This study presents the reliability-based analysis of nonlinear structures using the analytical fragility curves excited by random earthquake loads. The stochastic method of ground motion simulation is combined with the random vibration theory to compute structural failure probability. The formulation of structural failure probability using random vibration theory, based on only the frequency information of the excitation, provides an important basis for structural analysis in places where there is a lack of sufficient recorded ground motions. The importance of frequency content of ground motions on probability of structural failure is studied for different levels of the nonlinear behavior of structures. The set of simulated ground motion for this study is based on the results of probabilistic seismic hazard analysis. It is demonstrated that the scenario events identified by the seismic risk differ from those obtained by the disaggregation of seismic hazard. The validity of the presented procedure is evaluated by Monte-Carlo simulation.
In this paper, the impact of energy constraints on a two-hop network with a source, a relay and a destination under random medium access is studied. A collision channel with erasures is considered, and the source and the relay nodes have energy harvesting capabilities and an unlimited battery to store the harvested energy. Additionally, the source and the relay node have external traffic arrivals and the relay forwards a fraction of the source node's traffic to the destination; the cooperation is performed at the network level. An inner and an outer bound of the stability region for a given transmission probability vector are obtained. Then, the closure of the inner and the outer bound is obtained separately and they turn out to be identical. This work is not only a step in connecting information theory and networking, by studying the maximum stable throughput region metric but also it taps the relatively unexplored and important domain of energy harvesting and assesses the effect of that on this important measure.
In wireless sensor networks, a node that reports information gathered from adjacent assets should relay packets appropriately so that its location context is kept private, and thereby helping ensure the security of the assets that are being monitored. Unfortunately, existing routing methods that counter the local eavesdropping-based tracing deal with a single asset, and most of them suffer from the packet-delivery latency as they prefer to take a separate path of many hops for each packet being sent. In this paper, we propose a routing method, greedy perimeter stateless routing-based source-location privacy with crew size w (GSLP-w), that enhances location privacy of the packet-originating node (i.e., active source) in the presence of multiple assets. GSLP-w is a hybrid method, in which the next-hop node is chosen in one of four modes, namely greedy, random, perimeter, and retreat modes. Random forwarding brings the path diversity, while greedy forwarding refrains from taking an excessively long path and leads to convergence to the destination. Perimeter routing makes detours that avoid the nodes near assets so that they cannot be located by an adversary tracing up the route path. We study the performance of GSLP-w with respect to crew size w (the number of packets being sent per path) and the number of sources. GSLP-w is compared with phantom routing-single path (PR-SP), which is a notable routing method for source-location privacy and our simulation results show that improvements from the point of the ratio of safety period and delivery latency become significant as the number of source nodes increases.

For intermittently connected wireless sensor networks deployed in hash environments, sensor nodes may fail due to internal or external reasons at any time. In the process of data collection and recovery, we need to speed up as much as possible so that all the sensory data can be restored by accessing as few survivors as possible. In this paper a novel redundant data storage algorithm based on minimum spanning tree and quasi-randomized matrix-QRNCDS is proposed. QRNCDS disseminates k source data packets to n sensor nodes in the network (n>k) according to the minimum spanning tree traversal mechanism. Every node stores only one encoded data packet in its storage which is the XOR result of the received source data packets in accordance with the quasi-randomized matrix theory. The algorithm adopts the minimum spanning tree traversal rule to reduce the complexity of the traversal message of the source packets. In order to solve the problem that some source packets cannot be restored if the random matrix is not full column rank, the semi-randomized network coding method is used in QRNCDS. Each source node only needs to store its own source data packet, and the storage nodes choose to receive or not. In the decoding phase, Gaussian Elimination and Belief Propagation are combined to improve the probability and efficiency of data decoding. As a result, part of the source data can be recovered in the case of semi-random matrix without full column rank. The simulation results show that QRNCDS has lower energy consumption, higher data collection efficiency, higher decoding efficiency, smaller data storage redundancy and larger network fault tolerance.

This paper presents a lightweight true random number generator (TRNG) using beta radiation that is useful for Internet of Things (IoT) security. In general, a random number generator (RNG) is required for all secure communication devices because random numbers are needed to generate encryption keys. Most RNGs are computer algorithms and use physical noise as their seed. However, it is difficult to obtain physical noise in small IoT devices. Since IoT security functions are required in almost all countries, IoT devices must be equipped with security algorithms that can pass the cryptographic module validation programs of each country. In this regard, it is very cumbersome to embed security algorithms, random number generation algorithms, and even physical noise sources in small IoT devices. Therefore, this paper introduces a lightweight TRNG comprising a thin-film beta-radiation source and integrated circuits (ICs). Although the ICs are currently being designed, the IC design was functionally verified at the board level. Our random numbers are output from a verification board and tested according to National Institute of Standards and Technology standards.
The COVID-19 virus appeared in 2019 and is extremely contagious. Because it is very infectious and has a huge impact on people's mobility. In this paper, multiple linear regression and random forest models are used to predict the number of COVID-19 cases using COVID-19 infection status data (open source data provided by the Ministry of health and welfare) and Google Mobility Data, which can check the liquidity of various categories. The data has been divided into two sets. The first dataset is COVID-19 infection status data and all six variables of Google Mobility Data. The second dataset is COVID-19 infection status data and only two variables of Google Mobility Data: (1) Retail stores and leisure facilities (2) Grocery stores and pharmacies. The models' performance has been compared using the mean absolute error indicator. We also a correlation analysis of the random forest model and the multiple linear regression model.
Using Asynchronous Transfer Mode(ATM) which is a high-bandwidth, low-delay, cell switching and multiplexing technology, Broadband-Integrated Services Digital Network (B-ISDN) can support communication services of all kinds. To evaluate the performance of ATM networks, traffic source models to meet the requirements are demanded. We can obtain random traffic distribution for ATM networks by using the Cellular Automata (CA) which have effective random pattern generation capability. In this paper we propose an algorithm using 2-D LHCA to generate more effective random patterns with good random characteristics. And we show that the randomness by 2-D LHCA is better than that of the randomness by 1-D LHCA.
In this paper, we propose a maximum-likelihood estimation(MLE) method to obtain the location and the amplitude of the pulses in MPE( multi-pulse excitation)-LPC speech synthesis using multi-pulses as excitation source. This MLE method computes the value maximizing the likelihood function with respect to unknown parameters(amplitude and position of the pulses) for the observed data sequence. Thus in the case of overlapped pulses, the method is equivalent to Ozawa's crosscorrelation method, resulting in equal amount of computation and sound quality with the cross-correlation method. We show by computer simulation: the multi-pulses obtained by MLE method are(1) pseudo-periodic in pitch in the case of voicde sound, (2) the pulses are random for unvoiced sound, (3) the pulses change from random to periodic in the interval where the original speech signal changes from unvoiced to voiced. Short time power specta of original speech and syunthesized speech obtained by using multi-pulses as excitation source are quite similar to each other at the formants.

In this paper, we investigate cooperative transmission in one-dimensional random wireless networks. In this scheme, a stationary source communicates with a stationary destination with the help of N relays, which are randomly placed in a one-dimensional network. We derive exact and approximate expressions of the average outage probability over Rayleigh fading channels. Various Monte-Carlo simulations are presented to verify the accuracy of our analyses.
