Basis pursuit denoising을 사용한 두 수신기 간 시간 지연 추정 알고리즘 (Time delay estimation between two receivers using basis pursuit denoising)

  • 두 개 수신기에 들어오는 신호 간의 시간 지연 값을 추정하기 위한 방법들이 연구되고 있다. 그중에서 채널 추정 기법을 기반으로 한 방법의 경우는 두 수신기의 입력 신호간의 상대적인 지연을 채널의 임펄스 응답처럼 추정하는 방법이다. 이 경우에는 해당 채널의 특성이 희소 채널의 특성을 가지고 있다. 기존의 방법들은 채널의 희소성을 이용하지 못하고 있는 방법이 대부분이다. 본 논문에서는 채널의 희소성을 이용하기 위하여 희소 신호 최적화 방법의 하나인 BPD(Basis Pursuit Denoising) 최적화 기법을 사용한 시간 지연 추정 방법을 제안한다. 제안한 방법을 기존의 일반 상호 상관(Generalized Cross Correlation, GCC) 방법과 적응 소유치 분해법 및 희소 신호 추정법의 일종인 RZA-LMS(Reweighted Zero-Attracting Least Mean Square)들과 비교하여, 백색 가우시안 신호원과 유색 신호원 및 해양 포유류 신호원에 대해서 비교 실험을 하였다. 그 결과 갑자기 추정성능이 열화되는 문턱 현상이 늦게 나타나거나 훨씬 줄어드는 것을 보였다.

  • 파면곡률거리추정(Wavefront Curvature Ranging, WCR)은 음파의 파면곡률로부터 음원의 거리를 추정하는 방법이다. 기존의 파면곡률거리추정은 음속을 상수로 가정하고 삼각법으로 거리를 추정한다. 이 가정 때문에 해저면반사경로가 뚜렷하게 분리되는 해양환경에서는 거리 오차가 발생한다. 거리 오차를 줄이기 위해 해양의 음속구조를 적용하고 최대우도추정(Maximum Likelihood Estimation, MLE)방법으로 거리를 추정하는 정합 파면곡률거리추정(Matched Wavefront Curvature Ranging, MWCR) 을 제안하였다. 정합 파면곡률거리추정의 시뮬레이션 결과로부터 거리 오차의 감소를 확인하였다. 향후에 실측 신호로부터 거리 추정의 신뢰성을 확인하면 소나 시스템에 적용 가능할 것이다.

  • In this paper, We try to design combined source-channel coder that is compatible with video coding standards. This MAP decoder is proposed by adding semantic structure and semantic constraint of video coding standards to the method using redundnacy of the MAP decoders proposed previously. Then, We get the better performance than usual channel coder's.

  • In this paper, we propose a method for source localization in reverberant environments based on an adaptive eigenvalue decomposition (AED) algorithm which directly estimates channel impulse responses from a speaker to microphones. Unfortunately, the AED algorithm may suffer from whitening effects on channels estimated from temporally correlated natural sounds. The proposed method which applies sparse priors to the estimated channels can avoid the temporal whitening and improve the performance of source localization in reverberant environments. Experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • The stochastic point-source model has been widely used in generating artificial ground motions, which can be used to develop a ground motion prediction equation and to evaluate the seismic risk of structures. This model mainly consists of three different functions representing source, path, and site effects. The path effect is used to emulate decay in ground motion in accordance with distance from the source. In the stochastic point-source model, the path attenuation effect is taken into account by using the geometrical attenuation effect and the inelastic attenuation effect. The aim of this study is to develop accurate equations of ground motion attenuation in the Korean peninsula. In this study, attenuation was estimated and validated by using a stochastic point source model and observed ground motion recordings for the Korean peninsula.

마이크로폰 어레이를 이용한 이동 로봇의 음원 추적 제어 (Sound Source Tracking Control of a Mobile Robot Using a Microphone Array)

  • To follow a sound source by a mobile robot, the relative position and orientation of the sound source from the mobile robot have been estimated using a microphone array. In this research, the difference among the traveling times of the sound source to each of three microphones has been used to calculate the distance and orientation of the sound source from the mobile robot which carries the microphone array. The cross-correlation between two signals has been applied for detecting the time difference between two signals, which provides reliable and precise value of the time difference comparing to the conventional methods. To generate the tracking direction to the sound source, fuzzy rules are applied and the results are used to control the mobile robot in a real-time. The efficiency of the proposed algorithm has been demonstrated through the real experiments comparing to the conventional approaches.

잔향수조 내 수중음원의 음원레벨 추정기법에 관한 실험연구 (Experimental Study on Source Level Estimation Techniques of Underwater Sound Source in Reverberant Water Tank)

  • The acoustic power is used as a primary index characterizing underwater sound sources and could be defined by its source level. The source level has been assessed using various experimental techniques such as the reverberation time method and reverberant tank plot method. While the reverberation time method requires reverberation time data extracted in a preliminary experiment in a reverberant water tank, the reverberant tank plot method only needs acoustic pressure data directly obtained at the reverberation water tank. In this research, these experimental techniques were studied in comparative experiments to estimate the source levels of underwater sources in a reverberant water tank. This paper summarizes the basic theories and procedures of these experimental techniques and presents the experimental results for an underwater source in a long cuboid water tank using each technique, along with a discussion.

Distributed Estimation Using Non-regular Quantized Data

  • We consider a distributed estimation where many nodes remotely placed at known locations collect the measurements of the parameter of interest, quantize these measurements, and transmit the quantized data to a fusion node; this fusion node performs the parameter estimation. Noting that quantizers at nodes should operate in a non-regular framework where multiple codewords or quantization partitions can be mapped from a single measurement to improve the system performance, we propose a low-weight estimation algorithm that finds the most feasible combination of codewords. This combination is found by computing the weighted sum of the possible combinations whose weights are obtained by counting their occurrence in a learning process. Otherwise, tremendous complexity will be inevitable due to multiple codewords or partitions interpreted from non-regular quantized data. We conduct extensive experiments to demonstrate that the proposed algorithm provides a statistically significant performance gain with low complexity as compared to typical estimation techniques.

Efficient distributed estimation based on non-regular quantized data

  • We consider parameter estimation in distributed systems in which measurements at local nodes are quantized in a non-regular manner, where multiple codewords are mapped into a single local measurement. For the system with non-regular quantization, to ensure a perfect independent encoding at local nodes, a local measurement can be encoded into a set of a great number of codewords which are transmitted to a fusion node where estimation is conducted with enormous computational cost due to the large cardinality of the sets. In this paper, we propose an efficient estimation technique that can handle the non-regular quantized data by efficiently finding the feasible combination of codewords without searching all of the possible combinations. We conduct experiments to show that the proposed estimation performs well with respect to previous novel techniques with a reasonable complexity.
