A New Method for Coronal Force-Free Field Computation That Exactly Implements the Boundary Normal Current Density Condition

  • Previously we developed a method of coronal force-free field construction using vector potentials. In this method, the boundary normal component of the vector potential should be adjusted at every iteration step to implement the boundary normal current density, which is provided by observations. The method was a variational method in the sense that the excessive kinetic energy is removed from the system at every iteration step. The boundary condition imposing the normal current density, however, is not compatible with the variational procedure seeking for the minimum energy state, which is employed by most force-free field solvers currently being used. To resolve this problem, we have developed a totally new method of force-free field construction. Our new method uses a unique magnetic field description using two scalar functions. Our procedure is non-variational and can impose the boundary normal current density exactly. We have tested the new force-free solver for standard Low & Lou fields and Titov-Demoulin flux ropes. Our code excels others in both examples, especially in Titov-Demoulin flux ropes, for which most codes available now yield poor results. Application to a real active region will also be presented.

  • After the "spatial turn" space narrative has become the hottest "doctrine". Howe er, the current space narrative to a bottleneck stage, a variety of reasons. "Spatial turn" of the modern trend of thought has a unshirkable responsibility. Has been, scholars turned to "empty" the complex relationship between space narrative and, type of narrative space narrative theory problem also not too clear by the noun, the term textual research, narrative of space studies provide some of the necessary theoretical support, to promote the healthy de elopment of the research on novel narrative space.

시스템가구를 활용한 실내공간 가변화 연구 (A Study on the flexibility of an interior space utilizing system furniture)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest a new system and standards of system furniture for promoting the efficiency of a l living space in order to cope with any possible change of a resident’s lifestyle. For this purpose, the study premises that the i idea of "flexibility" can provide a solution to problems with the resident’s current living space, and furthermore, it can fulfill the r resident’ s needs of a flexible living space. T To decide the needs of the flexibility of a living space, this paper examined and analyzed sever머 studies on the necessity of t the flexibility of a living space according to changes of one's lifestyle, characteristics and problems of each type of existing f furniture, and applications of each type of system furniture and it's flexibility. The results of this study is as follows: First, a new furniture system is necessary so that a resident can adjust one’s living space. Second, a plan for flexible interior s space can meet a current resident's demand of a flexible living space, not to mention an initial resident's .. Third, a systematic plan is needed to install system furniture in a living space to cope with changes of a resident’s lifestyle.s lifestyle.

SVM 기반 히스테리시스 제어기를 이용한 D-STATCOM 전류 제어에 관한 연구 (A Study on Current Control using a Novel SVM-Based Hysteresis Controller in D-STATCOM)

  • 배전급 STATCOM(Distribution-network STATic synchronous COMpensator)에 적용 가능한 공간 벡터 변조 (Space Vector Modulation, SVM) 기법을 이용한 히스테리시스 전류제어기를 제안하였다. 히스테리시스 전류제어기는 빠른 응답 특성, 쉬운 구현, 파라미터 변화에 대한 둔감성 등 많은 장점에도 불구하고 높은 스위칭 주파수와 제한되지 않는 전류 오차 때문에 스위칭 주파수에 영향을 받는 배전급 STATCOM 전류제어기로는 적합하지 않았다. 또한 전압 벡터의 인가방식에서도 뚜렷한 근거가 없어 전류오차가 제한되지 않았다. 이에 본 논문에서는 구역판별기, SVM, 그리고 외부와 내부 히스테리시스 제어기를 이용하여 높은 스위칭 주파수를 저감하고 특정 밴드 내에서 전류 오차를 줄인 개선된 SVM 기반의 히스테리시스 전류제어기를 제안하고 모의실험을 통해 제안한 기법의 유효성을 입증하였다.

A New Era of Space Shuttle

  • The U.S. Space Shuttle represents the beginning of a new era in transportation and is the critical element in the industrialization of the near-Earth-space. Most of its flights are dedicated to reducing costs launching commercial satellites. However, it provides a microgravity environment for processing unique and improved materials which is generating great interest in both civilian and military sectors. The space shuttle is also the necessary step in establishing a permanent space station which could host materials analysis laboratories and commercial processing facilities. This paper reviews the different elements of the space shuttle transportation system, a typical mission scenario, and discusses current activities in materials processing in space.

  • In this paper in order to evaluat quantitavely the formation mechanism of space charge and its effects on the conduction characteristics in LDPE we have carried out the numerical analysis on the basis of experimental results of space charge distribution cathode field and current with time which had been simultaneously measured at applied field of 50kV/mm and room temperature. As the models for numerical analysis we employ the Richarson-Schottky theory for charge injection from electrode into LDPE and the band-tail conduction at crystalline regions and the hopping conduction by traps which mainly exist at the interface regions of crystalline-amorphous region for charge transport in LDPE. Futhermore in order to investigate the influence of physical parameters on the time characteristcs of space charge distribution and measured current we have changed the values of trap density activation energies for charge injection and transport and have analyzed their effects.

Real Time Implementation of Active Power Filters for Harmonic Suppression and Reactive Power Compensation using dSPACE DS1104

  • In this paper, an Active Power Filter (APF) is implemented using a dSPACE DS1104 processor to compensate harmonics and reactive power produced by nonlinear load. The reference source current is computed based on the measurement of harmonics in the supply voltage and load current. A hysteresis based current controller has been implemented in a DSP processor for injecting the compensating current into the power system, so that APF allows suppression of the harmonics and reactive power component of load current, resulting in a supply current that is purely sinusoidal. Simulation and experimental results of the proposed APF to meet the IEEE-519 standards are presented.

MAGNETIC FLUX-CURRENT SURFACES OF MAGNETOHYDROSTATIC EQUILIBRIA

  • Magnetohydrostatic equilibria, in which the Lorentz force, the plasma pressure force and the gravitational force balance out to zero, are widely adopted as the zeroth order states of many astrophysical plasma structures. A magnetic flux-current surface is a surface, in which both magnetic field lines and current lines lie. We for the first time derive the necessary and sufficient condition for existence of magnetic flux-current surfaces in magnetohydrostatic equilibria. It is also shown that the existence of flux-current surfaces is a necessary (but not sufficient) condition for the ratio of gravity-aligned components of current density and magnetic field to be constant along each field line. However, its necessary and sufficient condition is found to be very restrictive. This finding gives a significant constraint in modeling solar coronal magnetic fields as force-free fields using photospheric magnetic field observations.

  • This paper presents a novel current control system to eliminate the steady state control error and to improve the transient characteristics for PWM AC-DC converter. A general mathematical model of the converter that is represented as a state-space model is first established. The state-space model is used for the simulation of PWM switching converter with the proposed current control system. The proposed sinusoidal tracking control system that does not require coordinate transformations using principle of the integral controller is described. It is proved that the steady state deviation reduces to zero through a transfer function of source current control system. Finally, it is seen that simulations agree with the experimental results in source current and reference of controlled ac current loop.
