which contributes to the plan, construction and development of the city.

The Improvement of Planning Area Specifying Method for Rational Rational Rural Policy Implementaion (합리적 농촌지역정책 추진을 위한 지역선정방법 개선방안)

  • The objective of this study is by analyzing villages("Ri" units) to specify the proper unit of the area that the rural development policy is suitable for, and to examine whether the current rural development policy considers the characteristics of community and region. The study included twelve districts(in Korean "Eup" or "Myun") and one hundred one villages(in Korean ri) in Poryong-si, Chungchungnam-do. Twelve and fifteen variables are respectively employe for the analysis of Myun`s and Ri`s. Using Factor Analysis, Cluster Analysis, and Z-Score Analysis, the study examines the degree of disadvantage and the process of growth pattern of each Myun or Ri. The Ri`s are also classified according to their functional characteristics. The results of this study could be summarized as follows; 1) There exist some problems in the current rural development policy because it does not take into consideration the characteristics community and region. 2) Except a few distinct of areas, the proper unit of the area for the rural development policy should be set being based on regional characteristics rather than the administrative units. 3) The spatial boundary of rural development policy should be sets from villages(ri) to beyond the unit of administrative units("Si" or "Gun"), according to the village unit analysis. 4) It is needed that community and region data should be consistently accumulated after specifying Standard Statistical Districts. 5) The application of indicators should be in accordance with the characteristics of the policy.

Multiphase turbulence mechanisms identification from consistent analysis of direct numerical simulation data

  • Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) serves as an irreplaceable tool to probe the complexities of multiphase flow and identify turbulent mechanisms that elude conventional experimental measurement techniques. The insights unlocked via its careful analysis can be used to guide the formulation and development of turbulence models used in multiphase computational fluid dynamics simulations of nuclear reactor applications. Here, we perform statistical analyses of DNS bubbly flow data generated by Bolotnov ($Re_{\tau}=400$) and LueTryggvason ($Re_{\tau}=150$), examining single-point statistics of mean and turbulent liquid properties, turbulent kinetic energy budgets, and two-point correlations in space and time. Deformability of the bubble interface is shown to have a dramatic impact on the liquid turbulent stresses and energy budgets. A reduction in temporal and spatial correlations for the streamwise turbulent stress (uu) is also observed at wall-normal distances of $y^+=15$, $y/{\delta}=0.5$, and $y/{\delta}=1.0$. These observations motivate the need for adaptation of length and time scales for bubble-induced turbulence models and serve as guidelines for future analyses of DNS bubbly flow data.

The Effect of Housing Policy on Purchased Public Housing in Seoul (서울시 매입임대주택 거주자 특성 및 정책효과 실증분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the characteristics of residents for purchased public housing in Seoul, using empirical panel data. The scope of the study will be targeted at the Seoul, as of 2017. The research method includes literature review, statistical analysis, and spatial analysis using QGIS software program. The data used in the research is the Panel Survey of Public Housing in Seoul(2017). The main results of the research are briefly summarized as follows; Firstly, Living in a housing with an increased area compared to the previous housing. Secondly, they can live for a long time with low rent. The burden on housing costs is 71.8% in the case of the deposit. Thirdly, there is little concern about social stigma. Purchased public housing was found to be good in terms of stigmatization due to low-income clusters. Lastly, the accessibility in the city center was good condition. In particular, commuting time was 34.79 minutes on a one-way basis, saving about 4 minutes compared to other types of public housing.
