In this research, we propose a dynamic decision making using social context based on ontology. Dynamic adaptation is adopted for the high qualified decision making, which is defined as creation of proper information using contexts depending on decision maker's state of affairs in ubiquitous computing environment. Thereby, the context for the dynamic adaptation is classified as a static, dynamic and social context. Static context contains personal explicit information like demographic data. Dynamic context like weather or traffic information is provided by external information service provider. Finally, social context implies much more implicit knowledge such as social relationship than the other two-type context, but it is not easy to extract any implied tacit knowledge as well as generalized rules from the information. So, it was not easy for the social context to apply into dynamic adaptation. In this light, we tried the social context into the dynamic adaptation to generate context-appropriate personalized information. It is necessary to build modeling methodology to adopt dynamic adaptation using the context. The proposed context modeling used ontology and cases which are best to represent tacit and unstructured knowledge such as social context. Case-based reasoning and constraint satisfaction problem is applied into the dynamic decision making system for the dynamic adaption. Case-based reasoning is used case to represent the context including social, dynamic and static and to extract personalized knowledge from the personalized case-base. Constraint satisfaction problem is used when the selected case through the case-based reasoning needs dynamic adaptation, since it is usual to adapt the selected case because context can be changed timely according to environment status. The case-base reasoning adopts problem context for effective representation of static, dynamic and social context, which use a case structure with index and solution and problem ontology of decision maker. The case is stored in case-base as a repository of a decision maker's personal experience and knowledge. The constraint satisfaction problem use solution ontology which is extracted from collective intelligence which is generalized from solutions of decision makers. The solution ontology is retrieved to find proper solution depending on the decision maker's context when it is necessary. At the same time, dynamic adaptation is applied to adapt the selected case using solution ontology. The decision making process is comprised of following steps. First, whenever the system aware new context, the system converses the context into problem context ontology with case structure. Any context is defined by a case with a formal knowledge representation structure. Thereby, social context as implicit knowledge is also represented a formal form like a case. In addition, for the context modeling, ontology is also adopted. Second, we select a proper case as a decision making solution from decision maker's personal case-base. We convince that the selected case should be the best case depending on context related to decision maker's current status as well as decision maker's requirements. However, it is possible to change the environment and context around the decision maker and it is necessary to adapt the selected case. Third, if the selected case is not available or the decision maker doesn't satisfy according to the newly arrived context, then constraint satisfaction problem and solution ontology is applied to derive new solution for the decision maker. The constraint satisfaction problem uses to the previously selected case to adopt and solution ontology. The verification of the proposed methodology is processed by searching a meeting place according to the decision maker's requirements and context, the extracted solution shows the satisfaction depending on meeting purpose.
The finite element and boundary element methods of underground analysis are both well established numerical techniques for determination of stress and displacement distributions at underground excavation. The finite element method presents antithetical advantages and limitations. Complex constitutive behaviour may be modelled, at the expense of numerical efficiency and, for infinite domain, inadequate representation of remote bounadry conditions. The inherent advantages of the boundary element method are the ease with which infinite domain problems may be analysed, and the efficiency of analysis typically associated with a boundary value solution procedure. Application of the method is limited by the requirements linear constitutive behaviour for the medium. A combined of the finite element and boundary element methods of underground analysis is shown to preserve the advantages of each procedure, and, eliminates their individual disadvantages. Procedures employed in this papers described combined FEBEM algorithm. Solutions of underground excavation verifying the performance of combined FEBEM code are compared with theoretical solution, boundary element solution and finite element solution.

This paper treats a development of visual interactive modeling(VIM) system for ship scheduling problem in integer formulation. The ship scheduling problem can be described as "A problem which assigns ships and cargos to achieve maximum revenue from transportation" in brief. Since late 1970s there has been rapid growth in development and use of VIM as MS10R technology due to the development of computer technology and now VIM has become a important discipline in MS/OR and MIS society. Visual Interactive Modeling is a process that decision maker takes part in modeling life cycle -data collection, formulation, derivation of optimal solution and representation of solution - and interacts with a modeling system to achieve a user-solution appropriate for his/her ultimate goal. This paper suggests the methodology how to collect data, build and modify model, and represent solution using computer graphics as a major driving tool and demonstrates effective performance of a prototype system.pe system.

