Carbon nanotube emitters, prepared by screen printing, have demonstrated a great potential towards low-cost, largearea field emission displays. Carbon nanotube paste, essential to the screen printing technology, was formulated to exhibit low threshold electric fields as well as an emission uniformity over a large area. Two different types of triode structures, normal gate and undergate, have been investigated, leading us to the optimal structure designing. These carbon nanotube FEDs demonstrated color separation and high brightness over 300 $cd/m^2$ at a video-speed operation of moving images. Our recent developments are discussed in details.

For identification and apportionment of sources emitting particulate matters in environment, the multi-elemental characterization of size-density fractionated particulate matters was carried out. Eight types of samples were tested; soil, flyash released from burning of bunker-Coil, diesel oil, coal, and soft coal, urban road-way dust, urban dust fall, and airborne particulate matter. The fractions of particulate matters obtained by heavy liquid separation methos with a series of dichloromethane-bromoform were then analyzed using atomic absorption spectrophotometry for Ni, Cr, Cu, An, Fe, Al, and Mg. Each sample showed a different concentration profile as a function of density, and a number of useful conclusions concerning characterization of elemental distribution were obtained. From the density distributions of elements in soil, the maximum value was found for all elements in the density range of 2.2 $\sim 2.9g.cm^{-3}$, including the density of $SiO_2$. However, the distribution of metallic compounds with the density lower than $2.2g.cm^{-3}$ was prevalent in urban roadway dust, urban dust fall, and airborne particulate matter. And the density distribution curves of these urban dusts also have the higher distribution at the density of 2.2 - 2.9g.cm^{-3}$, including the density of wind-blown silica. This tendency generally was prevalent in the natural source elements, such as Al, Fe, Mn, and Mg. The maximum values were found in the density ranges of 1.3 $\sim 2.2g.cm^{-3}$ from the density distribution of elements in oil fired flyash. These distributions of anthropogenic source elements, such as Zn, Ni, Cu, and Cr were higher predominately than those of natural source elements. And the higher distribution was found in the density range of $2.2 \sim 2.9g.cm^{-3}$ from the density distribution of elements in coal and soft-coal fired flyash. These distributions showed similar patterns to soil. But anthropogenic source elements somewhat predominated at the density ranges of $1.3 \sim 2.2g.cm{-3} and 2.9g.cm^{-3}$ to soil. Therefore the higher distribution of anthropogenic source elements in the density ranges of $1.3 \sim 2.2g.cm^{-3} and 2.9g.cm^{-3}$ was considered as anthropogenic origin.

