This paper was studied on the explosion hazard by spark discharge of the lithium-ion battery. The experimental samples were chosen lithium-ion battery(general, notebook) which were used for source of portable equipment. The IEC(International Electrotechnical Commission) type spark ignition test apparatus and experimental gases such as methane, propane, ethylene or hydrogen were used for explosiveness test. It was confirmed through the experiment that the explosion hazard by spark discharge. Also, it was used thermal imager for confirm that spontaneous ignition possibility by short-circuit. As the result, this paper verified that lithium-ion battery should be used and designed by special attention safety in the hazardous zone which is existed explosiveness gas.
This paper concerns the prediction of railway noise propagation using scale model experiment in acoustics. In order to make acoustical experiment the digital signal processing technique are applied and spark discharge sound sources have been developed in which impulse response measured in 1/20 scale model railway. In the case of scale model experiment, it is difficult to realize sufficiently small size and directivity and to get sufficient sound energy and to get repeatability. Several type of Spark discharge sound source is made in laboratory. Experiment results are compared with the calculated results by the prediction model. As the results, it was found that railway noise could be predicted in acoustical scale model experiment using spark discharge sound source.

The cyclic variations can be characterized by the variations in different type of parameters. These parameters may be grouped into four main categories: pressure-related parameters, combustion-related parameters, flame front-related parameters, and exhaust gas-related parameters. One of the resultant effects of the cycle-by-cycle variation in the combustion process, which is the most important with regard to the engine performance characteristics, is the cycle-by-cycle variation in IMEP. This paper uses the repetitive discharge igniter, which can change the ignition energy easily, to study on idle stability in a spark ignition engine. From this device, the 6 number of spark and 0.20 ms spark interval, it is very available for the idle stability.
To study the relationship between spark ignition and the gap in the nano-scale region, the electric potential was applied to between a Pt-Ir tip and a gold substrate. The tip was sharpened by electro-chemical etching process in the solution of $CaCl_2;H_2O$ and acetone. The radius of tip was measured to be around 200nm and attached to the scanning probe microscope to control the gap between the tip and the substrate. The electric potential of 10V to 80V was applied to initialize the spark. The gaps and the current profile were measured to analyze the characteristics of spark ignition. A spark sustaining time was measured to be between 50ns and 200ns depending on the applied electric potential and the gap between the electrodes. The continuous electric discharge was successfully sustained up to 1 second of spark or arc time. The developed process can be applicable to the micro-scale fabrication of automotive sensors as a similar concept of GTAW.

Time-resolved current and voltage measurements for an inductive automotive spark system were made. Also presented are measurements of the total energy delivered to the spark gap. The measurements were made in air for a range of pressures from 1-18atm, at ambient temperatures. The measured voltage and current characteristics were found to be a function of many ignition parameters; some of these include: spark gap distance, internal resistance of the spark plug and high tension wire, and pressure. The voltages presented were measured either at the top of the spark plug or at the spark gap. The measurements were made at different time resolutions to more accurately resolve the voltage and current behavior throughout the discharge process. This was necessary because the breakdown event occurs on a time scale much shorter than the arc and glow phases. The breakdown, are, and glow voltages were found to be functions of spark plug resistance, gas density, and spark plug gap as expected from the literature. Spark duration was found to decrease as either pressure or gap was increased. The transition from the arc to glow phase is usually distinguished by a sudden rise in the voltage across the gap. At pressures above about 7atm this transition was not observed suggesting that a glow phase was not present. Energy delivered to the gap increased with increasing pressure. The effective resistance of the spark gap during discharge was about twice as large for the glow phase as the arc phase.

From the experimental study of wire-cut Electric Discharge Machining of alloyed tool steel and tungsten carbide, the characteristics such as cutting speed, surface roughness has been observed and evaluated for various conditions. Cutting speed is improved as peak discharge current and wire tension become increased, and gap voltage and spark cycle decreased. Surface roughness can be better when peak discharge current and gap voltage become smaller, or spark cycle and wire tension become larger. Secondary cut is recommended to obtain high precision and good quality.

This paper describes a technique that can predict electric fires by detecting a spark signal generated from operation of electric facilities. An electric fire lead a loss of life as well as huge property, therefore it is very Important to predict an electric fire and eliminate the causes of it. Electrical spark which is ranked as majority causes of electric fires has a characterized frequency bandwidthdistinguishedfrompowerfrequenry. In the experiment, various spark signals are simulated in a condition such as short circuit, flashover and surface discharge. The results showed that the monitoring of spark signals can predict electric fires.
When a insulator plate is inserted to the discharge path of a space discharge gap in which the field strength is not uniform, the spark voltage under the atmospheric pressure between the electrodes decreases or rises according to the position of the insulating plate. Also it is reported that if a metallic barrier plate is inserted to the discharge path of the same space discharge gap, similar variations of spark voltage are found. Speaking briefly, mensioned above are the spark voltage characteristics when an insulator or metallic barrier is inserted to the space discharge gap. Also some experimental results, concerning to the surface creepage flash over characteristics at the case when an insulator barrier is inserted to the discharge path of a surface creepage discharge gap, were reported by Peek. But up to now there are no reports on surface flash over voltage characteristics at the case when a metallic barrier is inserted to the surface creepage gap. In this study the effects of a conducting metallic barrier inserted to the path of a surface creepage discharge gap on the flash over voltage characteristics are investigated theoretically and experimentally, and got some important results, clearing the effects of the position and width of a conducting barrier is inserted, the surface flash over voltage characteristics appear as an Inverse N or W Characteristics. Such theoretical or experimental results may have some relation not only with the effects of dry belt and snow on suspension insulators, but also with the effects of dirty zone or water drops on the surface creepage flash over voltage.
Triggering characteristics of a trigatron spark gap have been studied by measuring self-emission UV light. By combining the measurement of the UV light with that of the trigger gap voltage and the lain discharge current, we distinguished clearly the differences between the trigatron operations in which the lain discharge occurs after the trigger discharge in the case of sale polarity between the trigger pin and the lain electrode at the opposite side, and the lain gap breakdown takes place before the formation of the trigger spark in the case of different polarity. We show the observation of UV radiation with the other electromagnetic measurements is a simple and reliable scheme to investigate the triggering properties of the trigatron spark gaps.

This paper reviews about synthesis of nanoparticles by spark discharge and applications. A method of catalytic activation with Pd and Pt aerosol nanoparticles produced by spark discharge was introduced. After annealing, the catalytically activated substrate placed into a solution for electroless silver deposition. The silver was then formed only on the activated regions of the substrate. Silver line patterns having a width of $18{\mu}m$ and a height of $1{\mu}m$ were created with the ability to be effectively reproduced. Antimicrobial nanoparticles such as silver were used for removal of bioaerosols. Silver nanoparticles deposited air filters such as ACF filters were evaluated by antimicrobial test.
