  • A two-step alternating direction explicit method is developed to solve the space-dependent reactor kinetics equations in two space dimensions. As a special case in the general class of alternating direction implicit methods, this method is analysed for accuracy and stability. To test the validity of this method it is compared with the implicit-difference method used in the TWIGL program. It is shown that the two methods are closely related. The time dependent neutron fluxes of the pressurized water reactor (PWR), during control rod insertion, and, of the CANDU-PHW reactor, in case of postulated loss of coolant accident, are obtained from the numerical calculation results.

  • In Seowon architecture, there are four kinds of space conditions according to the site plan and the figure of education area. The education area has three main buildings such as Kangdang, Dongjae, Seojae. In case Kangdan locates in front of Dongjae and Seojae(so called Junkangdang-Hoojaesa), but in another case Dongjae and Seojae locates in front of Kangdang(so called Junjaesa-Hookangdang). This four space conditions affect to decide the floor plan and the window & door system of Kangdang. In Junjaesa-Hookangdang type, the front and rear wall has more open system than in Junkangdang-Hoojaesa type. In Junjaesa-Hookangdang type the direction of Kangdang is absolutely open to front education area, but in Junkangdang-Hoojaesa type the direction of Kangdang is absolutely open to rear education area. These floor plan aims at making up education area more closely. In window & door system the rear parts of Junjaesa-Hookangdang type have generally opaque system such as Golpanmoon or Panjangmoon, but Junkangdang-Hoojaesa type breaks this rule in order to emphasize front facade of building.

  • Main findings of this study are as follows. Time-space model of Korea for urban growth model is established. The variables of space model resulted in job and education, which both are significant at 0.01 level and positive. The effect of job and education on the urban growth are 0.76 and 0.29 respectively in average. the determinants for deciding the influences for job variable are income variable and price-level variable. Income variable contributes 68.66% and the direction is negative while contribution of price-level variable is 29.90% and the direction is positive. The determinants for education variable are income, unemployment and wage difference between university graduates and high school graduates. The contribution and the high school graduates. The contribution and the direction of each variable for education variable are 63.6% and positive for the unemployment variable, 15.99% and negative for the income variable and 13.75% and positive for the wage difference variable. This study in different from previous works in three ways. The first is to establish the time-space model which could consider the time and space factor simultaneously. The second is to build data bases which contain the data of almost every city and every year in Korea during the objective period, which make the analysis continuous. The third is that the general analytic framework for the study is macrosocial one rather than a behavioral one, which means the unit of analysis is the metropolitan community and each city occupies population actively through it's potential power such as jobs, education and so on rather than a city population is the passive result of migration.

  • The anisotropic nature of the magnetic turbulence associated with magnetic dipolarizations in the Earth's plasma sheet is examined. Specifically we determine the power spectral indices for the perpendicular and parallel components of the fluctuating magnetic field with respect to the background magnetic field and compare them to determine possible anisotropic features. For this study, we identify a total of 47 dipolarization events from February 2008 using the magnetic field observations by the THEMIS A, D and E satellites when they are situated closely near the neutral sheet in the near-Earth tail. For the identified events, we estimate the spectral indices for the frequency range from 1.3 mHz to 42 mHz. The results show that for many events the spectral indices are larger for fluctuations in the ${\Psi}$ direction than for those in the other two directions, where the ${\Psi}$ direction is perpendicular to the background magnetic field line and to the azimuthal direction. This implies that the dipolarization-associated turbulence of the magnetic field is often anisotropic. We discuss how this result differs from what is expected from the theory of homogeneous, anisotropic, MHD turbulence.

  • In this paper, the recent development trends of civil/military earth observation satellites of space-advanced countries and South Korea are investigated and the current status and the direction of prospective domestic satellite projects is described. The space-advanced countries are the United States, Russia, France, Germany, Italy, Israel, China and Japan. Based on the recent trends, the direction of prospective earth observation satellites is predicted. In general, the term of 'satellite development' usually refers to a concept of satellites, ground stations and launch vehicles consisting a satellite system, but in this paper the term focuses on the development of satellites, not the satellite system.