Unbalanced and distorted grid voltages cause the grid side current of a current source PWM rectifier to be heavily distorted. They can also cause the DC-link current to fluctuate with a huge amplitude. In order to enhance the performance of a current-source PWM rectifier under unbalanced and harmonic grid voltage conditions, a mathematical model of a current-source PWM rectifier is established and a flexible multi-objective control strategy is proposed to control the DC-link current and grid-current. The fundamental positive/negative sequence, $5^{th}$ and $7^{th}$ order harmonic components of the grid voltage are first separated with the proposed control strategy. The grid current reference are optimized based on three objectives: 1) sinusoidal and symmetrical grid current, 2) sinusoidal grid current and elimination of the DC-current $2^{nd}$ order fluctuations, and 3) elimination of the DC-current $2^{nd}$ and $6^{th}$ order fluctuations. To avoid separation of the grid current components, a multi-frequency proportional-resonant controller is applied to control the fundamental positive/negative sequence, $5^{th}$ and $7^{th}$ order harmonic current. Finally, experimental results verify the effectiveness of proposed control strategy.
Cheese consumption has been gradually increased in China. However, both the manufacturing process of cheese and the utilization of its main by-product were not well developed. Based on the sensory evaluation, Box-Behnken Design (BBD) was performed in the present study to optimize the cheese processing, which was proved more suitable for Chinese. The optimal parameters were: rennet 0.052 g/L, start culture 0.025 g/L and $CaCl_2$ 0.1 g/L. The composition analysis of fresh bovine milk and whey showed that whey contained most of the soluble nutrients of milk, which indicated that whey was a potential resource of cyclic adenosine-3', 5'-monophosphate (cAMP). Thus, the cAMP was isolated from whey, the results of high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis showed that the macroporous adsorption resins (MAR) D290 could increase the concentration of cAMP from $0.058{\mu}mol/mL$ to $0.095{\mu}mol/mL$. We firstly purified the cAMP from the whey, which could become a new source of cAMP.
Even though current microlensing follow-up observations focus on high-magnification events due to the high efficiency of planet detection, it is very difficult to do a confident detection of planets in high-magnification events with extremely weak central perturbations (i.e., the fractional deviation is ${\delta}{\leq}0.02$). For the confident detection of planets in the extremely weak central perturbation events, it is needed both the high cadence monitoring and the high photometric accuracy. A next-generation ground-based observation project, KMTNet (Korea Microlensing Telescope Network), satisfies both the conditions. Here we investigate how well planets in high-magnification events with extremely weak central perturbations are detected by KMTNet. First, we determine the probability of occurrence of events with ${\delta}{\leq}0.02$. From this, we find that for ${\leq}100M_E$ planets in the separation of $0.2AU{\leq}d{\leq}20AU$, events with ${\delta}{\leq}0.02$ occur with a frequency of more than 70%, in which d is the projected planet-star separation. Second, we estimate the efficiency of detecting planetary signals in the events with ${\delta}{\leq}0.02$ via KMTNet. We find that for main-sequence and subgiant source stars, ${\geq}1M_E$ planets can be detected more than 50% in a certain range that has the efficiency of ${\geq}10%$ and changes with the planet mass.
A photovoltaic system is getting the spotlight for a environment-friendly energy source. But its location is limited because a lot of land is necessary for photovoltaic arrays. Nevertheless, its dissemination is rapidly increasing more than 40 % every year and exceeded about 400 MW in 2009. The radical growth of a photovoltaic system aggravated a lack of sites, so that forests and farmland were destroyed. It is demanded to make use of a vacant lot or little piece of land for the way to solve the lack of sites and improve the location requirements for a photovoltaic system. General photovoltaic arrays are consist of a single layer structure and needs enough separation distances to maximize the amount of solar radiation and to eliminate influences by the shadow of other arrays. So that a large amount of land is required for the site. The solar cell arrays with long separation distances can not be placed in a small vacant lot and its site application efficiency is low. This study optimized photovoltaic arrays as multilayered structure with movable sleeves for the efficient photovoltaic in a small site. The existing photovoltaic arrays with a single layer structure were fixed or tracking systems. In this experimental equipment, photovoltaic arrays attached to the multilayers have rectilinear movement and rotary motion using sleeves. Therefore, shadow influences were removed and the generation capacity was improved. On the simulation result, generation increased by about 30% in the same site considering shadow influences and so on.
This paper presents a new kurtosis-based algorithm for blind separation of convolutively mixed source signals. The algorithm whitens the signals not only spatially but also temporally beforehand. A separator is built for the whitened signals and it exists in the set of para-unitary matrices. Since the set forms a curved manifold, it is hard to treat its elements. In order to avoid the difficulty, this paper introduces the Cayley transformation for the para-unitary matrices. The transformed matrix is referred to as para-skew-Hermitian matrix and the set of such matrices forms a linear space. In the set of all para-skew-Hermitian matrices, the kurtosis-based algorithm obtains a desired separator. This paper also shows the algorithm's application to electrogastrogram datum which are observed by 4 electrodes on subjects' abdomen around their stomachs. An electrogastrogram contains signals from a stomach and other organs. This paper obtains independent components by the algorithm and then extracts the signal corresponding to the stomach from the data.

The study of Schwann cell myelination has been facilitated by the availability to isolate and establish pure population of primary Schwann cells. Dorsal root ganglia (DRG) of mouse embryo as source of Schwann cells were used in this study. This method includes three steps: first step of dissociation of the embryonic DRG, second step of expansion of Schwann cell precursors, followed by mechanical separation of the Schwann cell-neuronal network from the underlying fibroblasts, and third step of purification of Schwann cells from the associated neurons and subsequent expansion of the purified Schwann cells. We made a highly purified population of Schwann cells and Schwann cell-neuron networks in a short period using this procedure.

The Conventional methods of color separation in computer-based machine vision offer only weak performance because of environmental factors such as light source, camera sensitivity, and others. In this paper, we propose an improved color separation method using RGB, HLS, color coordination space, and fuzzy similarity measure. RGB consists of red, green and blue, the three primary colors of light. HLS includes hue, light and saturation, the human recognition elements of co]or. A fuzzy similarity measure was employed for evaluate the similarity among fuzzy colors with the six features of RGB and HLS.

The steel industry accounts for about 5% of the total annual global energy consumption and more than 6% of the total anthropogenic carbon dioxide emissions. Therefore, there is a need to increase energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in these industries. The utilization of coke oven gas, a byproduct of the coke plant, is one of the main ways to achieve this goal. Coke oven gas used as a fuel in many steelmaking process is a hydrogen-rich gas with high energy potential, but it is commonly used as a heat source and is even released directly into the air after combustion reactions. In order to solve such resource waste and energy inefficiency, several alternatives have recently been proposed, such as separating and refining hydrogen directly from coke oven gas or converting it to syngas. Therefore, in this study, recent research trends on the separation and purification of hydrogen from coke oven gas and the production of syngas were introduced.
