G.718 초광대역 코덱의 음질 향상을 위한 개선된 Generic Mode Coding 방법 (Modified Generic Mode Coding Scheme for Enhanced Sound Quality of G.718 SWB)

  • This paper describes a new algorithm for encoding spectral shape and envelope in the generic mode of G.718 super-wide band (SWB). In the G.718 SWB coder, generic mode coding and sinusoidal enhancement are used for the quantization of modified discrete cosine transform (MDCT)-based parameters in the high frequency band. In the generic mode, the high frequency band is divided into sub-bands and for every sub-band the most similar match with the selected similarity criteria is searched from the coded and envelope normalized wideband content. In order to improve the quantization scheme in high frequency region of speech/audio signals, the modified generic mode by the improvement of the generic mode in G.718 SWB is proposed. In the proposed generic mode, perceptual vector quantization of spectral envelopes and the resolution increase for spectral copy are used. The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated in terms of objective quality. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm increases the quality of sounds significantly.

A Noise Reduction Method with Linear Prediction Using Periodicity of Voiced Speech

  • A noise reduction technique to reduce background noise in corrupted voice is proposed. The proposed method is based on linear prediction and takes advantages of periodicity of voiced speech. A voiced sound is regarded as a periodic stationary signal in short time interval. Therefore, the current voice signal is correlated with the voice signal delayed by a pitch period. A linear predictor can estimate only the current signal correlated with the delayed signal. Therefore, the enhanced voice can be obtained as output of the linear predictor. Simulation results show that the proposed method is able to reduce the background noise.

종교공간에 있어서 현상학적인 빛의 연출에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Effects of the Phenomenological Light in the Religious Space)

  • From the ancient to contemporary architecture, the light has been an important theme determining the characteristics of interior space. Especially in the religious space, the light was manipulated to express the worship for a god more than a physical element of the nature. It implied that human's space perception through the light was considered prior to the space itself. The perceptual experience in space was primarily elicited by the light with other factors, such as water, texture, and sound which temporarily renewed and updated the information of space. In this study, we critically analyzed the effects of the light which enhanced human's perceptual experience in the religious space in the view of Merleau Ponty's phenomenological philosophy. We suggested that the light was one of the mos4 effective factors to express the characteristics of the religious space with respect to the Phenomenological Light which contributed to the continuity of time, expansion and direction of space, immaterialzation, and perceptual illusion.

골프연습장에서 발생하는 타격소음의 평가 및 영향범위 (Evaluation and Effect Area of Hitting Noise Occurring at a Golf Driving Range)

  • Diverse sports are appearing due to the enhanced quality of life and improved cultural standards of the present society. In particular, as golf gains greater popularity from the public, many golf ranges are being constructed near residential areas. However, the hitting noise generated by golf disrupt the pleasant living environment of neighboring residents to generate strong disputes related with noise. In this perspective, this study analyzed the characteristics and dispersion of sound pressure level according to the frequency of hitting noises generated in golf driving ranges and used this data to predict the range of effect through computer simulation. Thus, it is stipulated that these research results can be used as useful data for establishing effective plans in the future during civil complaints reported in relation to hitting noises in golf driving ranges.

  • A polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF)-based film speaker is successfully fabricated with enhanced bass sound by incorporating buckled nanospring carbon nanotubes (NS-CNTs) as fillers. Various concentrations up to 1-7 wt% of uniformly dispersed buckled NS-CNTs are loaded to increase the beta (β)-phase fraction, crystallinity, and dielectric constant of the speaker, and this results in the bass part enhancement of about 19 dB full scale (dBFS) at 7 wt% filler loading of the piezoelectric film speaker.

  • We propose and develop Home Security robot system based on Sensor Network (HSSN) configured by sensor nodes including radio frequency (RF), ultrasonic, temperature, light and sound sensors. Our system can acknowledge security alarm events that are acquired by sensor nodes and relayed in the hop-by-hop transmission way. There are sensor network, Home Security Mobile Robot (HSMR) and Home Server(HS) in this system. In the experimental results of this system, we presented that our system has more enhanced performance of response to emergency context and more speedy and accurate path planning to target position for arriving an alarm zone with obstacle avoidance and acquiring the context-aware information.

  • Recently, the community developmental enthusiasm is activated and emerged with the varied developmental plans since the localization was implemented in Korea. But the anxious view of the environmental problems has been gradually heightened in the Environmentally Sound and Sustainable Developmental(ESSD). The local autonomy should listen to the public opinions because the people's anti-developmental movement could obstruct the development project in the community level. The Environment-friendly Rural Development Plan(EFRDP) pursues the development and the environmental preservation of the community at the same time. Therefore EFRDP reflects the local developmental intention and consideration of environmental preservation at the step of planning. Throughout the planning process the opinions of development and environmental preservation should be adjusted, the people's planning ability can be enhanced, and new creative alternative ideas will come out at times.

  • The piezoelectric ZnO thin films were deposited onto Al/Si substrate in order to figure out the crystalline and the residual stress of deposited films. As the $Ar/O_2$ gas ratio is increased, c-axis orientation of deposited films is significantly enhanced and also the residual stresses of ZnO films are all compressive. They are decreased from -1.2 GPa to -950 MPa as the $Ar/O_2$ gas ratio is increased. A diaphragm-based piezoelectric microspeaker fabricated on ONO films shows about 14 mPa output pressure at 1 kHz with $8V_{peak-to-peak}$.

위상측정방식을 이용한 3차원 초음파 풍향풍속계의 특성분석 (Characterization of three-dimensional ultrasonic anemometer using phase measurement)

  • Ultrasonic anemometers using pulse envelope detection-based method are standard instruments in most meteorological studies. In this paper, a new phase measurement method is tried to achieve the enhanced resolution without changing dimensions. The measurement sensitivity, dynamic range, and measurement speed of the new instrument are 0.2 mm/s, 13.3 m/s, and 13 measurements/sec, respectively. A graphic user interface is added to show the velocity and direction of the wind with the speed of sound and temperature of the wind in the 3 dimensional space. The new anemometer could be useful for the measurement of the air speed, the flow of fluids, and even air flow inside the downtown buildings.

반사파가 있는 관내의 능동 소음제어 (Active Noise Control in a Duct With Reflected Wave)

  • This study is to describe the effects of the duct termination conditions conditions upon the active noise attenuation system. The adaptive filtering algorithm using FIR filter is implemented for duct noise attenuation. To avoid the instability caused by the acoustic feedback, two methods are considered. One is to use a compensating FIR filter. The other is to utilize uni-directional detecting microphone and uni-directional control speaker. Experimental results show that the reflections of sound from duct terminations greatly reduce the performance of ANC system. The directionality of detecting microphone and control speaker is a major factor to decide ANC performance. When there are some reflections from both duct terminations, the noise attenuation using finite FIR filter is not enough to model the duct plant. Especially, the reflection from the upstream termination reduces the noise attenuation in the frequencies related to the distance between control speaker and upstream termination. The performance of the noise attenuation is found to be largely enhanced by using uni-directional coupler, both on detecting microphone and control speaker, even if the duct system has an arbitrary termination conditions.
