  • In the present study, the simulation on the annual performance evaluation of a renewable energy systems with fuel cell driven compound source hybrid heat pump systems is applied to the heating and cooling of large community building. The large community building has the economical advantage to apply heat pump cooling and heating systems the long period operation. If air and ground source hybrid heat pump systems are combined, COP of the system can be increased largely. Fuel cell driven compound source hybrid heat pump system can reduced the fuel cost as well as thermal storage tank sharply.

  • The problem of reactivity oscillations for a point reactor constitutes an interesting aspect of nuclear reactor physics and its solution may give important information for dynamic and safety assessments. The present paper considers the problem of a reactivity oscillation for a source-driven system which involves some specific aspects that introduce significant differences with respect to the source-free situation. Assuming a square-wave shape for the reactivity insertion, the solution is derived by a fully analytical approach. The conditions for stability and instability can be identified in a straightforward way by directly studying the stationarity of the power response. Numerical results presented allow to discuss the role of the system kinetic parameters and of the time-shape of the reactivity wave.

  • This paper presents a comprehensive study on the stability of several control schemes for the induction motor driven by current source inverters. A stator voltage-controlled current source inverter drive system without a speed sensor is investigated in order to find appropriate control schemes, which are primarily based on direct or, alternatively, indirect frequency control scheme. The overall control systems with either voltage control loop or current and voltage control loops provided in addition to each frequency control scheme are analyzed by utilizing the root locus method and simulated by computer to illustrate the validity of this analysis.

  • A non-invasive method for ion energy distribution measurement at a RF biased surface is proposed for monitoring the property of ion bombardments in capacitively coupled plasma sources. To obtain the ion energy distribution, the measured electrode voltage is analyzed based on the circuit model which is developed with the linearized sheath capacitance on the assumption that the RF driven sheath behaves like a simple diode for a bias power whose frequency is much lower than the ion plasma frequency. The method is verified by comparing the ion energy distribution function obtained from the proposed model with the experimental result taken from the ion energy analyzer in a dual cathode capacitively coupled plasma source driven by a 100 MHz source power and a 400 kHz bias power.

A stator voltage controlled current source inverter drive system without a speed sensor is investigated in order to find appropriate control schemes, which are primarily based on direct or, alternatively, indirect frequency control scheme. It can be seen, especially that an introduction of the indirect frequency control method improves the inherent instability of the current source inverter drive system for the induction motor. The overall control systems with either voltage control loop or current and voltage control loops in addition to each frequency control scheme, are analyzed by utilizing the root locus method and simulated by computer to show the validity of this analysis.

  • The highly popular algorithm to determine routing path for the multi-hopping wireless sensor network is DSR(Dynamic Source Routing), which is one of the Demand-Driven way to makes the route only when there is a request for sending data. However, because DSR attaches the route's record on the sending packet, the bigger number of sensor node is, the heavier packet in DSR becomes. In this paper, we try to propose the new optimal routing path selecting algorithm which does not make the size of packet bigger by using proper routing table even though the number of sensor node increases, and we try to show our algorithm is more stable and reliable because it is based on the cost function considering some network resources of each sensor node such as power consumption, mobility, traffic in network, distance(hop) between source and destination.

  • Massive binary stars lose mass by two mechanisms: jet-driven mass loss during periods of active mass transfer and by wind-driven mass loss. Beta Lyrae is an eclipsing, semi-detached binary whose state of active mass transfer provides a unique opportunity to study how the evolution of binary systems is affected by jet-driven mass loss. Roche lobe overflow from the primary star feeds the thick accretion disk which almost completely obscures the mass-gaining star. A hot spot predicted to be on the edge of the accretion disk may be the source of beta Lyrae's bipolar outflows. I present results from spectropolarimetric data taken with the University of Wisconsin's Half-Wave Spectropolarimeter and the Flower and Cook Observatory's photoelastic modulating polarimeter instrument which have implications for our current understanding of the system's disk geometry. Using broadband polarimetric analysis, I derive new information about the structure of the disk and the presence and location of a hot spot. These results place constraints on the geometrical distribution of material in beta Lyrae and can help quantify the amount of mass lost from massive interacting binary systems during phases of mass transfer and jet-driven mass loss.

  • This paper proposes a torque control method for surface mounted permanent magnetic synchronous motor (PMSM) driven by a 2-level voltage source driven inverter, which has fast torque response and small torque ripple. The proposed torque control method follows the finite control set model predictive control (FCS-MPC) strategy. A reference state is derived at each time step for the given time varying torque reference and the cost index is defined so that the tracking error for this reference state should be penalized. The choice of an optimal output voltage vector is made first from the 6 possible active voltage vectors of the 2-level voltage source inverter. Then a modulation factor for the chosen optimal voltage vector is obtained so that the torque ripple can be reduced further. It is shown that the proposed FCS-MPC control method yields fast torque tracking response and small torque ripple through simulation and experiments.