  • Lunar permanently shadowed regions (PSRs) never see direct sunlight and are illuminated only by secondary illumination - light reflected from nearby topography. The ShadowCam imaging experiment onboard the Korea Pathfinder Lunar Orbiter is acquiring images of these PSRs. We characterize and discuss the nature of secondary illumination for the Shackleton PSR from ShadowCam radiance-calibrated images. We also use modeling to understand the magnitude and direction of the secondary illumination. Results from our analysis highlight the non-homogeneous, dynamic, and complex nature of PSR secondary lighting. Knowledge of the direction of the secondary illumination is crucial for reli-able interpretation of contrasts observed in ShadowCam images. This preliminary analysis of the floor of Shackleton crater from images acquired over multiple secondary illumination conditions does not reveal indications of exposed surface ice, even though temperatures are constantly below 110K.

  • Space geodetic techniques can be used to obtain precise shape and rotation information of the Earth. To achieve this, the representative combination solution of each space geodetic technique has to be produced, and then those solutions need to be combined. In this study, the representative combination solution of very long baseline interferometry (VLBI), which is one of the space geodetic techniques, was produced, and the variations in the position coordinate of each station during 7 years were analyzed. Products from five analysis centers of the International VLBI Service for Geodesy and Astrometry (IVS) were used as the input data, and Bernese 5.0, which is the global navigation satellite system (GNSS) data processing software, was used. The analysis of the coordinate time series for the 43 VLBI stations indicated that the latitude component error was about 15.6 mm, the longitude component error was about 37.7 mm, and the height component error was about 30.9 mm, with respect to the reference frame, International Terrestrial Reference Frame 2008 (ITRF2008). The velocity vector of the 42 stations excluding the YEBES station showed a magnitude difference of 7.3 mm/yr (30.2%) and a direction difference of $13.8^{\circ}$ (3.8%), with respect to ITRF2008. Among these, the 10 stations in Europe showed a magnitude difference of 7.8 mm/yr (30.3%) and a direction difference of $3.7^{\circ}$ (1.0%), while the 14 stations in North America showed a magnitude difference of 2.7 mm/yr (15.8%) and a direction difference of $10.3^{\circ}$ (2.9%).

  • In this paper, to analyze the initial valued non-homogeneous elastic half space by the scaled boundary analysis, the infinite element approach was introduced. The free surface of the initial valued non-homogeneous elastic half space was mode1ed as a circumferential direction of boundary scaled boundary coordinate. The infinite element was used to represent the infinite length of the free surface. The initial value of material property(elastic modulus) was considered by the combination of the position of the sealing center and the power function of the radial direction. By use of the mapping type infinite element, the consistent e1ements formulation could be available. The performance and the feasibility of proposed approach are examined by two numerical examples.

  • The BeiDou is a satellite-based positioning and navigation system, which is under construction by the China Satellite Navigation Office. Until the June of 2014, the constellation of BeiDou navigation satellite system consists of 14 satellites including five geostationary earth orbit (GEO), five inclined geosynchronous earth orbit (IGSO) and four medium earth orbit (MEO). In this paper, we present the positioning results using BeiDou B1 code measurements obtained from three GNSS reference stations (BHAO, SKMA, MKPO). Combined Beidou/GPS positioning results are also compared to BeiDou and GPS only. BeiDou-only positioning errors for the east-west and north-south direction had less than 2 meter with root mean square (RMS) value. However, the positioning error for the up-down direction had larger than 10 meter at a 95% confidence level. Our results also suggest that the position precision is improved by combined BeiDou/GPS compared to BeiDou-only.

  • This paper was applied space harmonic method as a characteristic analysis technique for slotless PMLSM. There is advantages of active response to the change of design parameters as well as reduction of the calculation time. The method can be overcome disadvantages of finite element analysis that needs long times calculation, repetitions of pre and post-process. In this paper, 3D-space harmonic method was applied to consider the precise description of end turn coil shape and the changes of characteristic according to changes of length of z-axis direction. The thrust of optimal design was performed using genetic algorithm to enhance the thrust which is the disadvantage of slotless type PMLSM. For design parameters, width of permanent magnet, width of coil, width of coil inner and lengths of z-axis direction were selected. For objective functions. thrust per weight. thrust per volume. multi-objective function was selected.
