This study was to secure the safety of poor appearance distribution concrete poles effectively and to reduce the replacement costs of them by developing a soundness evaluation index. The researcher of this study investigated poor appearance types of concrete pole, collected 53 of test samples, and tested pole strength. As a result of strength test, only 17 percent of poor appearance concrete poles were below 2.0 of safety factor spec. As results of multiple regression analysis, it is verified that surface air void, horizontal crack, net-shaped crack, elapsed year, vertical crack, and deterioration in concrete compressive strength have statistically negative effects on safety factor of concrete poles in a significant level. The researcher set up a soundness evaluation index by using multiple regression equation, and suggested that poor appearance concrete poles should be replaced or reinforced only in case of soundness evaluation score of 150 or above.
In this study, a hydrological cycle soundness evaluation method was developed using monthly meteorological observation data. The Gyeongan stream watershed was divided into five sub-basins and eight criteria were established for hydrological cycle evaluation: the number of non-rainfall day, the number of non-rainfall day fluctuation, over 30 mm per day, over 30 mm per day fluctuation, average river level, average river level fluctuation, average groundwater level and average groundwater level fluctuation. Observation data were normalized and weights for evaluation by each sub-basin were calculated using the entropy method. The hydrological cycle soundness evaluation indices were calculated using TOPSIS applying the calculated weight value. As a result of the study, it was found that the hydrological cycle soundness was unstable in the Gyeongan-upstream from November to January, the Gyeongan-suwipyo from February to April, Gonjiam stream from April to May, and the Gyeongan-downstream from November to February. In this study, the developed technique is expected to serve as a quantitative basis for policy decision to recover hydrological cycle soundness.
A small-sized turbocharger is generally used in downsizing engine for various vehicles. When a centrifugal compressor, which is one of the crucial units of the turbocharger, is downsized, the compressor has much more possibilities of being damaged because of its high rotating speed, causing insecure structural soundness. Thus, it is of essential to study on the improvement of the structural soundness of a small-sized turbocharger. In this study, numerical analysis on the various blade geometries and mass flow rate of the compressor was performed using the commercial software ANSYS CFX. In addition, the evaluation on the structural soundness of a compressor impeller for respective cases was conducted using ANSYS Mechanical. As a result, it was shown that the compressor had higher efficiency with increasingly secured structural soundness.

As energy conservation and environmental issues are emerging as a hot topic around the world, consumers are demanding high-efficiency, eco-friendly products. In this study, the author proposed 120W LED lighting system that replace metal halide lamp (MHL) which is currently used in the industry. Furthermore, it would be possible to provide a perfect opportunity for Korea to rise as a global leader in the LED lighting industry through soundness evaluation of the LED lighting system that is applied.
In this study, the performance-based evaluation factors for rock slopes have been deducted using Delphi-method. Validity of the result was verified through factor analysis. Performance of rock slope is classified as soundness, stability and durability. Through the Delphi survey, 17 factors including discontinuity orientation are deducted for soundness, 4 factors and 3 factors are selected for stability and durability, respectively. Validation is conducted using Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) for 24 factors, and all factors are found to be valid. As a result of Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), 3-types of performance were subdivided into internal soundness, external soundness, risk, damage and durability of slopes and protection (reinforcement) facilities.
The evaluation of soundness of pile is very important for the safety of super structure. In this paper, the HWAW(Harmonic Wavelet Analysis of Wave) method which is developed to determine phase and group velocities of waves is applied to evaluate integrity of pile non-destructivly. The proposed method can evaluate a soundness of pile and pile end condition which is very important factor for pile behaviour. To verity the applicability of HWAW method in non-destructive test for pile, the numerical simulation test using ABAQUS was performed. And the model pile was made and the proposed non-destructive pile tests were applied to evaluate soundness and end boundary condition of model pile in the air and soil box. Through a numerical simulation and model tests, it is shown that the HWAW method has good potential of applying to the evaluation of pile integrity.
One of the major roles of concrete lining is the supplementary support of ground load. Therefore, if there are cracks or deformation found in the lining, the causes should be carefully examined. Tunnel Soundness Evaluation System (DW-TSES) was developed to meet such requirements. Main facility of the system was intended to find the probable causes on the basis of the apparent changes in lining and the environmental conditions. It also includes facilities for evaluating the soundness of a tunnel and indicating the method for repair or reinforcement. The characteristic feature of damages is used for reasoning in case of deterioration and leakage, and artificial neural network is used in external pressure. This process depends on the results of the case analyses and FDM, which have a collection of the typical features of different types of damages as well as the unusual changes caused by the external pressure. The comparison of the outputs of this system with those of expert's diagnoses draws the following conclusions. 1) Artificial neural network was a suitable tool to find to causes of damages by external pressure. 2) The environmental conditions improved the accuracy in reasoning. 3) The result of finding causes and evaluating soundness was helpful to suggest effective methods concerning tunnel maintenance.

This paper considers the vertical pumps resonance and soundness. Normally large vertical pump's rotating speed is low, so the low natural mode can make a resonance on the motor and motor stand assembly. The pump resonance makes a very high vibration and trouble on the pump systems. Thus to avoid pump resonance when the pump is on the resonance region, we give the added mass method and evaluate the structure soundness by computer simulation and test on the site. Furthermore we evaluate the modal sensitivity and expect running conditions by the using ISO10814.
The purpose of this study is to establish a system to evaluate the ecological soundness of the Geum river basin. The study target area is 14 sub-watersheds of the Geum river basin. For the selection of indicators to ensure transparency and consistency of the evaluation indicators, the ecological soundness indicators were secured by using the indicator adjustment method derived in consideration of the intrinsic weight change characteristics between indicators. The index with the greatest impact on the final composite index was identified as the index of the aquatic ecology among the water quantity, water quality, aquatic ecology, and habitat-riparian environment dimensions. As a result of analyzing the ecological health index of the river, the watershed upstream of the dam (based on the Daecheong -dam) was evaluated to be in relatively good condition until 2014 compared to the base year(2008), and the watershed downstream of the dam was evaluated to be in a poor condition. The annual trend of changes in the ecological soundness index on an annual basis is as follows. In the case of Yongdamdam, Yongdamdamdownstream, Bocheong-chun, Daechungdam, Daechungdamdownstream, and Nonsancheon, although there are differences by time period, the soundness index is in declining. On the other hand, Mujunamdaecheon, Yeongdongcheon, and Gapcheon were evaluated to have improved soundness, while Chogang, Daechungdamupstream, Mihocheon, Gongjugeumgang, and Geumgangestuary were evaluated to deteriorate again after soundness was improved.

An influence factors for soundness evaluation of river levee include resistibility and embankment for piping of ground consisting embankment in case piping, permeability coefficient of ground, height of embankment, the width of crest, material characteristics of embankment and foundation ground, shape of embankment slope, an influence for penetration of rainfall or river water in case slope stability. In this study, it was operated a feasibility investigation of existing design result, stability evaluation for permeability coefficient use and permeability coefficient change of foundation ground to investigate an influence in line with permeability coefficient change for result of river levee penetration analysis. The evaluation results of influence factors, the permeability coefficient used in design and it was evaluated influence in safety factor of piping. After the evaluation of influence factors, the permeability coefficient used in the design appears with the fact that differs in a design report about same soil, Accordingly, the stability investigation of embankment by application of literature data can affect stability evaluation results by change factors like a permeability coefficient, void ratio. It should be certainly used material properties by a test in soundness evaluation of river levee.
