Properties of the $(La_{1-x}Sr_x)(Ga_{1-y}Mg_y)O_{3-\delta}$ Based Electrolyte for Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (고체산화물 연료전지 $(La_{1-x}Sr_x)(Ga_{1-y}Mg_y)O_{3-\delta}$계 전해질의 제조 및 특성평가)

  • 고체산화물 연료전지의 구성요소인 전해질의 $(La_{1-x}Sr_x)(Ga_{1-y}Mg_y)O_{3-\delta}$계의 결정상 및 미세구조특성을 연구하였다. Mg의 첨가량이 증가할수록 Sr의 고용량도 증가하였으며 Sr의 함량이 많으면 2차상인 $LaSrGa_3O_7$상이 생성되었으며 Mg의 첨가량이 증가함에 따라서는 $LaSrGaO_4$상이 생성되었다. $LaSrGaO_4$상이 생성된 경우에는 낮은 전도도를 나타내었으며 $LaSrGa_3O_7$상의 경우에는 전기전도도에 큰 영향을 미치지 않았다. 또한 Sr과 Mg 첨가량의 증가는 grain 성장을 억제하였으며 $(La_{0.8}Sr_{0.2})(Ga_{0.8}Mg_{0.2})O_{3-\delta}$$1000^{\circ}C$에서 0.1S/cm 정도의 전기전도도를 나타내었다.

  • SPE(solid polymer electrolyte) 수전해법은 고체고분자전해질 막(membrane)을 전해질로 사용하는 방법으로서 이 전해질 막은 알칼리 수전해에서의 KOH전해질과 격리막을 합쳐놓은 것과 같은 역할을 수행한다. SPE 수전해는 양극(anode)에서 촉매 전극에 의해 물로부터 산소기체(O$_2$)와 수소이온(H$^{+}$)이 발생되며 수소이온(H$^{+}$)은 다량의 물($H_2O$)분자와 함께 고체고분자전해질 막을 통하여 음극으로 이동하여 외부회로를 통해 도달한 전자(e)와 음극(cathode)에서 만나 수소기체(H$_2$)를 발생시키는 방법이다.(중략)

Grain Size Dependence of Ionic Conductivity of Polycrystalline Doped Ceria

  • Conductivities of polycrystalline ceria doped with several rare earth oxides were measured by AC admittance and DC four probe method. The conductions were separated into grain and grain boundary contributions using the complex admittance technique as well as grain size dependence of conductivity. The grain size dependence of polycrystalline conductivity, which can be adequately described by the so-called brick layer model, appears to give a more reliable measure of the grain conductivity compared to the complex admittance method. Polycrystalline resistivity(1/conductivity) increases linearly with the reciprocal of grain size. The intercept of resistivity vs. inverse grain size plot gives a measure of the grain resistivity and the slope gives a measure of the grain boundary resistivity. It was also noted that errors involved in the analysis of experimental data may be different between the complex admittance method and the impedance method. A greater resolution of the spectra was found in the complex admittance method, insofar as the present work is concerned, suggesting that the commonly used equivalent circuit may require re-evaluation.

  • In recent times, starting up polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells(PEMFC) in sub-zero condition is a great challenge of fuel cell electric vehicle(FCEV). The water produced in a cathode during PEMFCs operate. The water changes into the form of solid/ice in sub-zero temperatures and this makes trouble in PEMFC cells. Voltage of PEMFC drops and cold startup is failed. This paper describes an experimental study on the effect of thermal cycle to degradation of MEA in PEMFC.

  • The decrease of polarization resistance in cathode is the key point for intermediate temperature SOFC(Solid Oxide Fuel Cell). In this study, the Influence of Co substitution in B-site at perovskite PSCM (Pr0.3Sr0.7CoxMn(1-x)) was investigated. The PSCM series exhibits excellent MIEC(Mixed ionic Electronic Conductor) properties. The ASR(Area Specific Resistance) of PSCM3773 was $0.174{\Omega}cm^2\;at\;700^{\circ}C$. The activation energy of PSCM3773 was also lower than other compositions of PSCM. The ASR values were increased gradually during the thermal cycling test of PSCM37773 due to the delamination between electrolyte and cathode materials.

  • In this study, we studied the nature of thin films formed by photodoping chalcogenide materials with for use in programmable metallization cell devices, a type of ReRAM. We investigated the resistance of Ag-doped chalcogenide thin films varied in the applied voltage bias direction from about $1M{\Omega}$ to several hundreds of ${\Omega}$. As a result of these resistance change effects, it was found that these effects agreed with PMC-RAM. The results imply that a Ag-rich phase separates owing to the reaction of Ag with free atoms from the chalcogenide materials.

  • There has been considerable interest in electrochromic devices because of its potential application in automobiles including mirrors and windows. The electrochromic(EC) mirror can automatically control the amount of glare produced by headlights or other light source on either inside or outside mirrors. Therefore, the EC mirror can be a better alternative to todays day-night mirrors for automobiles. In this paper we have fabricated all solid state EC mirrors with glass-ITO / a-WO$_3$/ polymer electrolyte / a-V$_2$O$\sub$5/ / ITO-glass / Al structure and investigated their spectral reflectance as a function of applied voltage.

  • 1018-1021 The CuO-P$_2$O$_{5}$ containing P$_2$O$_{5}$ as glass-former were prepared by press-quenching method on the copper plate. By post-heat treatment of these glasses, the CuO-P$_2$O$_{5}$ -V$_2$O$_{5}$ -g1ass ceramics was obtained and the crystallization behavior and dc conductivities were investigovted. The heat-treated glass-ceramics decreased in electrical conductivity by the order of 10$^1$ compared to amorphous glass. The linear relationship between In($\sigma$T) and T$^{-1}$ indicated that electrical conduction in CuO-P$_2$O$_{5}$ -V$_2$O$_{5}$ -gass occurred by a small polaron hopping.

  • The behavior of ion trapping and migration in the yittria-stabilized zirconia pellets following high dose ion beam irradiation have been studied using SEM, EDX, and TGA. The ion beam was irradiated at room and higher temperatures and the differences in their results were interpreted in terms of dynamic annealing effects. The SRIM calculation was also performed to explain the cross sectional SEM image of the electrolytes.

  • The effects of proton beam irradiation on the yittria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) pellets have been investigated using SEM, EDX and TGA. 130 keV proton beam was irradiated on YSZ with high doses and annealed at various temperatures. The ion conductivity was also measured as a function of proton irradiation temperature and annealing temperature and the results were compared with their corresponding SEM images and the results of SRIM calculations.
