Numerical and experimental studies on a heat pipe with two heat sources have been performed to investigate the operating characteristics. Numerical analysis was performed based on the cylindrical two-dimensional incompressible laminar flow for the vapor space and the conjugate heat transfer for the entire heat pipe. Experimental study with a 0.45 m length copper-water heat pipe was also performed to validate the numerical modeling for the heat input range from 29 W to 47 W on each heater. As results, the temperature profiles at the outer wall for the single active heat source as well as the temperature profiles for the switching operation between two heat sources are suggested. Due to the axial conduction, it is found that the temperature drop between the evaporator and the condenser appears small when the heat source closer to the condenser is turned on. For the switching operation in the present study, the transient time is about 700s and the temperatures at the locations of both heat source are same in 130s after switching.
Studies were conducted to determine the effects of temperature, solute potential and carbon source on the mycelial growth, sclerotia development, and apothecium production of an isolate of Sclerotinia sclerotiorum. Mycelial growth rate was greatest at $25^{\circ}C$ on potato dextrose agar (PDA) medium amended with up to 2% NaCl (${\psi}s{\leq}1.91\;MPa$) and thereafter, growth rate declined. The least number of sclerotia were produced at $20^{\circ}C$on both PDA and malt extract agar (MEA) amended with 8% NaCl (${\psi}s=6.62\;MPa$). With increasing temperature and decreasing solute potential the number and size of sclerotia were significantly reduced. The combined effect of temperature, solute potential and carbon source on sclerotia production were highly significant and had an impact on the development of the rind layer cells of sclerotia. These cells lacked a transparent cell wall which was surrounded by a compact melanized layer, and some of these cells appeared to be devoid of cell contents or were totally vacuolated. The survival of the sclerotia with increase in salinity and temperature appeared to affect melanization and the nature of the rind cells. The observations of this study re-enforces the need for an integrated disease management to control S. sclerotiorum.
Additive manufacturing (AM), so called 3D Printing is a new manufacturing process and is getting attraction from many industries. There are several methods of 3D printing. Among them fused deposition modeling (FDM) type is most widely used by reason of cheap maintenance, easy operation and variety of polymeric materials. Articles manufactured by 3D printing have weak deposition strength compared with conventionally manufactured products. Deposition strength of FDM type 3D printed article is highly dependent of deposition temperature. Subsequently the nozzle temperature in the FDM type 3D printing is very important and it is controlled by heat source in the 3D printer. Nozzle is connected with heat block and barrel, and heat block contains heat source. Nozzle becomes hot through heat conduction from heat source. Nozzle temperature has been predicted for various thermal boundary conditions by computer simulation and compared with experimental measurement. Nozzle temperature highly depends upon thermal conductivities of heat block and nozzle. Simulation results are good agreement with experiment.
In this study, the electrical characteristic of Symmetric high voltage MOSFET (SHVMOSFET) for display driver IC were investigated. Measurement data are taken over range of temperature (300K-400K) and various extended drain length. In high temperature condition(>400K), drain current decreased over 20%, and specific on-resistance increased over 30% in comparison with room temperature.
Marine controlled-source electromagnetic transmitters (MCSETs) are important in marine electromagnetic exploration systems. They play a crucial role in the exploration of solid mineral resources, marine oil, and gas and in marine engineering evaluation. A DC-DC controlled-source circuit is typically used in traditional MCSETs, but using this circuit in MCSETs causes several problems, such as large voltage ringing of the high-frequency diode, heating of the insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) module, high temperature of the high-frequency transformer, loss of the duty cycle, and low transmission efficiency of the controlled-source circuit. This paper presents a clamping-diode circuit for MCSET (CDC-MCSET). Clamping diodes are added to the controlled-source circuit to reduce the loss of the duty ratio and the voltage peak of the high-frequency diode. The temperature of the high-frequency diode, IGBT module, and transformer is decreased, and the service life of these devices is prolonged. The power transmission efficiency of the controlled-source circuit is also improved. Saber simulation and a 20 KW MCSET are used to verify the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed CDC-MCSET.
본 논문에서는 중저온영역에서 복사온도의 전달표준기로 많이 사용되고 있는 TRT2(Transfer Radiation Thermometer 2, HEITRONICS)의 SSE와 자기복사 특성을 측정하였다.
In this study, in order to utilize the seawater as a heat source at Gangneung city near the East Sea in Korea, an annual heating performance of a screw heat pump was simulated. For a simulation, the maximum heating capacity of heat pump was assumed at 3.5 MW. An ambient temperature at Gangneung city was calculated from the TMY2 weather data, while the seawater temperature was calculated from the regression equation based on the measurement by the National Fisheries Research and Development Institute of Korea. The heating load was assumed linearly dependent on the ambient temperature, while the maximum heating load was assumed to appear when the ambient temperature is below $-2.4^{\circ}C$, which is the temperature of TAC 2.5% for heating at Gangneung city. A heat pump performance at full-load was calculated from the regression equation, which involves refrigerant's evaporating and condensing temperatures, based on a commercial screw compressor performance map. A heating supply temperature which determines refrigerant's condensing temperature was assumed linearly dependent on the heating load. A performance degradation due to the part-load operation of heat pump was also considered. Simulation results show that an annual heating coefficient of performance ($COP_H$) of a seawater-source screw heat pump is approximately 2.8 and that it is necessary to improve part-load performance to increase an annual performance of the heat pump.

The Gaussian heat source has been widely used to simulate the heat flux of the welding we, and applied to calculating the temperature distribution of a workpiece. The conventional two-dimensional Gaussian heat source for the GMAW is modified in this work by decomposing the arc heat into heats of the cathode and metal transfer. The efficiency and effective arc radius of each heat source are determined analytically for the free-flight mode such as the globular and spray modes. The temperature distribution and weld geometry are calculated using the finite element method, and distribution of the drop heat is found to have significant effects on the penetration. The predicted results show good agreements with the available experimental results, especially with the penetration.
The sensitivity analysis of two short-term models (ISCST3, INPUFF2.5) is performed to improve the model accuracy. It appears that the sensitivities on the changes of wind speed, stack height and stack inner diameter in the near distance from source, stability and mixing height in the remote distance form source, are significant. Also the gas exit velocity, stack inner diameter, gas temperature and air temperature which affect the plume rise have some effects on the concentration values of each model within the downwind distance where final plume rise is determined. And in modeling for the atmospheric dispersion of point pollutant source INPUFF2.5 can calculate amount, trajectory of puff and concentration versus time at each receptors. So, it is compatible to analyze distribution of point pollutants concentration at modeling area.
