  • The performance of a TCP protocol on MANETs has been studied in a numerous researches. One of the significant reasons of TCP performance degradation on MANETs is inability to distinguish between packet losses due to congestion from those caused by nodes mobility and as consequence broken routes. This paper presents the Cluster-Label-based Routing (CLR) protocol that is an attempt to compensate source of TCP problems on MANETs - multi-hop mobile environment. By utilizing Cluster-Label-based mechanism for Backbone, the CLR is able to concentrate on detection and compensation of movement of a destination node. The proposed protocol provides better goodput and delay performance than standardized protocols especially in cases of large network size and/or high mobility rate.

  • An optimal routing method using hysteresis binary neurons with link failure probability is proposed in this paper. The link failures in computer networks can degrade the performance of the entire networks. We assume the time between successive link failures is exponentially distributed with parameter ${\lambda}$ and the failures are independent. The link failure probability is used for neural networks to find the shortest paths of given source-destination pairs. By using the probability of link failures and hysteresis binary neurons we implement an optimal routing method that can takes routes by coping with link failures.

  • In this paper, the computational problems of packet transmission probability (PTP) in a computer communication network (CCN) under flooding routing are investigated. To avoid a congestion under this routing, two control methods are considerd, i. e., copy storage control and hop count control. Problems of PTP under flooding routings with these two control methods are respectively shown to be equivalent to those of source-to-terminal reliability(STR) with an exception for a case of hop count control where the hop count is less than the length of the longest path. For this exceptional case, an efficient computational algorithm for PTP is developed. This algorithm is proposed as an efficient tool for the determination of hop count which satisfies a given reliability constraint. A numerical example illustrates a proposed algorithm.

  • In this paper, we propose a grid-based efficient routing protocol for a mobile sink in wireless sensor networks. In the proposed protocol, the network is partitioned into grids and each grid has a grid head. For the efficient routing to a mobile sink, the proposed protocol uses a mobile sink representative node to send the data to a mobile sink and grid heads are used as a mobile sink representative node. Furthermore, the proposed protocol uses nodes in the boundary of the center grid as position storage nodes. The position storage nodes store the position of a mobile sink representative node and provide source nodes with it for data delivery. With these features, the proposed protocol can reduce a lot of overhead to update the position information and improve the delay of data delivery to a mobile sink. The proposed protocol performs better than other protocols in terms of the delay and the energy consumption per node in the performance evaluation.

  • Tree-based structures offer assured optimal paths from the data source to the sink. Shortest routes are disregarded since these do not consider the remaining energy level of the nodes. This shortens the lifetime of the whole network. Most tree-based routing protocols, although aware of the nodes' energy, do not consider an energy aware sleep scheduling scheme. We propose an energy-aware sleep scheduling (EASS) scheme that will improve the sleep scheduling scheme of an existing tree-based routing protocol. An energy harvesting structure will be implemented on the wireless sensor network. The depth of sleep of every node will be based on the harvested energy.

  • The k-ary n-cube $Q^k_n$ is widely used in the design and implementation of parallel and distributed processing architectures. It consists of $k^n$ identical nodes, each node having degree 2n is connected through bidirectional, point-to-point communication channels to different neighbors. On $Q^k_n$ we would like to transmit packets from a source node to 2n destination nodes simultaneously along paths on this network, the $i^{th}$ packet will be transmitted along the $i^{th}$ path, where $0{\leq}i{\leq}2n-1$. In order for all packets to arrive at a destination node quickly and securely, we present an $O(n^3)$ routing algorithm on $Q^k_n$ for generating a set of one-to-many node-disjoint and nearly shortest paths, where each path is either shortest or nearly shortest and the total length of these paths is nearly minimum since the path is mainly determined by employing the Hungarian method.

  • MANET(Mobile Ad Hoc Network) is the structure in which a source node communicates with a destination node by establishing a route with neighbor nodes without using the existing wired or wireless network. Therefore, the routing protocol for MANET must correspond well to changes in the channel state of moving nodes, and should have simple operation, high reliability, and no routing loop. In this paper, the simulation was perform by using a traffic model with on/off two states provided by the NS-3 network simulator. Also, the duration of the ON state and the duration of the OFF state used the traffic where inter arrival time of data is irregular by generating random values with constant, exponential distribution, and Pareto distribution. The performance of the DSDV, OLSR, and AODV protocols was compare and analyzed using the generated traffic model.

  • RPL (IPv6 Routing Protocol for Low-power Lossy Network) is a standardized routing protocol for LLNs (Low power and Lossy Networks) by the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force). RPL creates routes and builds a DODAG (Destination Oriented Directed Acyclic Graph) through OF (Objective Function) defining routing metrics and optimization objectives. RPL supports a leaf mode which does not allow any child nodes. In this paper, we propose INFRA-RPL which provides a dynamic leaf mode functionality to a leaf node with the mobility. The proposed protocol is implemented in the open-source IoT operating system, Contiki-NG and Cooja simulator, and its performance is evaluated. The evaluation results show that INFRA-RPL outperforms the existing protocols in the terms of PDR, latency, and control message overhead.

  • Multimedia has to carry data of heterogeous types. Multicast communication techniques can supply the most appropriate infrastructures to such multimedia. Of many multicast protocols, the core based tree (CBT) protocol is the most concentrative studies are conducted on. The CBT places a core router at center of the shared tree and transfers data through the tore router. However, the CBT has two problems due to centralizing all network traffics into a core router. First it can raise bottleneck effect at a core router. Second, it is possible to make an additive processing overhead when core router is distant from receivers. To cope with the problems, this paper proposes an intelligent anycast routing protocol. The anycast routing attempts to distribute the centralized traffic into plural core routers by using a knowledge-based algorithm. The anycast routing estimates the traffic characteristics of multimedia data far each multicast source, and achieves effectively the distributing that places an appropriate core router to process the incoming traffic based on the traffic information in the event that request of receivers are raised. This method prevent the additional overhead to distribute traffic because an individual core router uses the information estimated to multicast sources connected to oneself and the traffic processing statistics shared with other core neuters.
