The objective of this paper is to investigate effects of the specific heat and the diameter of suspending particles on the heat transfer coefficient of two phase turbulent flow with suspension of solid particles in a circular tube with constant heat flux. Heat transfer coefficients of two phase turbulent flow in pipe with suspension of graphite powder were measured with variations of particle sizes and solid-gas loading ratio. Measured data were compared with predictions by numerical analysis in which the turbulece models are closed on the first order level. Results show that heat transfer coefficient increases with increasing the solid-gas loading ratio and the specific heat of suspending material, however, it decreases as the average diameter of particles decreases below $24{\mu}m$.
The tie lines delineating ion-exchange equilibria between NiFe2O4-NiCr2O4 spinel solid solution and Fe2O3-Cr2O3 corundum solid solution were determined at 900, 1000, and 1200 ℃ by electron microprobe and energy dispersive X-ray analysis of oxide phases, using the flux growth technique. Activities of the spinel components were calculated from the tie lines, assuming Temkin's ideal mixing in the corundum solid solution. The spinel phase could be expressed by a regular solution with negative deviations from ideality. The Gibbs free energies of mixing for spinel solid solution were discussed in terms of the cation distribution model, based on site preference energies and assuming random mixing on both tetrahedral and octahedral sites.
To increase the dissolution rate of practically insoluble biphenyl dimethyl dicarboxylate (DDB), various solid dispersions were prepared with water soluble carriers, such as povidone (PVP K-30), poloxamer 407, sodium deoxycholate (SDC) and polyethylene glycol (PEG) 6000, at drug to carrier ratios of 1:3, 1:5 and 1:10 (w/w) by solvent or fusion method. Dissolution test was performed by the paddle method. The dissolution rate of DDB tablets (25 mg) on market was found to be very low (11.44, 9.02 and 6.42% at pH 1.2, 4.0 and 6.5 after 120 min, respectively). However, dissolution rates of DDB from various solid dispersions were very fast and reached supersaturation within 10 min. DDB-PEG 6000 solid dispersion appeared to be better in enhancing the in vitro dissolution rate than others. Furthermore, the incorporation of DDB and phosphatidylcholine (PC) into ${\beta}-cyclodextrin$ at ratios of 1:2:20, 1:5:20 and 1:10:20 resulted in a 4.9-, 11.2- and 19.6-fold increase in DDB dissolution after 120 min as compared with the pure drug, respectively. This might be attributed to the formation of lipid vesicles which entrapped a certain concentration of DDB during dissolution. On the other hand, the permeation of DDB through rabbit duodenal mucosa was examined using some enhancers such as SDC, sod. glycocholate (SGC) and glycyrrhizic acid ammonium salt (GAA). Only trace amounts of DDB were found to permeate through deuodenal mucosa in the absence of enhancer. SDC was found to markedly decrease the permeation flux of DDB, however, SGC and GAA (5 mM) enhanced the flux of DDB 1.6 and 2.4 times higher as compared with no additive, respectively.
Solid solutions Sr$_{2}$(Ta$_{1-x}$ Nb$_{x}$)$_{2}$O$_{7}$, (x=0.0-1.0), composed of strontium tantalate(Tc=-107.deg. C) and strontium-niobate(Tc=1342.deg. C) were prepared by the conventional mixed oxide method and the flux method(molten salt synthesis method). Phase relation, sintering temperature, grain-orientation and dielectric properties for sintered ceramic samples were investigated with different compositions. Both Curie temperature and dielectric constant at Curie temperature were increased, and sintering behavior and the degree of grain-orientation were improved with the increase of Nb content. The single phase Sr$_{2}$(Ta/sib 1-x/Nb$_{x}$)$_{2}$O$_{7}$ powder was synthesized by using the flux method at lower temperatures, and sintering temperature was also reduced by using the flux method-derived powder than using the mixed oxide-derived powder. Sintering characteristics and dielectric properties of the specimens prepared by the flux method were better than those derived through the conventional mixed oxide method.thod.hod.

In this study, using solid-state and flux, $Y_3Al_5O_{12}:Er^{3+}\;(YAG:Er^{3+})$ powders were successfully synthesized at low temperatures. To analyze the crystallinity of powders according to the synthesis or non-synthesis of powders and powder calcination temperatures, X-ray diffraction (XRD) was measured. In the case of pure YAG, when YAG was analyzed using the general solid-phase method, it was calcined for 12 hours at $1400^{\circ}C$ and pure YAG phase could be obtained. But when $BaF_2$ was added to YAG, YAG was synthesized at lower temperature (1000^{\circ}C$). It was thus found that the synthesis temperature could be lowered by about $400^{\circ}C$. Also, when BaF2 with an optimal concentration was added to $YAG:Er^{3+}$, the particle shape and size according to synthesis temperatures were surveyed, and corresponding luminous intensity was discussed.

