Soyosan is one of the most famous prescription in Oriental Medicine. It was showed for the first time in "Hwajegukbang(和劑局方)", the book of prescriptions, published in Song Dynasty, 1078. However, Soyosan did not include Maekmundong. Heojun as a author, made "Dong-uibogam" in 1613. Soyosan of "Dong-uibogam" had Maekmundong. In this study, I focused on how to get Maekmundong in "Dong-uibogam". Nonetheless, Soyosan originally didn't have Maekmundong. Soyosan and Maekmundong combined easily when Soyosan controlled disease related with Heat[熱]. Therefore, I suggest author or editor might put Maekmundong to Soyosan in "Dong-uibogam".

This study aimed to evaluate the anti-stress effects of soyosan and chyengansoyosan on the contents cold swimming stress.The experimental animals were forced cold swimming stress for 3 minutes, and administered 4㎎/10g of soyosan and chyengansoyosan extract for 7 days before stress. The monoamines contents were measured by HPLC method in various part of mouse brain. The following results were obtained :1. In frontal cortex, the contenrs of norepinephrine ans dopamine increased significantly in the group administered chyrngansoyosan compared with in the group administered non chyengansoyosan and soyosan(control group) of mice stressed by cold swiming.2. In hypothalamus, the content of norepinephrine increased with statistical significance in the group administered soyosan compared with control group of mice stressed by cold swimming. 3. The content of dopamine increased with statistical significance on the group administered chyenfansoyosan and compared with control group of mice stressed by cold swimming in hypothlaamus and hippocampus.4. The content of serotonin increased with statistical significance in the group administered soyosan and compared with control group of mice stressed by cold swimming in hippocampus and corpus striatum.5. In corpus striatum and hippocampus, the content of norepineohrine decreased with statistical significance in the group administered soyosan and chyengandoyosan compared with control group of mice stressed by cold swimming.Judgding from the above results, this sthdy reaches a conclusion that soyosan or chyengansoyosas has significant effects in reducing stress.

1. In Dong-Eui-Bo-Gam, Ondamtng & its Gagambang are applied for the sudden palpitation, epilepsy, the insomnia of exhaustion and an acute convulsion which are caused by the asthenia of heart and gall bladder(心膽虛怯). 2. In Dong-Eui-Bo-Gam, Guibitang & its Gagambang are applied for amnesia, amenorrhea, upper abdominal pain, the itching sign the pubic region, the hernia of the vulva which are caused by the asthenia of heart and spleen(心脾兩虛). 3. In Dong-Eui-Bo-Gam, Soyosan & its Gagambang are applied for epilepsy, the hemorrhage in time of coughing, the intermittent fever, metrorrhagia, various woman's diseases which are caused by the depression of vital energy of liver(肝氣鬱結).

The objective of this paper is to verify clinical effects of Lyu's Soyosan(柳氏逍遙散) and Lyu's Kwipithang(柳氏歸脾湯). They were prescribed to the enperimental student group suffering from mental stress and annoyed by psychological instability. From the biochemical examination before and after medication, we measure the amount of hormonal variation in thyroid hormone(TSH, $T_4$) and adrenocortical hormone(ACTH, cortisol) The results are as follows. 1. The average of self-rating anxiety scale(SAS) in test group is $41.00\;{\pm}\;7.84$. This value is statistical significant and higher than one of normal person(age 20-39). The average of a global assesment of recent stress(GARS) scale is $28.62\;{\pm}9.00$. There is statistical correlation coefficient between SAS and GARS (p < 0.001). 2. Both Lyu's Soyosan(柳氏逍遙散) and Lyu.s Kwipithang (柳氏歸脾湯) groups show statistically significant reduction of total cholesterol and triglyceride level in serum lipid after ten day medication. 3. It is observed that Lyu's Soyisan(柳氏逍遙散) and Luy's Kwipithang (柳氏歸脾湯) groups have increasing tendency of TSH. The statistically significant reduction of $T_4$ was found in two groups after ten day medicaton. 4. It is observed that Lyu's Soyosan(柳氏逍遙散) and Lyu's kwipithang (柳氏歸脾湯) group have statistically significant reduction of serum cortisol level after ten day medication, Both groups have statistically significant reduction of plasma ACTH level after twenty day medication. From these results, it is verified that both Lyu's Soyosan(柳氏逍遙散) and Lyu's Kwipithang (柳氏歸脾湯) have anti-stress effects against psychological instability and mental stress. The Lyu's Soyosn(柳氏逍遙散) shows special effectiveness in depression of liver-energy(肝氣鬱結) and the Lyu's Kwipitang (柳氏歸脾湯) is also effective in deficiency heart-blood(心血不足).

Objective : The purpose of this study is to report the clinical effectiveness of herbal decoction(Samul-tang hap Soyo-san.) on whole body nummular eczema. Method : A patient suffering from nummular eczema received herbal decoction(Samul-tang hap Soyo-san), acupuncture, and electronic-moxibustion treatment. The effectiveness of treatment was evaluated by EASI, DLQI, photography and subjective evaluation of the patient's improvement of symptoms. Results : After treatment, eczema lesions were remarkably improved. Compared to its peak, EASI improved by 69% and DLQI by 53%. According to photo and symptom changes, purulent exudates were stopped and pruritus was decreased. Conclusion : This study suggests that Samul-tang hap Soyo-san could show effectiveness on nummular eczema.
