The Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DBD) is a nonequilibrium gas discharge that is generated in the space between two electrodes, which are separated by an insulating dielectric layer. The dielectric layer can be put on either of the two electrodes or be inserted in the space between two electrodes. If an AC or pulse high voltage is applied to the electrodes that is operated at applied frequency from 50Hz to several MHz and applied voltages from a few to a few tens of kilovolts rms, the breakdown can occur in working gas, resulting in large numbers of micro-discharges across the gap, the gas discharge is the so called DBD. Compared with most other means for nonequilibrium discharges, the main advantage of the DBD is that active species for chemical reaction can be produced at low temperature and atmospheric pressure without the vacuum set up, it also presents many unique physical and chemical process including light, heat, sound and electricity. This has led to a number of important applications such as ozone synthesizing, UV lamp house, CO2 lasers, et al. In recent years, due to its potential applications in plasma chemistry, semiconductor etching, pollution control, nanometer material and large area flat plasma display panels, DBD has received intensive attention from many researchers and is becoming a hot topic in the field of non-thermal plasma.

Sound generation and radiation from the duct-rotor system are calculated numerically. The wake geometries of a two-bladed rotor are calculated by using a time-marching fiee-wake method without a non-physical model of the far wake. Acoustic free field due to a rotating rotor is obtained by Lowson's equation. Using Kirchhoff source, rotating sources are modeled as stationary ones and can be inserted in the thin body boundary element method. The Kirchhoff source is validated through calculation of acoustic pressure due to a rotating point force. The thin body boundary element method (thin body BEM) is validated through calculation of acoustic radiation of ducted dipole. Using Kirchhoff source and thin body BEM, acoustic radiation of a ducted rotating source is calculated. Acoustic shielding is observed by inserting a duct and shows different phenomena at each major frequency. Acoustic radiation of a real duct-rotor system is also calculated using this method and the ducted acoustic field is significantly different from rotor only.

The flow around a circular cylinder was controlled by an acoustic excitation issued from a thin slit along the cylinder axis. The static pressure distributions around the cylinder wall and flow characteristics in the near wake have been measured. Experiments were performed under three cases of Reynolds number, 7.8 * 10$\^$4/, 2.3 * 10$\^$5/ and 3.8 * 10$\^$5/. The effects of excitation frequency, sound pressure level and the location of the slit were examined. Data indicate that the excitation frequency and the slit location are the key parameters for controlling the separated flow. At Re$\_$d/, = 7.8 * 10$\^$4/, the drag is reduced and the lift is generated to upward direction, however, at Re$\_$d/, =2.3 * 10$\^$5/ and 3.8 * 10$\_$5/, the drag is increased and lift is generated to downward direction inversely. It is thought that the lift switching phenomenon is due to the different separation point of upper surface and lower surface on circular cylinder with respect to the flow regime which depends on the Reynolds number. Vortex shedding frequencies are different at upper side and lower side. Time-averaged velocity field shows that mean velocity vector and the points of maximum intensities are inclined to downward direction at Re$\_$d/ = 7.8 * 10$\^$4/, but are inclined to upward direction at Re$\_$d/ = 2.3 * 10$\^$5/.

This paper describes Active Noise Cancellation/Control(ANC) method that removes the information of the unnecessary noise and doesn't remove the informations of the necessary noise(warning sound, operating sound etc.) for the induced noise of the mechanical system. In this paper, the noise source Is axial fan, and the Feedback Active Noise control method that can effectively control BPF generated from the axial fan is used, and the Filtered-X LMS algorithm for adaptive algorithms is used. The experiments are executed for two case(propagating noise in the duct, emission noise for exterior free field). The part to be removed is BPF noise, and the band-pass filter not to effect to the other frequencies is used. Also, to investigate the effect of the noise reduction for human, we are compared with the results that are controlled for using Loudness before and after. As a results, we are certified that the BPF is decreased only and frequencies outside of BPF are not affected, and we acquire the reduction effects of 6.7 dB Loudness Level, then the frequency to be removed is controlled. Therefore, we can be certified that sound pressure as well as loudness can be effectively decreased for human sound quality
The purpose of this paper is to study and analyze the improvement method for the failure examples including the vehicle brake system in actual field. It was verified that the indicator plate of pad wear scratched the brake disk because of wearing after displacement of non- identification parts pad. The caliper of other vehicle was installed with brake system verified the phenomenon produced groove in center point because of one side wear when the pad was not fully contacted with the rub disk by other action surface pressure and pad action condition. It verified that the crack phenomenon fatigue was produced by brake thermal deformation because of decreasing the thickness by grinding to modify the non-uniformed wear of brake disk. It verified that the friction sound was produced by the friction phenomenon because of non-uniformed contact of lining and an alien substance with inner of the drum and lining braking by crack phenomenon with brake drum surface.

