Chrysin 7-Ο-crotonate was synthesized by condensing crotonic acid with chrysin in organic solvent, tetrahydrofuran (THF) using dicyclohexylcarbodiimide (DCC) and 4-dimethylaminopyridine (DMAP). Its structure was indentified by NMR, MS, UV, IR etc. We also investigated the physico-chemical properties and set up the quantitative anytical method of this compound. The correlation coefficient of calibration curve measured at the isobestic point (340 nm) on this compound was approximately 0.9994 by absorption spetrophtometry. Detection limit was 1.6ng at S/N=3 by using a RP column by HPLC. The hair growth effect fo chrysin 7-Ο-crotonate on the hair of black mouse (C57BL/6), was carried out using paste method. When its ethanol solution was administered to this black mouse by route of skin, this compound promoted the growth of hair.

In this paper, a mathematical model is developed for economic design of multi-stage distribution system that consists of factory, central distribution centers, local distribution centers and retailers. The retailers are supplied products from different stage suppliers according to order size. The retailers are supplied products from factory if demand amount is large, central distribution center if medium, local distribution center if small. The economic design is to determine the economic size of facility factors that consist of distribution system. The cost factors are transportation cost from supply places to demand places, handling cost at distribution centers and inventory holding cost at retailers. It is to determine the transportation route of each retailer, the size and number of the vehicle at factory and distribution centers, the handling amount at distribution centers in order to minimize the total costs. The mathematical model is represented, the solution procedure is developed, and a numerical example is shown.

Recently, automobile industry expands from mechatronics area through intelligent information area, and the telematics technology is one of the greatest developing points. The telematics is utilizing the on-board-unit of vehicle's communication system, and it provides necessary information and value-added service to vehicles as well as drivers. Most of the telematics offers the solution of searching a route or generates an optimal path. This paper investigates telematics with the logistics point of view, such as freight location tracking, vehicle emergency information, etc. The telematics is a core technology of automobile industry, and it becomes new business paradigm of IP(information provider). Especially, ETA(estimated arrival time) of freight and distribution tracing information are critical issues in the logistics industry. The successful integration with telematics is introduced in the paper.

To investigate the antialopecic effect of N-4-salicylomide-2-amino-6-piperidinopyrimidine 3-oxide(SALMI) and its salt on the hair of black mouse (C57BL/6), this study was carrie d out. When salmi and its salt in ethanol solution were administered to the black mouse (C57BL/6) by route of skin, both of them promoted the growth of hair.

The local irritation studies of DA-3285, recombinant human erytropoietin(rHu-EPO), were carried out in rabbits after the following treatment; single application into the conjunctival sac of the eye, single subcutaneous injection, 7-day repeated subcutaneous injection and 8-day repeated infusion into the ear vein. Also, the local irritancy of DA-3285 leaked around vein was studied in mice by single perivascular injection. The results obtained were as follows. In the result of ocular irritation test, DA-3285 could be considered as a non-irritating material. In single and 7-day repeated subcutaneous irritation test, the irritancy of DA-3285 was not so much different from that of saline. The vascular irritancy of DA3285 by 8-day repeated infusion was negligible and similar to that of saline. And the irritancy of DA3285 by perivascular injection was comparable to that of saline. These results indicate that DA-3285 has no irritating activity when injected through subcutaneous or intravenous route for clinical practice as 3.5% solution.

Mono-, or di-substituted chlorodicyanovinyl benzene compound was reacted with an excess amount of ethylenediamine to give corresponding imidazoline product with high reaction yield. This reaction occurs by stable imidazoline ring-forming process through nucleophilic attack of terminal amine on the enaminonitrile adduct, the reaction intermediate, toward electropositive enamine carbon, which is accompanied by the release of neutral malononitrile moiety. The similar reaction with 1,2-phenylenediamine produced stable enaminonitrile-amine adduct at lower temperature which could be cyclized intramolecularly to thermally stable benzimidazole at elevated temperature in solution or in solid state. From the difunctional compound of both reactants, poly(enaminonitrile-amine) could be prepared as a new soluble precursor polymer for well-known polybenzimidazole (PBI). The thermal cyclization reaction accompanying the release of malononitrile molecules was studied using thermalanalysis and infrared spectroscopy.

trans-Metanicotine, a subtype (${\alpha}_4{\beta}_2$)-selective ligand for neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptor, is under clinical phase for Alzheimer's disease. An efficient synthetic route for ($\pm$)-methyl-(1-aryl-4-pyridin-3-yl-but-3-enyl)-am ices, derivatives of tracts-metanicotine, was explored. Allylation reaction of aryl aldimines with allylmagnesium bromide in THF gave ($\pm$)-methyl-(1-aryl-but-3-enyl)-amines. Protection of the amines with the Boc group and following Heck reaction of the N-Boc amines with 3-bromopyridine gave ($\pm$)-methyl-(1-aryl-4-pyridin-3-yl-but-3-enyl)-carbamic acid tert-butyl esters. Deprotection of the N-Boc group in aqueous 1 N-HCI solution gave the titled amines in good yields. Thus, trans-metanicotine analogues modified at the ${\alpha}-position$ of the methylamino group with amyl groups were obtained in 5 steps.

Traffic signal setting policies and traffic assignment procedures are mutually dependent. The combined signal control and traffic assignment problem deals with this interaction. With the total travel time minimization objective, gradient based local search methods are implemented. Deterministic user equilibrium is the selected user route choice rule, Webster's delay curve is the link performance function, and green time per cycle ratios are decision variables. Three implemented solution codes resulting in six variations include intersections operating under multiphase operation with overlapping traffic movements. For reference, the iterative approach is also coded and all codes are tested in four example networks at five demand levels. The results show the numerical gradient estimation procedure performs best although the simplified local searches show reducing the large network computational burden. Demand level as well as network size affects the relative performance of the local and iterative approaches. As demand level becomes higher, (1) in the small network, the local search tends to outperform the iterative search and (2) in the large network, vice versa.

It has been found that the acrylonitrile solution of trans-$RhCl(CO)(Ph_3P)_2$ produces propionitrile catalytically at $90^{\circ}C$ under $P_{H_2}$=3 atm. This catalytic hydrogenation proceeds only for a certain period of time producing ca. 50 moles of propionitrile per mole of the rhodium complex. The hydrogenation with trans-$RhCl(CO)(Ph_3P)_2$ in the presence of formaldehyde is much faster than in the absence of formaldehyde, and continues without a decrease in the rate for a prolonged period of time. It is suggested that the hydrogenation with trans-$RhCl(CO)(Ph_3P)_2$ proceeds through the unsaturated route initiated by the dissociation of CO from trans- $RhCl(CO)(Ph_3P)_2$ to give coordinatively unsaturated $RhCl(Ph_3P)_2$.

The introduction of broadcast digital television (DTV) was, at one time, seen as an opportunity to rationalise video formats. The reality is quite different with a rapid divergence as the united States' ATSC offers 18 formats to cover both standard definition (SD) and high definition (HD), and yet more are supported by Europe's DVB. At the same time multi-media is expanding both as an area for source material and for finished work. Post production needs to move away from single-format facilities as requirements for multi-format operation is already increasing. A 'format-independent' solution is described which allows efficient operation with any mix of input formats and able to output any format with high quality. Attention is given to retaining the speed, accuracy and immediacy which is a feature of today's professional facilities -even while handling the greater demands of HD. Another route, using 24 frames-per-second is also examined.
