  • Recently, there has been much interest in the spatial query which energy-efficiently acquires sensor readings from sensor nodes inside specified geographical area of interests. The centralized approach which performs the spatial query at a server after acquiring all sensor readings, though simple, it incurs high wireless transmission cost in accessing all sensor nodes. In order to remove the high wireless transmission cost, various in-network spatial indexing schemes have been proposed. They have focused on reducing the transmission cost by performing distributed spatial filtering on sensor nodes. However, these in-network spatial indexing schemes have a problem which cannot optimize both the spatial filtering and the wireless routing among sensor nodes, because these schemes have been developed by simply applying the existing spatial indexing schemes into the in-network environment. Therefore, we propose a new distributed spatial indexing scheme of the GR-tree. The GR-tree which form s a MBR-based tree structure, can reduce the wireless transmission cost by optimizing both the efficient spatial filtering and the wireless routing. Finally, we compare the existing spatial indexing scheme through extensive experiments and clarify our approach's distinguished features.

  • As technologies related to sensor network are currently emerging and the use of GeoSensor is increasing along with the development of Internet of Things (IoT) technology, spatial query processing systems to efficiently process spatial sensor data are being actively studied. However, existing spatial query processing systems do not support a spatial-temporal data type and a spatial-temporal operator for processing spatialtemporal sensor data. Therefore, they are inadequate for processing spatial-temporal sensor data like GeoSensor. Accordingly, this paper developed a spatial-temporal query processing system, for efficient spatial-temporal query processing of spatial-temporal sensor data in a sensor network. Lastly, this paper verified the utility of System through a scenario, and proved that this system's performance is better than existing systems through performance assessment of performance time and memory usage.

  • Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) provide a promising approach to monitor the physical environments, to prolong the network lifetime by exploiting the mutual correlation among sensor readings has become a research focus. In this paper, we design a hierarchical network framework which guarantees layered-compression. Meanwhile, a data sorting-based adaptive spatial compression scheme (DS-ASCS) is proposed to explore the spatial correlation among signals. The proposed scheme reduces the amount of data transmissions and alleviates the network congestion. It also obtains high compression performance by sorting original sensor readings and selectively discarding the small coefficients in transformed matrix. Moreover, the compression ratio of this scheme varies according to the correlation among signals and the value of adaptive threshold, so the proposed scheme is adaptive to various deploying environments. Finally, the simulation results show that the energy of sorted data is more concentrated than the unsorted data, and the proposed scheme achieves higher reconstruction precision and compression ratio as compared with other spatial compression schemes.

  • For supporting LBS service, recent studies on spatial network databases (SNDB) have been done actively. In order to gain good performance on query processing in SNDB, we, in this paper. design efficient storage and index structures for spatial network data, point of interests (POIs), and moving objects on spatial networks. First, we design a spatial network file organization for maintaining the spatial network data itself consisting of both node and edges. Secondly, we design a POI storage and index structure which is used for gaining fast accesses to POIs, like restaurant, hotel, and gas station. Thirdly, we design a signature-based storage and index structure for efficiently maintaining past, current, and expected future trajectory information of moving objects. Finally, we show that the storage and index structures designed in this paper outperform the existing storage structures for spatial networks as well as the conventional trajectory index structures for moving objects.

  • Recently, the query processing algorithm in the field of spatial network database(SNDB) has been attracted by many Interests. But, there is little research on route-based queries. Since the moving objects move only in spatial networks, the efficient route-based query processing algorithms, like in-route nearest neighbor(IRNN), are essential for Location-based Service(LBS) and Telematics application. However, the existing IRNN query processing algorithm has a problem that it does not consider traffic jams in the road network. In this thesis, we propose an IRNN query processing algorithm which considers space restriction. Finally, we show that space-constrained IRNN query processing algorithm is efficient compared with the existing IRNN algorithm.

  • The purpose of this study is to present a method to provide environment information based on spatial information document. At present, a lot of spatial information, including environment information, is being produced, but separate software or system is required for the user to acquire the information. In particular, in the case of environment information, various types of information are being produced, such as ecology, vegetation and measurement network data. Therefore, it is necessary to present the form and the making method of spatial information document that allows using environment information as spatial information without separate software or system. To provide spatial information document-based environment information, types and forms of environment information, data format and offering methods produced by the government, in particular, the Ministry of Environment and the local governments, are analyzed. 12 fields are classified and the form of produced data is GIS DB, measurement network data, text data and so on. With decrease of paper maps, spatial information document that offers display by layer, coordinate data, attribute data, distance and area measurement, location search by coordinates, GPS location linkage and location display on the map is presented to increase utilization of geo-environment information maps. Finally, the standard document specification based on spatial information document is presented in consideration of usability and readability in order to provide a variety of environment information without separate software or system.

  • National Geographic Information System(NGIS) should be designed on the assumption that geographic data collected by each national organization should be integrated into geographic database systemically. To achieve this object, NGIS database would be better connected to National Very High-Speed Communication Network. In the process of research, some problems related to Korean NGIS are found. These are standardization, compatibility, extension, issue of making and opening digital map, and issue related to land information. So, it is required that pilot project apply National Geographic Information System in terms of National Very High-Speed computer network project. This project is to contain two main theme building of physical network and special management of network which is related with NGIS.

  • IEEE 802.11ax is a protocol being developed for high-density Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN). Several algorithms have been proposed to improve the level of spatial reuse applied in IEEE 802.11ax. However, these algorithms are tentative and do not specify how to select the transmit power and carrier sense threshold in practice; It is unclear when and why the tuned parameters lead to better network performance. In this paper, we restricted the scale of transmit power tuning to prevent the case of backfire in which spatial reuse will result in transmission failure. If the restrictions cannot be satisfied, spatial reuse will be abandoned. This is why we named the proposed scheme as Arbitration based Spatial Reuse (ASR). We quantified the network performance after spatial reuse, and formulate a corresponding maximum problem whose solution is the optimal carrier sense threshold and transmit power. We verified our theoretical analysis by simulation and compared it with previous studies, and the results show that ASR improves the throughput up to 8.6% compared with 802.11ax. ASR can avoid failure of spatial reuse, while the spatial reuse failure rate of existing schemes can up to 36%. To use the ASR scheme in practice, we investigate the relation between the optimal carrier sense threshold and transmit power. Based on the relations got from ASR, the proposed Relation based Spatial Reuse (RSR) scheme can get a satisfactory performance by using only the interference perceived and the previously found relations.

  • The Purpose of this study is the applicaion of social network analysis for expanding the use of spatial data in local government. Spatial data generated from UIS projects play very important roles as a means of supporting decision making and solving complicated urban problems, but the utilization of the spatial data has not reach the expected level, considering to the huge amount of investment. Accordingly, there should be efforts in efficient management of spatial data, establishment of a sharing system, and expanded utilization of spatial data. Social network analysis applied to this research is a theory that explains the behaviors and patterns of units forming the system and measures distances between nodes, strength, etc. based on relations among nodes forming the network and the structural characteristics of the network. According to the results of surveying civil servants who were using spatial data on Busan Metropolitan City, obstacles to the sharing of spatial data were mostly non technical factors related to data users' attitude and their relations with circumstances. In order to expand the use of spatial data, this study performed social network analysis that applied the theory of planned behavior and examined the flow of spatial data, and by doing so, we analyzed related personnel's perception, identified obstacles to data sharing, and suggested a framework for promoting the expanded utilization of spatial data.
