  • This paper analyzes the relation between fire shutters and fire spread by conducting fire simulation on inner space with fire shutters. Using Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS), a commercial fire simulation software, the simulation is done on an ideal inner robby, where fire size and the open/close of fire shutters are varied. Our simulation environment can derive significant fire parameters such as temperature variation of fire room walls and entrances of refuge stairs, variation of carbon dioxide, and soot spread. According to the simulation results, temperature and carbon dioxide distribution in refuge stairs have little dependence on vent open or close, but the part close of fire shutters blocks soot inflow to refuge stairs.

  • A new method to obtain approximate solutions by placing the only poles of the slow subsystem for the two-time-scale aircraft dynamic systems. The two kinds of approximate solutions are obtained by a matrix block diagonalization. One is called the uncorrected solution, and the other is called the corrected solution. The former has an error of $O({\varepsilon})$, and the latter has an error of $O({\varepsilon}^2)$. Of course, both solutions are robust enough even though they are reduced solutions. The excellence of the proposed method is illustrated by an numerical example of an aircraft longitudinal dynamics.

  • In a hard disk drive (HDD) control system, a state-space controller/observer design is popularly adopted fur its advantages such as effective filtering of position and velocity, use of estimation error to handle servo defects, etc. In this report, a systematic method is proposed to accommodate the transport delay in the plant dynamics into the state estimator. • This paper aims to propose new reentry guidance for Korean Space plane (KSP). Similar to the Space Shuttle guidance concept, a reference drag profile is first determined to satisfy several flight path constraints and boundary conditions, and the proposed guidance commands are realized in a way to track the predetermined reference drag profile. To this end, the drag dynamics is examined. The investigation uncovers that the dynamics characteristics of the drag and the flight path angle are considerably different. Based on this fact, the proposed guidance commands are determined using the time-scale separation technique and the feedback linearization methodology. The key feature of the proposed guidance lies in its simple structure and a clear working mechanism. Therefore, the proposed method is simple to implement compared to existing methods. Numerical simulations are performed to investigate the performance of the proposed method.

  • Large aperture antennas with long focal lengths in space have important application for telecommunications, Earth observation and science missions. This paper aims to understand the dynamics of deployment of large mesh antennas and to provide a multibody model for determining the driving forces for the design of reflectors and booms. The modular deployable reflector and boom are designed based on the deployment unit cell. A multibody dynamic model is formulated with Kane's equation and simulated using the pseudo upper triangular decomposition (PUTD) method for solving the constrained problem. Based on the multibody dynamic model, the kinetics of the deployment, the motor driving forces, and the structural dynamic deformation are investigated.

  • A multi-variable Golden-Section adaptive controller is proposed for the tracking control of robotic manipulators with unknown dynamics. With a small sample time, the unknown dynamics of the robotic manipulator are denoted equivalently by a characteristic model of a 2-order multivariable time-varying difference equation. The coefficients of the characteristic model change slowly with time and some of their valuable characteristic relationships emerge. Based on the characteristic model, an adaptive algorithm with a simple form for the control of robotic manipulators is presented, which combines the multi-variable Golden-Section adaptive control law with the weighted least squares estimation method. Moreover, a compensation neural network law is incorporated into the designed controller to reduce the influence of the coefficients estimation error on the control performance. The results of the simulations indicate that the developed control scheme is effective in robotic manipulator control.

  • numerical study on the coupled fluid-structure for a rotor blade in hover was conducted. Computational fluid dynamics code with enhanced wake-capturing capability is coupled with a simple structural dynamics code based on Euler-Bernoulli's beam equation. The numerical results show a reasonable blade structural deformation and aerodynamic characteristics.

  • This paper proposes an analytical redundancy technique for fault diagnostics of the sensor in steer-by-wire system. We use incorporating vehicle dynamics modeling into the design of a diagnostic system for steer-by-wire system. The use of a model of vehicle dynamics improves the speed and accuracy of the diagnoses. The proposed fault diagnostics algorithm is based on parity-space methods to generate residuals. To reduce the effects of modeling uncertainty and dynamic transients, the residuals are subject to filtering. We construct diagnostic system consisting residual threshold for detection and isolator with using the directional residual vector.

  • In this paper a novel robust adaptive fuzzy controller for the nonlinear system with state-dependent uncertainty is proposed. The conventional adaptive fuzzy controller determines the function of state variable bounding the state-dependent uncertain term in the system dynamics on the local state space by off-line calculation. Whereas the proposed method determines that function by the fuzzy inference so that it guarantees the stability of the closed loop system globally on the whole state space. In addition, the method is applicable to the multi-input system. We applied the proposed method to the Burn Control of the Tokamak fusion reactor whose dynamics contains the state-dependent uncertainty and proved the effectiveness of the scheme by using the simulation results.