An attempt to reduce supersonic jet noise is carried out by using two steady microjets in a round jet. The jet is issued from a round sonic nozzle with an exit diameter of 10 mm. Two micro-nozzles with an inside diameter of 1 mm each are installed on the exit plane at an angle of 45 relative to the main jet axis. Far-field noise was measured at 40 diameters off the jet axis. The angle between a microphone and the jet axis is 30 or 90$^{\circ}$. For an injection rate of 4-6% of the main jet, screech tones were completely suppressed by the microjets. The reduction in the overall sound pressure levels were 2.4 and 2.7 dB for 90 and 30 measuring directions, respectively. However, the enhancement of mixing/spreading of the jet by the microjet was negligible. The reduction of noise is probably due to distorted shock cell structures and/or deformed large scale vortical structures by the microjets.

We reported on characteristics of the piezoelectric ceramic-polymer composite for the application of the thick-film speaker. The PVDF-PZT composites were fabricated to incorporate the advantages of both ceramic and polymer with various mixing ratios by 3-roll mill mixer. The composite solutions were coated by the conventional screen-printing method on ITO electrode coated PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) polymer film. After depositing the top-electrode of silver-paste, 4 kV/mm of DC field was applied at $120^{\circ}C$ for 30 min to poling the composite films. The value of $d_{33}$ (piezoelectric charge constant) was increased when the PZT weight percent was increased. The maximum value of the $d_{33}$ was 24 pC/N at 70 wt% PZT. But the $g{33}$ (piezoelectric voltage constant) showed the maximum value of $32mV{\cdot}m/N$ at 65 wt% of PZT powder. The SPL (sound pressure level) of the speaker fabricated with the 65:35 composite film was about 68 dB at 1 kHz.

It is important for an ultrasonic testing to know the sound pressure field and the directivity of ultrasonic waves propagating in a solid. The directivity of ultrasonic wave is closely related to the sensitivity, the scanning pitch, the arrangement of angle probe, and the defect kind in ultrasonic testing. This paper describes on the directivity measurement of ultrasonic wave using ultrasonic wave visualization method. The directivity of the shear wave emitted from the angle probes were constant during propagation. The difference of directivity was existed between 2MHz and 4MHz angle probes. The centers of directivity were located backward from the incident poing and inside of the angle probe and were not changed during the wave propagation.
An attempt to reduce supersonic Jet noise is carried out by using two steady microjets in a round jet. The jet is issued from a round sonic nozzle with an exit diameter of 10mm. Two micro-nozzles with an inside diameter of 1mm each are installed on the exit plane with an off-axis angle of $45^{\circ}$. Far-field noise was measured at a location 40 diameters off the jet axis. The angles between a microphone and the jet axis are $45^{\circ}\;and\;90^{\circ}$. For an injection rate less than $1{\%}$ of the main jet, screech tones were completely suppressed by the microjets. The reduction in the ovelall sound pressure levels were $2.4\;and\;2.7\;dB\;for\;90^{\circ}\;and\;45^{\circ}$ directions, respectively. The enhancement of mixing/spreading of the jet by the microjet was negligible. The reduction of noise is probably due to distorted shock cell structures and/or broken large scale vortical structures by the microjets.
The T-s chart of air displays graphically the thermophysical properties, so it is very conveniently used in various thermal systems. In previous study, the software analyzing 31 kinds of values in water system and 32 kinds of values in air-conditioning system were developed. In this study, the software drawing 13 kinds of quantity of state on air properties as ideal gas and analyzing 25 kinds of values in any air system was developed. The 13 kinds of quantity of state on air properties are temperature, pressure, specific volume, specific internal energy, specific enthalpy, specific entropy, specific exergy, exergy ratio, density, isobaric specific heat, isochoric specific heat, ratio of specific heat, and velocity of sound, and the 25 kinds of values including 13 kinds are mass flow rate, volume flow rate, internal energy flow rate, enthalpy flow rate, entropy flow rate, exergy flow rate, heat flow rate, power output, power efficiency, reversible work, lost work, and relative humidity.