Next to carbon dioxide, methane is the second largest contributor to global warming among anthropogenic greenhouse gases. Methane is emitted into the atmosphere from both natural and anthropogenic sources. Natural sources include wetlands, termites, wildries, ocean and freshwater. Anthropogenic sources include landfill, natural gas and oil production, and agriculture. These manmade sources account for about 70% of total global methane emissions; and among these, landfill accounts for approximately 10% of total manmade emissions. Solid waste landfills produce methane as bacteria decompose organic wastes under anaerobic conditions. Methane accounts for approximately 45 to 50 percent of landfill gas, while carbon dioxide and small quantities of other gases comprise the remaining to 50 to 55 percent. Using the closed enclosure technique, surface emission fluxes of methane from the selected landfill sites were measured. These data were used to estimate national methane emission rate from domestic landfills. During the three different periods, flux experiments were conducted at the sites from June 30 through December 26, 1999. The chamber technique employed for these experiments was validated in situ. Samples were collected directly by on-site flux chamber and analyzed for the variation of methane concentration by gas chromatography equipped with FID. Surface emission rates of methane were found out to vary with space and time. Significant seasonal variation was observed during the experimental period. Methane emission rates were estimated to be 64.5$\pm$54.5mgCH$_4$/$m^2$/hr from Kimpo landifll site. 357.4$\pm$68.9mgCH$_4$/$m^2$/hr and 8.1$\pm$12.4mgCH$_4$/$m^2$/hr at KwanJu(managed and unmanaged), 472.7$\pm$1056mgCH$_4$/$m^2$/hr at JonJu, and 482.4$\pm$1140 mgCH$_4$/$m^2$/hr at KunSan. These measurement data were used for the extrapolation of national methane emission rate based on 1997 national solid waste data. The results were compared to those derived by theoretical first decay model suggested by IPCC guidelines.

Numerical analysis is made on the turbulent heat transfer with suspension of solid particles in circular tube with constant heat flux. The mean motion of suspending particles in mixture is treated as the secondary gas flow with virtual density and viscosity. Our modeling of turbulent transport phenomena of suspension flow is based on this assumption and conventional mixing length theory. This paper gives the evidence that the mixing length models can be extended to close the governing equations for two phase turbulent flow with solid boundary at a first order level. Results on Nusselt numbers obtained by analytical treatments are compared with available experimental data and discussed. They suggest that the most important parameters of two phase turbulent heat transfer phenomena are relative particle diameter to pipe diameter, gas-solid loading ratio, and specific heat of suspending material.
The objective of the present work is to examine the variation of cooling characteristics due to the Weber number of droplet on a heated surface. The surface temperatures varied from 72.5 - $106.1^{\circ}C$ on steel and Teflon, when Weber number was 60, 180, 300. The results are as follows; In the case of the same droplet size, the initial temperature of solid increases the indepth temperature of solid more drop. In the case of the same surface temperature, Weber number increases with increasing the cooling effect of droplet. The time-average heat flux increases with increasing the initial temperature of solid and Weber number. The evaporation time decreases with increasing the initial temperature of solid and Weber number.

A numerical analysis of the moving bed heat exchanger of solid particles inside the vertical pipe was performed using finite difference method. Also, the theoretical solutions were obtained for comparison when the wall heat flux or the wall temperature was assumed constant. The comparison showed that their results agreed well each other. The moving bed heat exchanger was classified as countercurrent-flow, parallel-flow, and cross-flow types according to the gas flow direction. For each type, the thermal efficiency of heat exchanger was calculated as a function of non-dimensional parameters such as the characteristic length of heat exchanger, Biot number and the ratio of thermal capacities of gas and solid particles.

Solid propellant combustion is investigated for its response to several imposed pressure histories. For this purpose, it is assumed that combustion takes place in a premixed gas evaporated from a uniform melt of solid propellant. One-dimensional unsteady problem is than numerically solved for a pressure coupling, with a steady state as an initial state. The results in response to pressure of finite sinusoidal waves show that unsteady mass fluxes are sometimes quite different from those predicted by the classical quasisteady burning law of Vieile. In addition, abnormal mass flux excursions are captured for a large pressure exponent and a lower melting point.
