  • In North Korea, there has been the considerable loss of human lives every yew due to the deficiency of foods. Thus, in order to reduce such damages, a research project should be launched to provide various information for cooperation with North Korean government, and to develop proper agricultural management system. Furthermore, based on the water resources information map generated by KOWACO (Korea Water Resources Corporation) and the environmental information system developed by MOE (Ministry of Environment), an agricultural information infrastructure of North Korea and a management system need to be effectively performed. Therefore, this research is mainly to develop the Agricultural Information Management System of North Korea (NKAIMS), which can collect, manage and analyze agricultural information and water resources utilization status of North Korea, and further support to make relevant decisions and establish the agricultural land-use plans. This research has three phases. The major outcome of the first phase is collecting the agricultural and water resources utilization data such as soils, rivers, streams, collective farms, etc., designing and building database, and developing integrated management system considering the users' requirements. The main work of the second phase is improving and reinforcing database such as adding the information of dams, land-over data, bridges, tunnels, satellite images, etc., inspecting and renewing such as importing detail attribute information of reservoirs, and improving system for more conveniently using. The third phase will be to supplement more useful functions such as statistic analysis, continually inspecting and improving database, and developing web-based system. The product of this research supports collecting and analyzing relevant data to facilitate easier agricultural activities and support effective decision making for food production in the preparation of unification. Moreover, through designing database considering sharing information and system expendability, it can support systematic data usability of agricultural information and save cost for data management.

  • GIS Tools is able to not only store the integrated information between attribute data and spatial data, but also analyze them. Most of GIS Tools support current information of land. However, lawsuit of right of possession as well as statistic of past data for land policy may need historical information. Therefore, in the paper, we designed the spatiotemporal operators what can handle the historical information. and implemented them. The spatiotemporal operators are used in the history management system of Cadastre and Cadastral map based on GIS. The historical information is generated in spatial operation of spatiotemporal operators and then the implemented operators provide a function to store the historical information, and handle them.

  • AMobile-supported spatial database systems have been introduced with development of mobile computing technology, they offer an advantage that we can access the data wherever we are. However, the studies on database system in traditional distributed environments must be reconsidered again, because of characteristics of mobile database system such as mobility and instability of wireless network. A new transaction model should be required for considering the characteristics, since especially a mobile computing environment is location-dependent, compared with the location transparency in a distributed computing environment. In other aspect, normally mobile host may be moving not in all space, but in some limited path. That is, a host is moving along the roads or the geographical features adjacent to the roads. The transaction processing should be considered not on the spatial coordinate but on the geographical features. In this paper, the feature based transaction processing model is proposed to process location-dependent transaction efficiently.

  • Geographic information system (GIS) is being increasingly used for decision making, planning and agricultural environment management because of its analytical capacity. GIS and remote sensing have been combined with environmental models for many agricultural applications on monitoring of soils, agricultural water quality, microbial activity, vegetation and aquatic insect distribution. This paper introduce principles, vegetation indices, spatial data structure, spatial analysis of GIS and remote sensing in agricultural applications including terrain analysis, soil erosion, and runoff potential. National Academy of Agricultural Science (NAAS), Rural Development Administration (RDA) has a spatial database of agricultural soils, surface and underground water, weeds, aquatic insect, and climate data, and established a web-GIS system providing spatial and temporal variability of agricultural environment information since 2007. GIS-based interactive mapping system would encourage researchers and students to widely utilize spatial information on their studies with regard to agricultural and environmental problem solving combined with other national GIS database. GIS and remote sensing will play an important role to support and make decisions from a national level of conservation and protection to a farm level of management practice in the near future.

  • The intention of this study is to construct the spatial database and to extract attribute data which are able to complete the omitted data in the topographical map or completion map of construction using the image data of various form such as artificial satellite images, aerial photographs, terrestrial photographs and so on. This study used the single frame images only for the raw image data, supposing the case of rigorous photogrammetric method is not available or rapid acquisition of information is need. The extracted spatial and attribute data from the images are used for modifying and updating the database, and for providing visual effect useful for guide and management of the facilities. This study intended to develop the technique able to apply in the case where comparative high accuracy is not required or rapid modification is necessary, and to verify the possibility of editing and updating the digital map using the photographs or video images remained as old data. Many of previous research on the management system for university facility has been accomplished focusing on the design and construction of database itself. Otherwise, this study aimed for the construction of guide and management system based on compiling the digital map of present state using multi-imagery, and the more applicability was intended too.

  • As it is being changed to information society with high economic development, every kind of work is being specialized and diversified in the aspects of quantity and quality. Therefore, Geo-Spatial Information System (GSIS) is getting more important because it can integrate the attribute, the image and the written data of objects including the site one. The purpose of GSIS is to integrate such geo-spatial data as the situation of public facilities, land uses and its sketch and statistics which are scattered in every administration department. Additionally, GSIS can make users get the goo-spatial information easily through computer, and can also do it worthier. An integrated management system of transportation data is needed to improve the efficiency of road-related operations. This can be accomplished by analysing various operation about road management and the utilization of base maps. Thus, in this study, effective road facility information management system based on GSIS database was developed for the management of various types of drawings and data using in various tasks.

  • This study attempts at building an integrated GIS computing framework for evaluating space-time accessibility of an individual with the approach of time geography model. The proposed method is based on the integration of mobile GIS and object-relational spatio-temporal database. Three components are central to our system: ( i ) mobile GIS application that transmits spatio-temporal trajectory data of an individual; ( ii ) spatio-temporal database server that incorporates the time geography model; and (iii) geovisualization client that provides time geographic queries to the spatio-temporal database. As for the mobile GIS application, spatio-temporal trajectory data collected by GPS-PDA client is automatically transmitted to the database server through mobile data management middleware. The spatio-temporal database server implemented by extending a generic DBMS provides spatio-temporal objects, functions and query languages. The geovisualization client illustrates 3D visual results of the queries about space-time path. space-time prism and space-time accessibility. This study shows a method of integrating mobile GIS and DBMS for time geography application, and presents an appropriate spatio-temporal data model for evaluating space-time accessibility of an individual.