A higher order panel method based on representation for both the geometry and the velocity potential is developed for the analysis of steady flow around marine propellers. The self-influence functions due to the normal dipole and the source are desingularized through the quadratic transformation, and then the singular part is integrated analytically whereas the non-singular part is integrated using Gaussian quadrature. A null pressure jump Kutta condition at the trailing edge is found to be effective in stabilizing the solution process and in predicting the correct solution. Numerical experiments indicate that the present method is robust and predicts the pressure distribution around lifting bodies with much fewer panels than existing low order panel methods.
Process planning (selection and ordering of processes) and material selection for product manufacturing are two key things determined before taking full-scale manufacturing. Knowledge on product design. material characteristics, processes, time and cost all-together are mutually related and should be considered concurrently. Due to the complexity of problem, human experts have got only one of the feasilbe solutions with their field knowledge and experiences. We propose a hierarchical expert system framework of knowledge representation and reasoning in order to overcome the complexity. Manufacturing processes have inherently hierarchical relationships, from top level processes to bottom level operation processes. Process plan of one level is posted in process blackboard and used for lower level process planning. Process information on blackboard is also used to adjust the process plan in order to resolve the dead-end or inconsistency situation during reasoning. Decision variables for process, material, tool, time and cost are represented as object frames, and their relationships are represented as constraints and rules. Constraints are for relationship among variables such as compatibility, numerical inequality etc. Rules are for causal relationships among variables to reflect human expert\`s knowledge such as process precedence. CRSP(Constraint and Rule Satisfaction Problem) approach is adopted in order to obtain solution to satisfy both constraints and rules. The trade-off procedure gives user chances to see the impact of change of important variables such as material, cost, time and helps to determine the preferred solution. We developed the prototype system using visual C++ MFC, UNIK, and UNlK-CRSP on PC.
An analytical solution based on the neutral surface concept is developed to study the free vibration behavior of simply supported functionally graded plate reposed on the elastic foundation by taking into account the effect of transverse shear deformations. No transversal shear correction factors are needed because a correct representation of the transversal shearing strain obtained by using a new refined shear deformation theory. The foundation is described by the Winkler-Pasternak model. The Young's modulus of the plate is assumed to vary continuously through the thickness according to a power law formulation, and the Poisson ratio is held constant. The equation of motion for FG rectangular plates resting on elastic foundation is obtained through Hamilton's principle. Numerical examples are provided to show the effect of foundation stiffness parameters presented for thick to thin plates and for various values of the gradient index, aspect and side to thickness ratio. It was found that the proposed theory predicts the fundamental frequencies very well with the ones available in literature.
This study was aimed to examine problem-solving ability of fifth graders on two types of mathematical essay problems, and to analyze the process of mathematical justification in solving the essay problems. For this purpose, a total of 14 mathematical essay problems were developed, in which half of the items were single tasks and the other half were data-provided tasks. Sixteen students with higher academic achievements in mathematics and the Korean language were chosen, and were given to solve the mathematical essay problems individually. They then were asked to justify their solution methods in groups of 4 and to reach a consensus through negotiation among group members. Students were good at understanding the given single tasks but they often revealed lack of logical thinking and representation. They also tended to use everyday language rather than mathematical language in explaining their solution processes. Some students experienced difficulty in understanding the meaning of data in the essay problems. With regard to mathematical justification, students employed more internal justification by experience or mathematical logic than external justification by authority. Given this, this paper includes implications for teachers on how they need to teach mathematics in order to foster students' logical thinking and communication.
The static analysis of the simply supported functionally graded plate under transverse load by using a new sinusoidal shear deformation theory based on the neutral surface concept is investigated analytically in the present paper. No transversal shear correction factors are needed because a correct representation of the transversal shearing strain is given. The mechanical properties of the FGM plate are assumed to vary continuously through the thickness according to a power law formulation except Poisson's ratio, which is kept constant. The equilibrium and stability equations are derived by employing the principle of virtual work. Results are provided for thick to thin plates and for different values of the gradient index k, which subjected to sinusoidal or uniformly distributed lateral loads. The accuracy of the present results is verified by comparing it with finite element solution. From the obtained results, it can be concluded that the proposed theory is accurate and efficient in predicting the displacements and stresses of functionally graded plates.
A level set tree provides a useful representation of a multidimensional density function. Visualizing the data structure as a tree offers many advantages for data analysis and clustering. In this paper, we present a level set tree estimation algorithm for use with a set of data points. The proposed algorithm creates a level set tree from a family of level sets estimated over a whole range of levels from zero to infinity. Instead of estimating density function then thresholding, we directly estimate the density level sets using one-class support vector machines (OC-SVMs). The level set estimation is facilitated by the OC-SVM solution path algorithm. We demonstrate the proposed level set tree algorithm on benchmark data sets.

Fields of high-precision positioning applications are growing fast across the mass market worldwide. Accordingly, the industry is focusing on developing methods of applying State-Space Representation (SSR) corrections on low-cost GNSS receivers. Among SSR correction types, this paper analyzes Safe Position Augmentation for Real Time Navigation (SPARTN) messages being offered by the SAfe and Precise CORrection DAta (SAPCORDA) company and validates positioning algorithms based on them. The first part of this paper introduces the SPARTN format in detail. Then, procedures on how to apply Basic-Precision Atmosphere Correction (BPAC) and High-Precision Atmosphere Correction (HPAC) messages are described. BPAC and HPAC messages are used for correcting satellite clock errors, satellite orbit errors, satellite signal biases and also ionospheric and tropospheric delays. Accuracies of positioning algorithms utilizing SPARTN messages were validated with two types of positioning strategies: Code-PPP using GPS pseudorange measurements and PPP-RTK including carrier phase measurements. In these performance checkups, only single-frequency measurements have been used and integer ambiguities were estimated as float numbers instead of fixed integers. The result shows that, with BPAC and HPAC corrections, the horizontal accuracy is 46% and 63% higher, respectively, compared to that obtained without application of SPARTN corrections. Also, the average horizontal and vertical RMSE values with HPAC are 17 cm and 27 cm, respectively.
