  • Since demand for location-based services increases and the relevant service becomes more diverse, the use of POI (Point of Interest) is being required in various fields. Various roles of POI for display, search and inquiry exist, but the implementation and expression of such roles are partially limited. Therefore, the data model for implementation is suggested in this paper to enable practical implementation, expression and inquiry of POI data. The data model was developed based on 3 roles of POI including search, expression and linkage, and especially, the spatial relationship between POI objects which was not suggested in previous data models is considered and time series scheme is suggested to enable various expressions and inquiries in application services.

  • Multi-way spatial join is a nested expression of two or more spatial joins. It costs much to process multi-way spatial join, but there have not still reported the scheme of parallel processing of multi-way spatial join. In this paper, parallel processing of multi-way spatial join consists of parallel multi-way spatial filter and parallel spatial refinement. Parallel spatial refinement is executed by the following two steps. The first is the generation of a graph used for reducing duplication of both spatial objects and spatial operations from pairs candidate object table that are the results of multi-way spatial filter. The second is the parallel spatial refinement using that graph. Refinement using the graph is proved to be more efficient than the others. In task creation for parallel refinement, minimum duplication partitioning of the Spatial_Obicct_On_Node graph shows best performance.

  • For the useful method capable of modern expression on traditional residence architecture, a study was performed on the methodological establishment and possibility of typological method could be examinated to interior design process by typological method. First of all, through the establishment verbal of our Korean traditional architecture and further investigation of environmental and cultural idealogical facts, it could be extracted from natural instinct, duality, continuance, flexibility and transitiov. In second process, based on these results, it could be framed and described the individual typological language and, for the sake of drawing for visual and spatial typology, it was made by sketch in terms and view of possibile guidance of prototype, transforming and application method. from these results of investigated sketches, it cold be used for criteria of application method as the parts of visual and spatial typological elements to have an applicable expression of it/s traditionality. Based on above facts, for the subjects of spatial system, form & shape system, circulation system, order system, decoration system, color & material system in interior design fields, we cold propose the practical possibility through the consideration of application method for built-in meaning that could be adaptable for the interior design practices. These facts were extracted from the based on visual & spatial typology, as above mentiov. Also, through preparing and suggesting the criteria of evaluation and measurement of design quality , we could propose the applicable methodology for further & basically Korean traditional embodiment.

  • I propose a framework for detecting, recognizing and classifying facial features based on learned expression patterns. The framework recognizes facial expressions by using PCA and expression HMM(EHMM) which is Hidden Markov Model (HMM) approach to represent the spatial information and the temporal dynamics of the time varying visual expression patterns. Because the low level spatial feature extraction is fused with the temporal analysis, a unified spatio-temporal approach of HMM to common detection, tracking and classification problems is effective. The proposed recognition framework is accomplished by applying posterior probability between current visual observations and previous visual evidences. Consequently, the framework shows accurate and robust results of recognition on as well simple expressions as basic 6 facial feature patterns. The method allows us to perform a set of important tasks such as facial-expression recognition, HCI and key-frame extraction.

  • This study examines attributes and expression characteristics of 'Mix & Match' which is one of the major current trends in interior designs. The concept and background of 'Mix & Match' was ascertained through research of previous documents and studies, and its attributes were explored. In order to examine the expression characteristics to see how they are expressed in actual interior designs, case analyses were carried out centering on the expression elements such as material, light & lighting, color, furniture and objects which were regarded as important in previous studies and related articles so far. The case analyses were carried out for works where the concept of 'Mix & Match' was prominent in designs produced in 2007 and 2008, chosen from the main reports of the representative interior design journals, 'Interiors' and 'INTERNI & Decor'. As a result, it has been found that 'Mix & Match' is not limited to one attribute but the temporal, spatial and genre attributes are present all at the same time, or various expression elements exist in one attribute. This is a distinct character commonly shown in most of the cases and each expression element is expressed in variety according to spatial concept, from a simple parallel to substitution, transfer and modification (simplification, transformation of the scale, rate modification etc.) Therefore, in creating the space for 'Mix & Match' or in interpretation of it, the understanding of these expression characteristics would make it possible for clearer and more various applications of design, and furthermore will be meaningful for supply and accumulation of reference in design communication.

  • A kink due to the lasing of the first transverse mode in laser diodes is investigated using rate equations based on the spatial hole burning model. An analytic expression for the kink power is derived and the result agrees well with experimental results. It is also shown that the position of a kink can be identified in the electrical derivative characteristics as well as in light output vs, current characteristics.

  • Different proliferation of neuroblast 6-4 (NB6-4) in the thorax and abdomen produces segmental specific expression pattern of several neuroblast marker genes. NB6-4 is divided to form four medialmost cell body glia (MM-CBG) per segment in thorax and two MM-CBG per segment in abdomen. As homeotic genes determine the identities of embryonic segments along the A/P axis, we investigated if temporal and specific expression of homeotic genes affects MM-CBG patterns in thorax and abdomen. A Ubx loss-of-function mutation was found to hardly affect MM-CBG formation, whereas abd-A and Abd-B caused the transformation of abdominal MM-CBG to their thoracic counterparts. On the other hand, gain-of-function mutants of Ubx, abd-A and Abd-B genes reduced the number of thoracic MM-CBG, indicating that thoracic MM-CBG resembled abdominal MM-CBG. However, mutations in Polycomb group (PcG) genes, which are negative transregulators of homeotic genes, did not cause the thoracic to abdominal MM-CBG pattern transformation although the number of MM-CBG in a few percent of embryos were partially reduced or abnormally patterned. Our results indicate that temporal and spatial expression of the homeotic genes is important to determine segmental-specificity of NB6-4 daughter cells along the anterior-posterior (A/P) axis.

  • This paper proposes a geospatial data visualization system supporting validation of GML documents. GIS systems manage and use both of spatial and non-spatial data. Currently, most GIS systems represent spatial data in GML (Geography Markup Language) developed by OGC. GML is a language for representation and sharing of spatial information, and until now many systems have been developed in GML. GML does not support expression of non-spatial data, i.e., relational information of spatial objects, and thus most systems extend GML to describe non-spatial information. However, it causes an issue that the systems only accepting standard GML documents cannot process the extended documents. In this paper, we propose a new GIS data visualization system to resolve the aforementioned Issue. Our proposed system allows the representation of both types of data supporting independency of spatial data and non-spatial data. It enhances interoperability with other relevant systems. Therefore, we can develop a rich and high Quality geospatial information services.

  • This study analyzed contextual expression types in modern fashion show space derived from the architecture based on Pepper's Contextualism. Pepper's Contextualism theory was applied to fashion showcases of the world's four largest collections from 2010 to 2020 by analyzing contextual expression in architecture, resulting in six contextual expression types. The first type was natural environmental contextual expression in which a modern fashion was fused with the natural environment using the natural environment's context. The second type was a temporal contextual expression expressed by blending the theme of a fashion show and an artificial environment that could express past, present, and future issues. The third type was a spatial contextual expression that extended in a flat or three-dimensional direction. This expression could connect with customers in the field. The fourth type was an associative contextual expression that could formally present the theme of a fashion show or a designer's inspiration by borrowing a specific place. The fifth type was an ideological contextual expression that could express a designer's concept or value through a fashion show's design. The sixth type was a contextual communication expression that could allow viewers to immerse themselves in the space of a fashion show venue mentally through a morphological or virtual technique and experience a fashion show.
